So, I'm up in the air as to what to paint up next for the army. I have a lot of 'needs' and more than a few wants right now. But in the end I'm just scatterbrained as to what I'll work on next!

Here's where you guys come in! I'm going to list what I have tabled right now as possibilities for my next project:

Command Rhino - Black and Green
Captain/Special Character
Bionic Tactical Squad
Lightning Claw Assault Terminators
Land Speeder
Land Raider Redeemer/Crusader
Bike Squad + Attack Bike

So whatcha think?

I love me some LC termis and LR's so either one of those.

Special Character! I want to see what kind of lavish detail you slather on a one-of-a-kind dude!

I second a special character, then a transport for him to cruise in!

Given what your building, how about running the Novamarine special character that allows you to use Termies as scoring units? Not bad...

Hrm, Special seems to have a good amount of support, and the speeder was something we've been talking about here for almost as long as I've had the Desert scheme going

So, It's between those two:

Special Character - I'm up in the air as to just which character to model here. Lysander comes to mind, but I could also use the Khan on bike to create a recon captain, or make my Desert Support squads scoring with Kantor! There are a lot of different options. I'm straying away from putting together the Special from IA10 as I'm hopeful that FW will bring one out in the future!

Speeder - Would be a Desert Support Speeder akin to the Razorback in those colors. Part of the recon forces that have built up slowly since I started the army I'm very aware of the chance to create a possible 500 point army of Recon that could go into battle alone! This would fit that theme very nicely. The Khan would be a must!

Thoughts?

Well if you really are partial to that recon army then by all means get that speeder and khan ready to go. Personally though I'd like to see your skill applied to a lavish special character, but White Scars don't do it for me. I'm leaning towards Kantor.

I should mention that any specials I end up painting would be of the 'count as' variety, meaning I would model them myself with the appropriate weaponry so they fit more with the current army

Unanything, thanks for dropping in and thanks for the compliments! I'm still up in the air on whether to wait FW out to see if they produce the special for the Sons or not. I have a few things in mind for what I would do to create him but nothing concrete yet.

Josh, I like working more with freehanding at this point than using pre-modeled overdetailing that GW seems to enjoy so much. See above for my comment on Specials for the army

As a bonus I've started thinking about what I would model a Lysander with and I've come up with using FW's Commander Culln as the base model. I think it could be a great pose with a big hammer and shield

Like the cullin/lysander idea. I'm with you on making counts-as specials; am aiming to do one of every loyalist marine character, just for tactical options. Have you thought about making a counts-as Shark Boy?

I wouldn't have it any other way personally. 'Counts as' will give you the biggest creative stretch.

Yes, yes, I read it. I guess I muddled my words, but what I meant to get across is that I'm "casting my vote" for the special character.

Awww break my heart! I'm actually a fan of the molded on detail, but hey, to each their own!

IceAngel, they'll mostly end up as SoM marines of some fashion. I've finally got my hands on IA10 and have some cool reference to mix and match armor types here and there. Plus I'll be trying to work in as many bionic bits as I can through the army with a lot of new bolter marines and specials/sergeants/characters
