This is kind of interesting. This isn't too bad if you don't own a rule book. For about $125ish bucks you get 25 pts of any army and the rule book. They are doing this for Hordes and WM factions. I was almost thinking on picking up another army with this one. Nice to see PP doing something other than raising prices,

If only it was a 'mix n match' kind of thing. I would go for that. I don't care how unwieldy/abuseable that'd be. I want it.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I'm a little disappointed it's not more imaginative than Battlebox and a couple of units/solos.

That being said, it seems like the expansions on the battleboxes are pretty useful. For example, Stones for Circle, Nihilators and Beasthandlers for Skorne, Choir for PoM, Winterguard+UA+Kovnik Joe for Khador.

I like the fact this is something you can easily build on, and for PP, it's just one more step to get more people up and running faster, and cheaper. So they aren't doing to bad promoting themselves by doing this. The units are spectacular, but they are at least a start.

The Mercenary one is kind of funny for me, since it is the suggestion I had when I bought a few. (ie, ignore the battlebox, just by Magnus, the Mangler, and two Renegades).

The Circle one, as a note, is really good.

And stuff.

Sadly I can't access PP here from work. I haven't played since MkI but my girlfriend is really interested in Scryah and Everblight models. So getting one of those deals and having the latest version of the rules could be really handy.

Any reviews on the usefullness of the forces offered for those factions?

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

As far as I can judge, all bundles seem very solid. I'm not an authority on Scyrah, but the package looks great ; mage hunters are a staple of the faction, the assassin is a bargain and a half, the Phoenix is a potent jack and the Banshee seems good as well. As for Everblight, I'm unsure about Warspears, but the Forsaken and Deathstalkers are excellent picks (fury management and sniper solos, respectively).

Does anyone know what kind the extra rulebook is? Softcover, hardcover, or a small pocket-sized one like in the WM 2 player starter? I looked around on the website but didn't see that part clarified anywhere. I'm going to assume it's the full sized softcover one, but I'd like to make sure before ordering anything.

Anyway, I'm considering maybe the Cryx or the Everblight one...

Full sized softcover.

Awesome, thanks.

In that case I'll probably go with Everblight, since I already have the WM softcover book.

If I had the money I would go for the Everblight one.

Anyone remember the sale last year? You know, the one right after the GW price rise...

Seems like this is going to be a regular event then. GW will always raise prices. I would get Everblight as I already have two factions of WM on the go.

The only difference in that and the Merc Battlebox is swapping the Talon for a second Renegade.

That's the suggestion I got. The Talon for Magnus is generally....useless, as far as I'm concerned. There's no reason not to run what's in effect an extra mini-feat for 5-6pts with hi.

And stuff.

Where should one go to expand the Scryah force? She really likes Rayven, and the look of the various armored melee troops. Any further infantry or jacks that will bring this to 35 nicely?

These boxes are really good. It looks like they took the player sugestions into concideration when the put then together. I may have to start a new Faction soon.

Sentinels will give you armoured hard hitting infantry (with the UA) A solo or two like the assassin, or Eiryss. Aiyanna and Holt could be a good purchase as well. Sorry for the vagueness of my answer, I play against ret a lot but can't remember their points to build a better list for you.

Happy birthday that day, my brother-I'll be 27 that day myself.

On topic, how is the Khador box for a deal? I've been interested and curious to pick up Warmachine, and at $125 it seems too good to pass up for what I understand is a decent sized army for WM. Anyone got any suggestions yay or nay on Khador?

The Khador box has one of the best options in the faction in it with Winterguard. Not the best caster for them (the various Iron Flesh casters win that prize), although they'll certainly enjoy Fog of War and easy targets from Sorscha's feat.

The khador army is a good expansion on the battlebox and is very playable, but if you can find someone to split the 2 player starter with and just got the winterguard and Joe on their own, you get an even better value. The 2 player box comes out as such a great deal you could sell the menoth stuff for peanuts (if you do want to sell it for peanuts pm me ) and come out even with the army deal.
If you have trouble tracking down PP products or just want to get something directly from PP the army deal is still better than retail with the free book added in and has a fine composition with reliable models.

Thanks for the heads up-I actually got the summer sale for Khador and my second choice would have been the Protectorate, so if I end up really liking it I'll buy the starter from my favorite game store when they do a 25% off day and just do some conversions on the bitz I already have, and lend off the second book to get friends into it. Hopefully you guys have a convert!

Is anyone else a little bothered by the fact that the Khador box is only 3 models away from the full Deathstar?

I have never played, so...what models are missing from the Death Star? I'm also considering getting the bitz to make a Black Ivan, since it sounds good from suggestions on here.

The winterguard could take three rocketeers to max out their unit.

Okay, I've asked this in the wrong thread so I'll ask again here. How long does it usually take for them to ship out the orders for these summer sales?

So, is there a link or something to the announcement? How do you guys know what's included with what?
