Hmm...

I'm thinking that "less is more" when it comes to the Hulk. He was good in this... but could he sustain it for a whole film?

I think Hulk works best as a supporting character. The Hulk is one of my least favorite Marvel characters ever, but I loved him in the Avengers. I would definitely like to see him in an Avengers 2 or something like that, and I'm tentatively interested in seeing the Edward Norton Hulk film, but there are a lot of other superhero films I'd rather see made than another Incredible Hulk movie.

Nortan has refused. There is no new hulk in the pipeline and I don't think Ruffallo has that in his avengers contract. I would adore another hulk, but he's my favorite superhero. All in all the avengers movie has been good to me. An amazing showing by my favorite hero and the big end reveal was my favorite character period.

Actually Shummy Ruffallo is signed for six films (of which one if not two would obviously be other Avenger films). They said no more Hulk before The Avengers came out, and I think they've been taken by surprise at just how positive the reaction to Ruffallo's Banner and The Hulk have been, so much so that they're rethinking their earlier statements.

Still, I stand by what I said. I think less is more, and I think Hulk's success in this film is only because he is part of this film rather than a whole film in and of himself. Plus Hulk's problems are a bit like Iron Man's problems - the bad guys will always be huge giant guys that can go toe-to-toe with the Hulk just like Iron Man's bad guys all end up being dudes in a suit of armour. He's already fought A-Bomb. What's next? Red Hulk? Absorbing Man? That Zaaxxx thing* (or however you spell it)? It will get old quickly. That's why I want Mandarin for the next Iron Man. He needn't be a racist stereotype and he's not just another guy in a suit of armour.

*They kinda already did that in the Ang Lee film, but no one cares about that film.

Planet Hulk would be great and could lead on to an avengers movie quite well. I mean, I know its very similar to John Carter and we just had a movie from disney about that but still...

Also, if hes able to team up with the avengers that suggests going for a 'smart hulk' rather than the mindless monster.

I was hoping they would follow up with the 'Leader' story they set up in Incredible Hulk at least. If they want to turn General Ross and Betty into the Red Hulks as well, who would I be to say no.

Personally I didn't like the guy they had as the leader and I'd have real trouble taking seriously as a villain.

General Ross as Red Hulk maybe. That was kinda okay. Betty becoming Red-She-Hulk I can't see working on screen.

Hulk is a great character, probably my favourite in comics besides Batman and Spidey, I liked his last solo outing and I hope they make another one.

I also liked how they made Bloknsky a Royal Marine.

The hulk has a good staple of movie capable villains, but they're kinda out there. Nightmare would work well, as would the leader. I'll agree though that the Hulk is one of the harder characters to write a movie capable story around. He's too strong and his primary enemy is himself or the controlling force of humanity rather than anyone that can really give him a good fight. It's part of why he works so well in other characters storylines or in major events. He's a force as much as he's a personality. He's got the same issues as superman in film. A good hulk enemy is one that is a controller, someone who will mess with his mentality, make him chose between his own good or bad aspects and who can martial a good physical force to challenge the hulk without that force itself being the primary enemy. Loki is/was actually a very good villain for the hulk and has been used as such many times in the comics.

I get where you're coming from with the less is more mentality, I might even agree with you were I not such an obsessed fan of seeing a big green dude shout and hit things.

In The Avengers Loki was pretty petulant, I can imagine a slightly more wise/mature Loki coming back and manipulating Hulk rather than just trying to shout him down (which ended poorly for him).

I would have loved it if at the end Odin arrived, mega-slapped Loki across the face, and dragged him by the arm back to Asgard.

Whereas in the film Hulk mega-slapped Loki across his entire body and then Thor dragged him by the arm back to Asgard?

Yeah pretty much my exact feelings as well, I watched the whole season of the 2011 cartoon series (as I said, pick it up cos its excellent) and you can tell that the writers are always trying to come up with elaborate ways of keeping Hulk out of the way when there is a climatic battle, as you say, hes just too nails! If he is in the room, any suspense vanishes because you know he is just too awesome to lose a fight to anyone!

My favourite hero ever since I saw him hold a mountain up in the Secret Wars comics when I was 6 years old. Is this not the greatest comic book cover ever?

Before Avenger's Marvel had said there wouldn't be another solo Hulk movie, as people started seeing Avengers the story changed to a six film contract and possibly another film in 2015.

Link
Zelda

There is also a TV show in the works as well.

As for Secret Wars, Disco Beyonder?

No. I have never seen Hulk as a serious character. I would prefer a Dr. Strange movie. That would be kickass. They have done too many solo Hulk movies.

Just got back from seeing The Avengers and have to agree, The Hulk was pretty damn funny!

While I don't know if we want yet another attempt at re-booting a Hulk movie, that once scene was even more hilarious to me personally;
Spoiler:
I have a little kitten named Loki who is insanely mischevious and typically will pounce on & beat-up our older kitten, Stitch who is about twice little Loki's size... Occasionally though, Stitch will wait untill Loki isn't paying the slightest bit attention, and then pound the hell out of her!

That scene with The Hulk pounding Loki & repeatedly slaming him into the floor is so reminisent of the odd times Stitch will 'hulksmash!' poor little Loki and leave her flat on her back, wondering what the hell just hit her!
