As of late it has been appealing more and more to me. Furoso libbys. Anyone use one consistantly?? Of have good strategies on how to get the most out of this unit?

They seem too expensive to me for their role, I don't imagine they perform much better than a regular Furioso would.

Aside from the comedic effect of flying Dreadnoughts they aren't significantly better than standard Furioso's to justify their cost increase.

Not worth the cost premium IMO...unless you want to field 5 Blood Lances.

Not enough attacks for me. Losing the talons and extra weapon attack hurts it a lot. I'd just rather have a furioso in it's place.
It is a nice way to add a hood though, and is useful if you want to use a furioso with a jump army since it can keep up.

So normal furoso with blood talons to be more effective. Gotcha. If you were to give a libby furoso wos does it have the same jump distance as a assualt marine? I dont have my ba codex in front of me atm.

Nah, they'd have to successfully cast Wings to be able to keep up, or run, but the marines might be running, it's a gamble.

I love the idea of Furioso's, but in practice, I've never had one pan out in an actual game.

The libbies can fly, but are horrendously expensive and get focus fired down quickly.

Regular Furioso's are cheaper, but are slow. Even with a drop pod assault, they have the same problem of jumping right into melta range and being focus fired.

Just my experience with them.

I have yet to use or even purchase one. But I have always thought the dreads were so dam cool. lol Now that I have gotten some feed back about them. I may just use one to play around with in casual games.

Yeah, it might be fun to give a shot, and fun as hell to paint and put on display, but it's not good enough for its points cost, although a librarian in the elite slot is kinda cool in itself.

In my experience, if they survive the to move after the drop then they did more than they were supposed to. Furiosos should be taking a ton of fire when they land and act as a huge distraction unit.

They sounds pretty pointless. Does anyone have a positive expierince with one? and also use them frequently?

I have tons of positive experiences with furiosos, but you have to be strategic about where you place them so they can serve a purpose while being hard to fire at.

Discussion is on the Furioso Librarian variant. Regular Furioso's can be boss.

yeah, sorry, I noticed too that it kinda gravitated towards Furiosos.

Furioso librarians...I dunno. It'd be neat if they had epistolary upgrades but then again, you could give them fear/lance and shield and let loose

If you are interested, you can watch some of the Banter Batreps from Dave at Mini War Gaming. He went through a phase of running one. If I recall, he used a drop pod and fired off Blood Lance upon the dread's arrival.

Here is an example of one:

Oh, I almost forgot. The Furioso kit comes with the faceplate and arms for both variants (and the Death Company version). You can magnetize the faceplate and keep your options open.

Actually, you're wrong, epistolaries use two powers per player turn, and the furioso librarian can only use one.

The libby furioso also has the extra psychic hood which can be nice against psyker heavy armies but that is more of a special case scenario. Regular furiosos seem to be, on average, the better choice.

Libby Furioso keeps the 2 Weapon bonus, re-read the Blood Fist entry, it specifically states it has it:

Pg. 60, "If a Dreadnought is equipped with a blood fist and force weapon, it must choose which it is going to use in each round of combat, but will still gain one extra attack."

I regularly use 2 in my 9 Dread army. Help keep the other Dreads alive with Shield, mostly.

Nope, bring only a HQ Chappy to lead and buff the 15 DC the army requires.

Haven't used myself, but paired twice with a teammate with one at the Adepticon Team Tournament. I like it. 50pts more than a regular Furioso to get Wings and Lance and a hood is actually not bad at all. You lose out on the blender effect of a pair of blood talons, but you still have a good number of attacks, and you have S10 for better antitank. AV13 really makes quite a bit of difference in terms of either Furioso variant being more durable than other Dreads.

The Blood talon dreads are awesome vs infantry but very suseptible to weapon destroyed results. Taking one arm off makes them a tarpit and not a killing machine. The Libby dread can still function well even with only one arm. I run mine with Wings and MotA most of the time for an average of 5 str 10 hits. Great at taking out Paladins and it usually does OK vs TWC aswell. They also add 2 more AV 13 hulls which in todays meta with all the ML spam is quite durable, especially when there are 6 other AV 13 hull on the board in a 2k game. I would not use them in a non AV13 spam list but in such a list I find 50pts fore the powers and the hood well worth it.

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

I run my furioso librarian much the same as tedurur above: Wings of sanguinius and Might of Heroes. Wings gives the dread MUCH needed mobility (and has the habit of throwing off my opponents, "Your dread can move HOW far?") and the might of heroes gives the added attacks in CC that the libby lacks compared to his regular counterpart. Every game i've fielded one it has performed amazingly well except once vs purifier GKs with psyflemen dreads.

If you have 175 points and an elite slot i recommend fielding it at least in one game to see how it does. Overall though i'm pretty happy with the configuration.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Hate the furioso libby. Hes far less deadly than the normal furioso, cannot take any of the upgrades (extra armor, heavy flamer, melta, etc.), has the same AV, and gets tarpitted far too easily. If an opponent scores an immobilized on him hes just sitting pretty and his powers are useless. The only reason I'd (personally) use him is for an extra hood, and an AV 13 armored shield of sanguinus if I were running a razorspam or AV13 wall. Otherwise, I suggest leaving him home.
