Any chance these became, I don't know, upgrades or add-ons in the main Herald profile?

Heralds on Steeds being relatively pillow fisted is sadness.

So, just to be clear Slaanesh Herald lost "all" their mounted options? The seeker mount, seeker chariot, and exalted chariot?

Just like the CSM Codex Lords losing their mounts. Just have to use the Index until GW gives us new models I think.

I thought the chariot kit included a Herald? This seems odd.

Confirmed. I assembled two chariots this weekend (sans Heralds, luckily) and the instructions clearly have a "use these bits for Heralds" section.

The new "Start Collecting" box for Slaanesh does not include instructions for this, so that should have been the first sign I guess :-/

rip Slaanesh

f

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

So.. Suddenly I’m thinking a couple of deep striking BTs, 5 or so cannons, 3 of units of bloodletters alongside 3 helldrakes for the sheer amusement of it all, all with 55 points left over for fun.

Probably get completely smashed, but 2 BT’s and 3 drakes in your face turn 1 would be challenging.

One of my current favorite strategies to play against my friend's Tau army is to run a detachment with 3 predators and a chaos lord. It's a little over 700 pts, but the amount of firepower they can dish out is insane. I think you would get more use out of that than running 3 heldrakes. The whole BS3 versus BS/WS4 makes a huge difference, especially with rerolling 1s thanks to the lord. The amount of supporting firepower that it offers to a melee army really helps shore up some weaknesses.

Edit: If you want to play for less funsies that is lol

Edit2: You could also swap out a BT for Skarbrand (with 15 pts to spare) to ensure that those pesky flyers cannot retreat assuming his special rule didn't change >=)

It will get completely smashed. Go for it, but that's too little bodies and not enough pain.

Any chance, with the Bloodthirster getting a spiffy new attack rule and the GUO getting revamped, that the Keeper of Secrets got anything at all? A discount, new options, better stats, etc?

I wouldn't count on it, Krisp. Seems like only the GUO and Specific Thirster got any love. Greater Daemons are still a missed mark.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

What's the cheapest Khorne Daemon brigade you can make? We'll need those CP if we want to make best use of that deep strike stratagem.

Not exactly the answer you’re looking for, but 170 points gets you a Renegades and heretics battalion, FWIW. 2 commanders, 3 units of cultists.

I've already drafted a rough list that combines Morty, Magnus and a Daemons brigade for the cp. Its a shame I can't seem to fit a 9 man flamer units aswell.

The cheapest Chaos Daemon Bridgade that you can make looks to be 996 points. 3 Heralds of Khorne, 6 min squads of Nurglings, 3 beasts of nurgle, 3 min squads of chaos furies, and 3 seeker chariots. A khorne exclusive one would not leave much room. You're probably looking at closer to 1300 or 1400 points.

Hikaru, can you confirm anything about Epidemius? Does he still grant armywide buffs, are they still built up in cumulative tiers, do you still climb the ladder by killing units with NURGLE DAEMON units, are the yields on each rung the same?

The second Locus is a Stratagem! Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

That Stratagem enables Magnus and Ahriman on Disc to re-roll

Mono Khorne still seems bad. Skull cannons I guess can camp objectives, some khorne can deepstrike... and what's in the middle? You still have about 50% pts left. You can go up the field with slow elite glass cannons... You can't just sit and shoot because you'll get outshot....

Basically, what happened to dogs and bloodcrushers? Are they still really bad?

Khorne seems like a supporting detachment.

As much as I hate to say it.. Summon the rest. Deep strike a couple of bloodthirsters, charge in, shoot the crap out of them with skull cannons, then turn 2 summon more of your army. BTs are characters, so they can perform the ritual and still charge.

I don't believe you can perform the ritual if the character themselves was summoned or arrived from reserves that turn

Too bad it didn't say how many CPs that psychic power reroll stratagem is. I really hope it's 1.

I love the idea of deep striking Magnus, then casting warp time and weaver of fates and smite with rerolls, and then in enemy phase rerolling all deny the witch thanks to the new 1k Sons warlord trait from chapter approved.

You can't. That's why I said to summon the rest on turn 2

With the new beta rules for smite and the fact that re-rolls apply before modifiers, isn't the new psychic re-roll stratagem a bit of a nonbo with smite?

I think we can confirm that the Chaos Daemon strategems and powers will not work on chaos space marine codex units by the use of non-keyworded "Tzeentch Daemons" in the previewed strategems and spells.

Unless hikaru can confirm that the stratagems and spells in the book use KEYWORDS.

If true, that would take away the only truly redeeming thing we've seen for this codex so far, other than a few minor buffs to underused units.
