The Skitarii Assault Chimera paint is nearly done. Just a few bitz and pieces to go.
For giggles I decided to pull out the glow-in-the-dark paint that I've had lying around and since this and the other Chimeras will be transporting Vanguard mostly. Why not make the tanks transporting highly radioactive troops glow like they do?
I put a bit of the glow paint on the already painted handful of Vanguard but I don't think the stuff is very strong or it needs more layers of the stuff OR it needs a lot more light exposure to "charge up" to glow.
I tried to get a picture or two of the tank and Vanguard glowing, but they don't quite emit enough light to show much (or they were not "charged up" enough to emit enough light"). All I got was a blurry-ish black image with a fiaint imagne of the tank, and no troops, and even the tank was hard to see. Mind you I turned the Flash off and exposed it as long as I could... with a phone camera. My big camera died a long time ago.
It won't take much more to finish it. Ill probably add a bunch more layers of glow paint to see if I can get a better effect.
There really is no point on glow-in-the-dark models (unless you REALLY want to take Night fighting way too seriously). if anything its just a neat little thing.

Skitarri Assault Chimera is done. Ill get a bit of combat fluff up when i'm done with the lot of them.
Don't be expecting a glow-in-the-dark pic of them any time soon. Its really difficult to get one that isn't essentially a fuzzy black mass with really faint green glow somewhere in it.
But I did managed to dig out my portable photo thing (backdrop? I can't recall what its called) makes it a bit nicer than a pic on the workbench.
I'm painting up the Rhino one now. its got a bit of blue and red but its got a while to go. not to mention the rest that need finishing and generous applications of glow paint for the Vanguard and their Chimeras.

It was simple, the old tunnel system was to be the ambush point of the approaching Imperial Forces. Davis's team was to shut the tunnel's hydraulic door as the Imperials come in, shut the emergency door in the middle of the tunnel infront of them, then Davis's team would kill the lights and open fire. That was the plan. It was simple and shouldn't have any hitches. "Imperial Chimeras, a few clicks out headed this way." the vox crackled. Everyone was set up and ready to go, Ricky was set up at the door controls and they had enough krak grenades and melta bombs to kill a Baneblade.
Through his scope Davis could see the silhouette of the Chimeras approaching outside in the dust storm, they looked off compared to the shape of the Chimera Davis knew of, but that was not going to matter in a few minutes. "Positions!, stay down!" a voice from his flank said. Davis ducked behind a rockcrete barricade on the side of the tunnel. The low rumbling of the Chimeras got closer and closer, becoming a grinding chorus of metal before hitting the floor of the tunnel, changing key to that of a lower note of treads on paved asphalt.
"Now!"
The emergency door slammed shut with a thud, followed by the main tunnel door and with a crack the lights went off. It should have been simple but it quickly became far too complex for Davis and his men.
The tanks were glowing a sickly green color in the darkness and each was a different shape and design with markings of the Mechanicus. What did they get into? No one was firing from the shock at the sight.
The troop compartment doors slammed open on the Chimeras and Davis's men opened fire, the tunnel lit up with firepower from both sides. The radcounter on Davis's pocket auspex began to crackle wildly as the dark silhouettes climbed out of the strange Chimeras blasting green bursting into their attackers. Heavy Bolter and Auto Cannon fire followed quickly, no one could get close enough to throw their Krak grenades or Melta bombs, If they were not cut down by the Chimeras fire, they fell to the invisible energy and firepower of the chimeras cargo.
It was never simple. It was never going to work.
Skitarii Chimeras are done.
The Assault Chimera with sphereical AC turret and raised combat compartment
Combat Rhino with the turret taken from that Dust Tactics walker (alternate turret went into the Assault Chimera)
The Remote AC turret Chimera
and the Half Track Chimera (from the hull of the Dust Tactics Axis walker that supplied the turrets and other parts).
I'm aware of the FAQ and all that junk but, I still want my Skitarii to have their own metal bawkes.
I got the Gee Bee Racer plane delivered today, I think its the perfect size to be a Stormhawk. I also have a flying base all ready for it when I start building. I just need a source to get extra ones If I decide to get more fighters, that and I have a Valk that's in pieces at the moment.
I also think I need to set some time aside to clean up the rest of the legion of mechines. Some are kinda beat up and dusty.
Also! Note! When I figure out how to get a "glow in the dark" pic ill put it up. But its harder than you think.

