Which one works better, Tesla or Gauss?

I like tesla as it can put out a lot of wounds compared to the gauss

It really depends; do you want the AP3? Or the S6 with chance of more hits? Bear in mind that on the Anni barge at least, since the Destructor is TL you won't normally be firing at anything lit up by a Stalker, so it's unlikely that the cannon will be re-rolling To Hit rolls.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

When thinking about it, I've always been attracted to the Gauss option more, except perhaps against orks and dark eldar or against scarab lists. Truth be told I haven't used to Tesla option. AP3 Kind of sucks, but they have the same number of shots, average a very similar number of hits and the difference between strength 6 ap- and strength 5 shooting is negligible. You also have to remember Gauss cannons are one of your only guns that is getting more than one shot through against power armor. It seems like a nice gimme.

Well I can tell from experience that a Tesla can decimate most marine armies (including mech) Your biggest weakness is heavy transports which you make up for with Harbingers of Destruction and Triarch Stalkers

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I say this because as a BA army I was DESTROYED!!! Tesla took out my raven which had lasted for the last 4 turns but when you take 10+ glances from Tesla and then 4+ weapon destroyed. . . gg son gg

For the under-slung weapon gauss has always been my favorite, nothing like denying a spess mahreen his armor save

I've played 4 games so far with the new crons (I know, not many), but I was happy to have an AP3 weapon on the barge. With a 3+ armor save, you need 3 wounds from a tesla weapon to get a kill, but only one from the Gauss.

So, take the Gauss. You already have Tesla death coming from the destructor, might as well pack a heavy armor piercing punch to make up for the AP- on the destructor.

I definitely prefer the Gauss Cannon underslug, on both types of barges. It's fairly rare that I don't move my Abarges at all though, so I don't fire it all too often on them, but I find that the AP3 comes in more handy, than the Tesla cannon, in a lot of cases.

I doubt you'll use it often, but after playing tesla on both barges every game I've played with them, I think I want that gauss under-slung now.

Just imagine when you can sweep one vehicle to death and glancing another to helplessness in the same turn with the same vehicle.

Gauss.

First off, Ap3 (nice!).

Second, lets say a marine player gets a weapon destroyed on your barge. i realise that 9 times out of ten he will take off the bigger gun. But the thought of leaving a gun on the barge that can still deny them an armour save might make them think twice.

i like the though of a marine player getting into CC and smacking the tesla gun off, only to have the barge move back and melt two of them for their trouble.

on the forum. Obviously

I always choose gauss for my barges. I mean, you get a S5 AP3 weapon for free! That's a bargain right there.

I've made one Annihilation Barge with a Tesla Cannon. Since they are going solely for infantry in my list, I might have them all with Tesla Cannon and have the CCB with Gauss Cannon.

That wouldn't hurt would it?

Certainly can't hurt.

But if you are going primarily for infantry why not make all the barges with Gauss Cannons to get the AP3? Then you get the best of both worlds.

As stated above, Ap3 for free is just too good to pass on IMHO.

AP3 is just great against MEQs, especially on CCB where you can swipe, shoot and assault. And remember that Gauss glances on 6", so it's not a bad idea to shoot some random slugs on veichles, too!
