Well, to make up for my turtle-paced and mediocre painting abilities, i've been taken the modeling aspect of the hobby a little bit more seriously. I've been scratch-building and converting almost everything i can get my hands on into all sorts of stuff, not only because it looks cool, but also because it's a little easier on the 'ole wallet when it comes to expanding my army.

So, to start this blog off with a bang, i'll be building a superheavy. I'm not sure what type yet, as i'm not familier with apocalypse at all, but it's going to be a large tank of some sort. I got the idea for it when i was perusing wazzo2000's P&M Blog (which is fantastic, btw, if you haven't seen it, you're missing out), and i saw his ork semi-trucks. I started thinking it looked familier, until I realised it was incredibly similar to an toy set i got back in elementary school for Christmas. So I started think, "Do I still have that thing?" And after a bit of searching, lo and behold, I found it, or at least the parts I cared about, anyway.

So, yeah. It's going to look pretty cool. I've used some styrofoam-like material to bulk it up and add a front, and i'm using some old testors paint pots as cannons of some sort.

Then I bulked up the back with a sort of cabin-like thing that you would see at the back of the ship. I'll be mounting a large gun of some sort on it as soon as i can.

I'll get more up as soon as I can. I hope it'll turn out like I see it in my head.

EDIT: ...dang.. Can anyone give me a hand in getting these images to work? I've just been uploading them from my Photobucket by putting the url in between the image brackets. What am i doing wrong? I'll just post some links for now, but help would be appreciated.

EDIt: Fix'd! Thanks Arakasi!

You want to use the IMG code for the image, under links bottom right on photobucket. Looks like this:

Not this:

Better still - you want to upload these to the DakkaDakka gallery

I agree with Arakasi, use the DakkaDakka gallery.

Other than that this is a a promising blog, I love looking at Ork vehicles converted from ordinary tools, I reccomend that you check out the stuff on Iron Dog studios.com the guy does some cool scratch builds from toys, here is the link... http://www.irondogstudios.com/mekshop.html

i cant see what your trying to make and i dont understand why your using form ?

why dont you use plastic card ? its 100% better and stronger and will hold the paint better.

have a look on my blog for tips and hints mate.

All the Plastic card I use in all my models comes from my Local Model Train shop in (www.collectable-models.co.uk), UK, you can also buy it on-line, please asking me where i get it from or you go on the list. and also from here http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/treadhead2004/&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2754

I would love love love to use plastic card for this, but unfortunately I have no place to get it from right now. I'll be putting in an order for several sheets soon, but I'm very bad at holding ideas in my head. If I waited to get the plastic card, I'd lose inspiration and probably wouldn't get much done. As for what it's suppose to be, well, I'll get some updated picture up ASAP, and hopefully that will make things a bit more clear.

EDIT: thank you so much arkasi! I'll fix the pics as soon as I can get to my desktop rather than my iphone.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Alright! Here we are, the promised pics. Sorry for the double post, but this thing looks a full ten times more awesome now. I've given it some good 'ole fashion dakka.

The long white line thing is a gun. I know it's hard to tell from the light. And from the other side...

Here's a view from the front. That box at the front will have an ork of some sort in it, and probably a kannon mounted on it.

A close-up.

Yo dawg, we heard you like sponsons...

Sorry, they're kind of hard to make out right now, but soon i'll clean it up (er.. maybe "clean" isn't the right word) by adding scrap and debris, and it'll stick out a bit more and be more noticable. In other news, here's a kannon and a grot's nest (minus railings and flag)

From above..

Some size comparison for you. (I really need to work on that ugly white trim on that wagon.. And yes, I realize that that deffrolla would never work. )

Well kids, there you are. I'll soon be adding some stupid-huge exhaust pipes to the back via toilet paper tube, and covering the whole thing with a layer of scrap! Stay posted!

Sorry this is taking so long to update, but i'm almost done adding a good healthy layer of scrap to the whole thing. It's hard to post, because this week and the next is finals, but after that, i should be able to post more regularly. I also came into possession of some couch foam, which i will be turning into some mountains for my game table.

Alright! It took a long time and was very tedious work, but the whole thing (well, almost the whole thing) is covered in scrap! So, yeah, here they are.