I got my Gee Bee on Saturday. Its a cute chubby little plane, just a giant engine in a teeny tiny body with stubby little wings.
Well instead of a prop its now a giant 40k Jet engine with Storm Talon engines attached to its tail wings and soon to have guns all over it to hopefully put it in line with a Stormhawk.
I would make it as a Thunderbolt but a Thunderbolt is thinner (crazy as it sounds) and longer than this little Gee Bee while the Stormhawk is short and fat, that and there is confusion over FW flyers at the moment.
It should soon have assault cannons, missiles and a storm cannon bolted too it once I get the chance.
I'm debating If I want to stick a pilot in the cockpit or just paint a dark canopy that can't be seen through. If I was gonna go the "can't see through" route I want to paint it gold as the F-22 and F-35 utilize gold tinted canopies that are part of their Stealth abilities.
Obviously Stealth isn't a part of the Stormhawk but its a cool look regardless to me.

The Javelin Interceptor takes the concept of reaching the opponent at extreme speeds to the razors edge. Quite literally the largest feasible engine that could be found then a cockpit, wings, and weapons were attached. Its not an aircraft, it's a jet engine with an aircraft attached.
*original pitch from Tech Artisan [expunged]*
I managed to get an hour or two of banging plastic together and bolted on some missiles and assault cannons to the craft.
Not much but its something.

The aircraft was crazy, The main engine intake was as wide as Nes was tall. It had more then enough firepower; assault cannons, tri-barrel air-to-air cannon, missiles, rockets, and more. But it was tiny... The plane was essentially all engine(s) and guns with tiny wings that almost seemed like an afterthought, besides the tail fins which more seemed to have come from a rocket or something. Now Arch Magos DeSat was ordering him to test the thing.
Nes squeezed into the cockpit and with a quiet prayer he pressed the activation runes. The monster engine hissed and rumbled to life beneath him, it felt like he was about to ride a pissed off Grox the size of a tank, strapped to the beast with an aircraft seat and a few belts.
"Test flight 327, you are clear for launch" the voice over the vox came.
Gently, Nes grabbed the throttle and barely gave it a bit of gas, the engine howled and the craft shuttered against its brakes hold.
"Adepts Nes, This is DeSat, just give it everything"
Well gak. Nes thought. He flipped the rune to disable the crafts brakes and rammed the throttle to full. Before Nes could comprehend it, the engine roared like nothing he had ever heard before and he was pinned into his seat. The plane hurtled off of the runway, streaking into the sky, fire and smoke trailing behind it.
The "Stormhawk" is more or less done construction wise. Maybe a bit or piece or a plate of armor somewhere but otherwise its like 99.99% done
I'm actually rather proud of the little Gee Bee R1 aircraft model. Even if its not gonna be the right size for a Stormhawk (exactly, but none will ever be the exact size)
Its armed with Assault cannons, missiles, auto cannons, a tri-barrel cannon and has more horsepower than a Thunderhawk has in all its engines combined.
As long as I can find more of those little + things that you attach the flying stand too from the Valkyrie (and replace the one I took from a Valk kit so I can get another Valk up and flying).
Whats next.... not sure....
I have a King Tiger tank and I could bolt something to that.... Maybe an Omega Pattern Blast Gun..... Or in my case... A prototype "Zeus" Class Telsa Cannon. ENGAGE ELECTRICITY PUNS!
beyond that I have other things. stuff to paint, stuff to build. Just gotta concentrate long enough.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Quick update.
The Xenos at my FLGS plan to build a B-17 into a big Ork bomber. I plan to challenge it with a colossal B-29 Bomber that would make the Marauder look like a paper airplane. Alongside my Kirov, War Zeppelin it will be a part of my Ultra Heavy Aircraft and rain bombs on any who oppose the Omnissiah's will.
Ill grab the bomber tomorrow, but in the mean time Ill tinker on a tank or something.

