I was wondering, I have been doing some reading today. I'm not entirely sure if a Chimera can use an Auto-cannon in the Turret within 5th Ed.

Thats all I needed to know. thnx

Hey man, page 99 in the IG codex, you can replace the Multi-laser with a heavy flamer or a heavy bolter both for free.
No auto cannon option I'm afraid.

thnx. I have another book that stated the autocannon as a choice, but was unsure if that was removed with "newer" books.

The standard GW Chimera has no option for an autocannon, however, Imperial Armour volume 1, does list it as an option. If your gaming group allows Forgeworld rules, then all that is required is you tell them you are using the Forgeworld rules for all of your Chimeras. Additionally, (although not a legal source) INAT Appendix does clarify that it is a legal option.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The FW website does have an IA1 update for free download; Here.

That update is in line with the current IG Codex, so if your group allows FW; you at least have current rules/points costs

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Indeed, I run autocannons on all of mine except one which has a twin-linked heavy bolter.

i like the autocan for the way it looks (more like a BMP) but mostly use it as a normal multilaser

The BMP is a low slung evil looking thing. The Chimera is a foolishly tall boxy thing with bizzare un-sprung tracks. The only thing that is really similar is the turret

I would pay 10 points for an autocannon upgrade, if it were available.

As would most. The AC is very superior to the ML. Especially when you account for how many AC's you could potentially put in a single list. Along with Vets with LC's that can fire at different targets and allowing hyrdas and vendettas, you could bring a very OP list.

Whats funny is for that ten points your tanks would be more expensive then a regular pred with an auto cannon and have 1 less BS and armour on both the sides and front

It is only 5 points(making it the same cost as the Pred); with all that less, but adding either a Heavy flamer or Heavy bolter, 12 model transport capacity and 5 model Fire point.

SO, yeah, I'd take the IFV over the LBT any day.

Which will die quickly to AC fire from the Pred, I would take the LRBT before spending that many points on a lousy chimera

Although for the same amount of points as a Predator, it is a transport, is amphibious, had another weapon, and you can take TONS of them without taking up a valuable heavy support slot.

The multi laser is superior to the Heavy bolter, there are a great many threads in the Tactics section that will explain to you why.

but I can't put a Multilasor in the hull?

only in the turret, but A) I did not have a multilasor, and B) the Heavy Flamer was "laying" around...
