I'm trying to attach Sanguinary Guard wings to the back of a normal marine torso. Used a glob of green stuff, pressed the wings onto the torso, smoothed it a bit, then let dry. The next day it seemed stable but with very little effort I was able to pull the wings off and the glob of green stuff came off the torso in one piece.

Anyone have any tips on how I can readily secure the wings? Maybe put superglue between the plastic and green stuff?

This was my first adventure with the stuff. I assumed the mold could be used to adhere two pieces together. Perhaps this is an incorrect assumption.

A little super glue will do the trick. Just make sure you clean up the area they used to be attached to.

I haven't used greenstuff myself, but I don't think it's designed to be weight bearing

Thanks. I think I'll first try to fill the little gap in the wings with super glue and green stuff. That should give me more surface area to attach it to the back of the torso.

I think you are right. I'm hoping it can at least provide some more surface area for me to work with...then super glue.

you can also pin it first, then use GS to smooth out and fill the gaps

Yeah, I thought of pinning but I don't have a drill bit small enough where I was comfortable not overly damaging the wings.

I gave it another go last with the superglue + green stuff. Superglue adheres the green stuff to the plastic and the green stuff is molded in such a way to increase the surface area for the glue. After everything dried the wings seem secure. Not sure how they will hold up if the model is dropped but should be just fine for table use.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I think Pinning is ideal but it sounds like just using superglue should do the trick.

if they are plastic, why not use plastic glue??
it prettymuch welds the 2 parts together

First off, super will fix it fine. Secondly, you should have left it over 24 hours to cure and harden before wiggling it, and depend on the ratio of blue to yellow you used (blue making it less wiggly, and yellow making it softer and wigglier) could be the cause. Also, greenstuff is meant to take it weight, hence the reason you can make whole models out of greenstuff.

@DijnsK The wings have a little notch where they are supposed to "hook" onto a small rounded nob on the back of a Sanguinary Guard torso. Normal marine torso backs do not have this so there is way less surface for the plastic glue.

@JohnnoM Thanks for the blue vs yellow tip, I'll keep that in mind.

ah yeah i didnt read you where gonna attach them to a normal torso...
again i think pinning would be the answer... you can cover up sloppy work with the backpack or jumppack anyway.
you can also try to sculpt the rounded wing "joints" with GS and superglue them on there... superglue + greenstuf = happydays

In my experience one should leave green stuff for about three days before doing anything heavy-handed... after two days it's still malleable