Update.
The guy who sold me the Death Korp wanted them back so I'm getting them to him for $275. I got 200 Friday and will get the 75 next Friday, I couldn't figure out how to add them to the army. I think I had considered an underground assault team with Hades drills and still. Turns out the drills are TINY, like only slightly larger than a Centaur!
I grabbed the Renegade Knight box thing with 2 knights and all that.
I'm annoyed that only Renegade knights can duel wield weapons such as the avenger gatling guns. I had an idea that is similar to the Wolf Tank from C&C Tiberium 4 (never played, never will, but the designs of the machines are still good). Giant, half-mech, half tank with twin gatling guns. Sadly I can't use such a design as again, only Renegades i.e non-loyalists can duel wield guns (fething why? why can't loyal knights duel wield too?).
Anyways. Ill try to squeeze 3 or 4 Knights out of the boxes 2. I already have my custom Paladin the Mark 1. I at least want an all melee (Gallant I think) and All dakka (Crusader) knight and the third ill try to build into that nasty Anti Super heavy monster from FW with the laser cutter and stuff. I want to make the Tau beg for mercy, I've had enough of Storm Surges and all that.
Speaking of Storm Surges.
I had a battle Friday with my Skitarii and Tanks. With Dark angels and IG allies against Chaos, Tau and Space Wolves against us.
The wolves were wiped out to a manthrough sheer firepower, and my guard friend had a guardsmen punch a wolf in the face and then lasgun him to death, the Chaos units did next to nothing aside from two Deamon princes flying at our point, one of which I vaporized with my plasma weapons from my skitarii and the other survived because of his 2+ 2+ cover save but with 1 wound left.
As for the Tau, their 1 storm surge was annoying as all hell just going pew pew all day. He did miss all of his D missiles on my Gladiator quad auto cannon tank. The Commander of the Gladiator got a few Space Wolf kills (his duel bolt pistols make him the "Storm Bolter" on the tank), and my Skitarii Rangers survives a anit infantry blast from the Storm Surge by going to ground (no casualties at all from the attack).
Over all it was a great game and I did better than I thought I would.
The Bomber is still under construction. I'm trying to fit a lot of dakka to it to mow through anything that flies. Then bomb everything beneath it into oblivion with my new little Javelin fighter running escort.
IM hoping to focus on the bomber to get it done and not get distracted with the Knights or anything else. But I have gotten a handful of things painted while away from the construction site.

The Javelin is painted and complete.
It can barely be seen but I threw on a little green cross hair on the front of the cockpit.
Still tinkering with the bomber, getting distracted by the Knights.
Hopefully I can cobbled together a Knight or something then get the steam to keep going on the bomber.

Still hammering plastic together.
I've decided for my Knight Gallant (the all melee knight). I want to attempt to replicate Rinehart from Overwatch. He's my favorite guy to play and I'm having a blast.
Hammer would be simple, horizontal swing would be the "chainsword" stats and the overhand "Hammer down" would be the slower gauntlet strike with the option to pick up and throw stuff if killed of course. fun!
Or at least attempt to make it close!

Still tinkering. Working on little tank to get the momentum to start on the Knights.
Another knight idea. D.va from Overwatch (its fun game, its characters are the best) could be a Knight Crusader with gun just blasting away. heck most of the tanks could be built as Knights, except Winston, and Road Hog.
Anyways. cobbling together a Wheeled Leman Russ Annihilator with an Oscillating turret
.
I'm hoping to put its largest wheels up front in pod (not together on an axle). of course it will need more armor and sponsons and so on.

Work. Moving onto go back to college and moving to Orlando.
That and my best friend has gotten Warcraft and I've been having fun playing with her on Azeroth.
My duty to the Omnissiah has not ended. Ideas and the like continue to be jotted down on paper. From Overwatch character inspired Knight titans, to crazy aircraft, battleship tanks, and more. Still thinking of ideas.
I don't know when i'll resume building or even playing for that matter. I'm not sure how those in Orlando will react to my creations but Ill get back when I get it all together.

I'm applying to college atm and having to deal with things like moving to Orlando. I'm not sure how people there would react to my... Creations... Might ask in Dakka but not sure where to ask....
But I did manage to smash together these two things.
and
Its unlikely Ill go big any time soon. The bomber fuselage is completed (structurally), and there are plenty of things to make. But at the moment, Ill stick small. Been thinking of another "full army" picture to update.

While worried sick about my best friends in Orlando due to the hurricane (they are closer to it then I'm comfortable with) and finished my own prepping, even though Tampa will be spared (maybe, if it doesn't swing back around after this post).
I cobbled together these things.
A pair of Sentinals that I got from a purchase from a friend that included a ton of troops (like 200 IG in various colors and stages of completion) and 3 sentinels and a bunch of HWTs and such (my last purchase for a long while hopefully).
which makes a full team of 7 at the moment.
Also included in that purchase was two Valks which are being tinkered with, and a pair of rhinos that a silly Ork had their hands on.
These have been cleaned, re-blessed (thrice times), and rebuilt.
the first was a ork version of a vindicator, which I tore apart and am reconfiguring into a Thunderer Siege Tank (if it doesn't work, it can be an unorthodox Vindicator with my small SM force).
There are still patches in the paint where ork plates and glyphs were wrentched off and cleansed. They will be fixed.
The other was another Rhino that was missing a lot of parts like its entire front glasis plate, rear door, roof door and more that also seemed to have Ork metal bitz and chaos pintle mounts attached to it before I got my hands on it.
Poor thing was refitted and repaired. I gave it a new purpose as a Manticore.
Named it "Little Andryusha".
It has a Mini turret that holds its "hull mounted" heavy bolter, and its rear has the Rocket array that and shift a little to the left and right for finer aiming.
You can still see the Metal Bitz like the rear exhaust pipes, extra fuel tank and more done by the Orks before hand.
Now I have to go back to being sleepless and worrying about my best friends in a hurricane.

