Well, there is something unlocked in terms of freebies.

EDIT: Okay they're calling it just free upgrade, freebies are not unlocked until now, so you're not wrong^^

And that made my decision for me. :(

It all depends on whether you want everything for 1, 2 or 3 armies. Personally, my sweet spot is the painter box level, as I won't start an IG army and just want some nice characters and the odd bike or mecha for painting.

The CAPTAIN level and above contains FREE MINI'S. Those FREE MINI's are dependent on the level (i.e. 2 Heroes, or Additional Troop and Support). Basically to give a slightly better deal. They are otherwise no different at this time from the other levels. And all add-on freebies have been stated as for all levels. Meaning there should be no difference at the end of the campaign between LIEUTENANT and CAPTAIN except for those two "FREE MINI's".

From what I can tell the free mini is you get to pick extras depending on what lvl pledge.

Commander +1 Free Heroin
Captain +2 Free Heroin
Major +1 free support box +1 Free Troop box
General +3 free support box +3 free troop box

the FREEBIES are extra gubbins
extra weapon for "model x"
extra weapon for "model y"
extra head for "model z"

I could be completely wrong but that is the way I interpreted it

Unless they're going to add additional free minis to Captain+ it looks like LT is the sweet spot for the 'freebies' or just the additional sprues of options. I think I was wrong and you guys have it right. Though, looking at it the way you interpreted it, it doesn't really have a "sweet spot", more just a "how much crap do you want" spot. But the way I'm seeing it now here and on the comments on the KS page, it's looking like the "free minis" are already in the pledge levels.

Ok "Gift minis" happy now?

DEALS!
For this Kickstarter, the base price of these miniatures has been DRASTICALLY REDUCED, from 17 to 40% off right off the bat.

And that's BEFORE the stretch goals, the freebies, the free upgrades, and the gift minis included in all pledges from CAPTAIN BOX and above...

GIFT MINIS!
Like an extra good deal? CAPTAIN BOX levels and above all include additional FREE minis! This is not the same as the FREEBIES, which you will be unlocking further down the road, and that will be added to all Pledge Levels at LIEUTENANT BOX and higher.

You could already say that "Gifts" are the extra mini's as a thank you for pledging so high. Still pretty clear as it stands. It's people reading to much into basic language that's causing the issue.

Truthfully I think they're in a whole other dangerous area now. I've seen a lot of Kickstarters that have actually become victims of their own success because it scaled so much further than the every could have imagined. They have said they've spoken with plastic injection people, and at this point that seems like a pretty reasonable direction to head in, yes? Dreamforge was able to do plastic injection at $205,000..... Which leads to a whole new area of trial, error, and so on.

I think this is the truth of it. The initial stretch goals that we annihilated showed their conservative roadmap. Now what? Go back and unlock their previous planned SGs, despite the fact that it would have zero net effect on pledges, which is what SGs are for. Or spread them out from here on, which may off put some.

I think they could a unlocked a few more then the did for our our vault to 200k. Not the the whole bag, mind you. But more then just the smattering of heavy troopers.

So far, the math clearly shows you get better value for putting in more money. Captain is the first pledge level where the money pledged is less than the initial value of items received.

Here's the initial breakdown (ignoring the KS exclusive since they all get one):
Lieutenant $165

$30 Heroines
$60 Troops
$60 Support

Initial value: $165 cash for $150 worth of figures.

Commander $245

$50 Heroines
$90 Troops
$90 Support
x1 Heroine ($10 value)

Initial value: $245 cash for $240 worth of figures.

Captain $365

$80 Heroines
$150 Troops
$130 Support
2x Heroines ($20 value)

Initial value: $365 cash for $380 worth of figures.

Take away the free Heroines and even Captain is $5 less value than the pledge level. Gotta say, as much as I want to see this succeed, I'd rather not pay MORE for my figures than the total value. I'm a little disappointed but will hold off joining the hatewagon until I see how the extras/add-ons change things.

Interesting. This has about 400 less backers but is about 50k higher than Deadzone's day one.

Now everyting has calmed down a tad I just realized we're over 200k into this and no free 'minis' have been added yet. Will have to keep an eye on this as I dont get on to well with KS that only have add-ons for SG.

It's amazing watching you guys - especially you Alpha - complain about every little thing. Shipping is too much (it's 20 bucks - deal with it). They're not updating fast enough (they just made over $200k in the first few hours - give them a second to catch up). The 'sweet spot' is too much (so you're trying to buy three armies at once?).

For value you've got to add in the KS exclusive figure so

Lieutenant $165

Initial value: $165 cash for $165 worth of figures.

Commander $245

$50 Heroines
$90 Troops
$90 Support
x1 Heroine ($10 value)
$15 KS Exclusive rocket Girl

Initial value: $245 cash for $255 worth of figures.

Captain $365

$80 Heroines
$150 Troops
$130 Support
2x Heroines ($20 value)
$15 KS Exclusive Rocket Girl

I agree with HBMC on this one. It was barely a few hours in, and already people making broad assumptions and decrying this or that.

Day one isn't even over yet, for the Warps sake, it hasn't even been 10hrs yet.

but... why would you arbitrarily subtract something that comes in the box and claim you get less value than you pay in? This seems a little odd.
