I'm in the middle of a commission job at the moment, a guy from one of my local stores wants me to make him the (movie) Avengers as Orks. I realise that this is a strange project but I took it because it could be a bit of fun! I've nearly painted "Iron Mork", I've started building "Thork", who has everything but a cape and some detailing on "Mjorknir", and "Kaptin Orkmerica" is in the pipeline, I know exactly what I want from that.

But the problem is, what in the name of Gork can I base Da Inkredible Ork on? I've thought about a Dire Troll Mauler from Hordes, especially with the plastic release, but I think he'll stand a little big. I've also thought of an Ogre Bull conversion, but he doesn't quite have the musculature that Hulk has. So basically I'm looking for a base torso-d (or possibly naked, can sculpt pants) muscular miniature around the size of a Warboss or Ogryn, maybe a little bigger or smaller either way, which I can use to convert a Hulk style Ork, preferrably without weapons but this is not essential. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,
J

Couldn't you just sculpt muscle onto the orge bull?

I suppose, this was going to be my last resort, looking for an easier option first though haha!

A beastman doombull could work, take away the mane across the back and replace the head with a ork head of suitable size. The hulk didn't have a head fully in proportion with his body.

It's got giant muscles and is around the height you described.

What about the new DE Grotesques? Or maybe the rat ogres? They are both hypermuscly.

Cave trolls are a bit heavy around the gut, same as Ogres. A Hulk-like model needs to be stacked most heavily towards the top, with broad shoulders tapering down to a relatively narrow waist. Something more like this:

What about that buger? If you can find something that looks like Loki and replace the axe with his leg, it'd be perfect, and a scene from the movie.

Oadie, what the hell is that? That's perfect!
Deadshot, I was in GW today and thought about that. Might give it a shot, but he'd be the same size as all the rest of Da Avengas so I'm a bit apprehensive.

Another option I looked at was Morg N Thorg from Blood Bowl, but removing all of that armour is going to be so much effort :')

I love it when people post a picture of a mini, but then leave out what the hell it is
That is a perfect Hulk Ork. Make sure you post us some pics of your avengers ya?

Sorry about that, folks. I was in a bit of a rush, so I just posted the image without embedding a link. Figured the "hosted at www.reapermini.com" would be a big enough hint.

You can find the model here, if you're interested. I posted it more as an example (another reason I wasn't too troubled by the lack of link), since Reaper tends to run comparatively small. I have no idea if the model, jacked up as he is, would be large enough to tower over even a standard Ork Boy. If he is big enough, then after a simple head swap with the gaps filled, you're set.

YES, that is perfect! Gonna order that when I get paid Friday, and change the head for the screaming Ork Nob head. Give it a Hulky flat top, obviously.

KC, will do, for certain!