I had to squish myself into the closet of the room this was taken in to get everything in frame. That and the ceiling fan's light doesn't work so I had to wait until (HIIIIIIGH) noon to get enough light, and all I had to work with was my phone's camera.
I couldn't tell you how many points it is if I tried. I stopped counting a long time ago.
Roughly,
Skitarii front left
Scions front right.
HQs and important things, front center.
Section 9 Exo Suits (Space Marines), center-center
Lots of IG troops back of front table.
Everything then on is armor and vehicles. Each customized, converted, or scratch built.
Feel free to count the points if you want too...

Holy crap! Lookit all those tanks! And converted, to boot! I think my favorite thus far is the count-as Manticore. It reminds me so much of the Katyusha rocket trucks the Soviets used.

I have had a 1/35 T-37 Soviet Amphibious Light tank kit for a while now. its almost exactly as wide and as long as a Leman russ tank (minus the tracks funny enough). I origionally wanted to build it into a Leman Russ, which Kind I havn't a clue.
As I looked it over and hammered plastic together, I changed my mind like 3 times as I went, first it was gonna be a Gryphon, then a Medusa, but I settled on a Salamander Scout tank.
It might not get a use (unless I get an Apoc battle that lets me bring EVERYTHING I own.). But hey, 'nother tank!
Its kinda back heavy due to the small size of the chassis, and thin tracks (its a LIGHT tank, from the soviet union still built on the Vickers chassis they got from the British), but it works for a scout vehicle (that and its amphibious! it still has the propeller on the back of it!)
It has a long barrel 40mm Ack-Ack that came from a german half track model I got who knows when ago. With armor plate around the platform built ontop of the engine deck, and a Heavy bolter built into the real T-37 turret (which only held a light machine gun in reality)
It has a crew of about 5. Driver, Bolter Gunner, Main gunner, Spotter (loader), and Commander/Vox Operator.
Not sure what to build next. I scrapped the wheeled tank, more or less. Just need to figure out what propulsion Ill give it later.
I have more than enough to build. Ill probably work on a Valk, I located the propellers from the giant B-29 bomber, they look plenty big to work as rotors on the Valk. Now to build some giant Engines for them or something.

Nice work with the Salamander, it definitely has the look of a lighter tank and suits the role for scouting. Nice work on the plasticard at the back and on the ladder

In the distance, in the mechanicus workshop a single phrase echoed from within.
IT
I scrapped the wheels on the Oscillating turret tank and strapped these giant Spider legs onto it instead.
It stands a little bit tall and of course the legs are really wide, but I don't care. Spider Tank.
I need to somehow bolt some heavy bolters sponsons onto it (though, I could live without them).
its steady mechanical march will crush anything in its way with its brothers, the other 2 walker tanks already in service.
I really need to write down everyone's name. I'm starting to lose track.... There are at least (to my current count) at least 90+ armored vehicles under my command.
Still tinkering. Still working.

Currently painting a few tanks and things.
But I had a crazy idea (not new). I remembered an old toy I had in my childhood, a 2 and a half foot long Aircraft Carrier, built of heavy plastic with the Conning Tower that came off.
Of course during googling I discovered the "USS Flagg", some old 80s G.I Joe aircraft carrier toy that is over 7 feet long!. But those go for thousands if not hundreds of $ due to their age. One of the biggest reasons I want the 2 and a half foot one was besides cheaper price, the conning tower can come off so I can build my own 40k-ified one.
I don't think I could find my original one, but I found them on Amazon for like $50 or so (which compared to a 40k model that's hella cheap). Its big enough that it could support lighter aircraft and gunships like half of the Space Marine flyers ( IG flyers are mostly based around the far larger Valk chassis, or are the massive Thunderbolt or Lightning).
Aircraft such as the diminutive Stormtalon or even the Stormhawk would fit (if a tad cramped). Other even smaller things like the Land Speeder Tempest (which is kinda like a proto-flyer sort of) or just using Land Speeders in general with different models (more looking like small aircraft then... Land Speeders). Heck with a bit of crafting I could cobble together some analogues to the entire line for the carrier.
All it should take is some tracks and additional guns to build something like that into a massive Land Carrier.
I don't see what it couldn't work....
Back to painting. ...
