You could have a unit of 9 tacticals that are flipping off the enemy with both hands, they still have a bolt pistol and bolt gun.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Why Ghaz would win. 7 strength 10 attacks on the charge with WS6 (same as Vulkan). I assume we are talking about these guys fighting in CC. Ghaz would likely get the charge due to Waaagh! so 2++ save also. Furious charge for Ghaz also means they attack at the same time.
Vulkan 3++ save is nice but only 1 has to get through of the 7.

Fluff wise, Gaz is to tuff to be beaten by Vukan simply as that.

Ghaz both in fiction and in game.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

As a Salamanders fan from 3E I also have to say Ghaz as Vulkan is more of a support character - he exists outside the regular chain of command and is on a personal /chapter quest to look for the relics of the primarch. Space marine indiana jones.

Ghaz is the biggest baddest orc warlord ever!

Ghazkull would be like thirty feet tall in the fluff based on the idea that the biggest and toughest lead the orks. Seeing as how he is able to subject various tribes and clans quite easily we can assume he is pretty big. As we all know orks respect size. That and supposably as orks fight they grow larger.

So in short, ghazkull always wins

Ghaz easily. There arent many characters capable of bringing him down.

Ghazghull would destroy the memory of Vulkan from the fabric time itself.

Or maybe he'd just stick his skull on a stick..

Everyone's saying that Ghazgull would win easily and I agree. However, I think that Vulcan would still give him a "propa" fight, and while the outcome would be predetermined, there could be a good battle there in fluff: the type where Vulcan is beaten but just about survives to fight another day.

Yeah, GW writers would probably find a way for the fight to happen but for Ghaz to be stupid enough NOT to finish him off. Ghaz is up in the pantheon of most powerful characters in the 40k universe, so he would certainly win in game or on the table top.

Ghazgull would literally wipe the floor with him, bisect him, and then throw him away. If it actually happened that is. Knowing GW, they would both survive.

Better question;

Ghazgull Thrakka vs. Asdrubel Vect.

I'd probably have to go with Vect; he goes first, re-rolls to hit, always wounds on a 3+ and most importantly, has his own Shadow Field. However, it'd only take 1 wound from Ghaz to turn him into jellied purple mush...

In fluff terms, I can't see Ghazgull winning. In a one-on-one, possibly, but when would Vect be stupid enough to allow that? It'd be Vect vs. a Ghazgull that's only just survived 50 dark lances.

I agree, I don't think that would ever happen. Vect is just not going to ever go against Gazzy one on one. He is too smart to let that happen even if there is a really good chance that he would win.

I can see other SM commanders looking for the glory and might try to take on the big warboss. But there would be no profit in it for Vect to take on the big green boss.

How many characters are there that would both be ready to take on Ghazgull and able to bring him down?
Being ready to take him on is of course only in fluff, but bringing him down both game and fluff.

Abaddon, Draigo, Calgar, Sanguinor, Mephiston.. pretty much any of your standard SM EW powerhouses.

Of course it really depends if Gaz has his 2++ up. Most of the above could survive a round of pounding his 2++, except perhaps Mephiston. Without the 2++, Gaz is not so scary to the above five examples. Of course, with some good dice rolls (and that shiny 2++) Gaz could quite easily lay the pain down on any of them.

How about Drazha? He's not got an invun, but he's pretty nasty at hurting things, and he's an EW as well. Given that, what about all the phoenix lords?

Drazha's pretty tough, I'll give you that. He might be able to take Ghaz down.

As for the Phoenix Lords - well, even the most heavily combat orientated ones are hardly up to scale with what we'd consider combat monsters in the current run of codecies.

I don't like this question because the answer is obvious and there is no need to rub it into our faces.

Vulkan is a fantastic character, but he is not the Mary Sue that other characters like Draigo and Calgar are.
