wouldn't that constitute a rule specially for the EC?

No, it's not part of the actual rule, just clarification.

Fafnir wrote:Honestly, as much as I hate the way it could be exploited (and let's face it, as much as I hate everything in general about the codex so far), I have to agree with ph34r here. The wording says quite clearly that the unit does not take up room on the force orginization chart, and that they can be taken as troops. There's no real way around that until GW releases a FAQ/Errata (which will likely be even longer than the codex itself...).
I agree that the ramifications of potential abuse of the ability to take infinite henchmen squads (and more specifically infinite transports) is massive. However, INQ players like me still need as many units as they can get to actually have their army exist.

Oh, I agree completely. The Inquisition is my favourite part of 40k, and the Grey Knights follow closely behind. A functioning Inquisitional force is something that I'd love to have, but as has been highlighted enough times, this codex is just rediculous.

I hope that all of the "sky is falling" hysteria blows over. It happens for almost every army, and while it generally indicates that an army is going to be competitive, it doesn't mean the end of balanced 40k. Hell, I think valkyrie/mechvet IG shook things up more than GK ever could.

Techpriests [sic], ...Do not use up any force organization chart selections

One box on the chart allows you to make one selection from that part of your army list. Dark boxes are compulsory selections. As you can see, normally you will have to take at least one hq selection and two troop selections. These compulsory CHOICES ensure that whatever else you select, your force will have a core within it that is representative of that army. this is rarely a disadvantage and many players often use the maximum number of troop selections.

Warbands are troops CHOICES in an army that includes coteaz

choices = selections

Selection must be filled.

any questions? Coteaz's rule clearly overrides the entry under warbands.

"This unit does not use up a force organization slot."

Just because a unit does not use up a slot when you choose it, does not mean that it does not count as a choice.

Holy mother of god, 16 pages to bitch about henchmen? Really? You all need a nice swift slap in the testicles for that. Really, feel proud of yourselves. This STILL isnt a for real codex. Things change, and some of you are at each others throats over a non official codex? I really hope the MODS reading this sent out some much needed warnings.

Warnings for arguing? What are you, 8?

The advantage of this discussion is that when the codex comes out with the same ruling, we don't have to start arguing all over again. And believe me, I will not be surprised at all if the wording does not change a bit.

I will not be surprised at all if the wording does not change a bit.

I have a feeling "henchmen" will be split up, and some make their way into the troops section. Or even an inquisitorial stormtroopers slot, or adeptus arbites.

ph34r wrote:It's not a loophole. It works exactly the same way as Codex Space wolves and wolf guard or any other similar force org shuffling.

If henchmen count as troops, then they don't count as elites. You can't take unlimited elite henchmen with coteaz. You can't take 3 elite henchmen with coteaz. You can't take any elite henchmen as coteaz.

Troops choices are troops choices. It's not complicated.
Henchmen have 2 rules effecting their force org slots.

One says they don't take slots.
One says they are limited to 1 per inquisitor.
And then there's the fact that they are Elites.

Coteaz changes that to:
They don't take slots (totally unchanged)
Unlimited by inquisitor (changed by coteaz)
Count as troops (changed by coteaz)

I honestly don't know how to explain this more clearly to you without breaking out the crayons.

Except it doesn't say they 'count as troops' but says they are 'troops choices'. Where are you getting 'counts as troops' from?

It doesn't matter if they count as troops or are troops, because their rules specifically state that they don't take up space on the FoC, and there's nothing in Coteaz's special ability that counteracts that rule.

"I would consider my last argument rather uncounterable and non-gak-flingy."

Of COURSE you do. That just makes you thick-headed, not *right*.

On the subject of the Emperor's Champion - the codex DOES NOT say you can use him as your single HQ choice. The FAQ - released LAST MONTH, 6 YEARS after the codex, says you can. They threw a dated codex a bone, this is not the same as postulating that a brand new codex is going to worded in such a way as to be easily the most broken thing to hit the game since the original Iyanden list or the Army of Death list.

It's a beardy way of trying to read something - and you're doing it purposely. Almost everyone else can see that you are just being an amorphous feminine hygiene product container about it.

So, using something else as an example, you would say that logan wing lists were (prior to the FAQ) limited to 3 units and took up all the elite slots?

Won't have to... but no doubt will anyway.

Until there's some actual news again, I think this is about as discussed as it can be. Moving on.
