Hey guys

Ive just...JUST started a chaos space marines army. i literally just own a daemon prince and a termie sorcerer lord!

My friend collects TAU and with the new ally chart he is mixing in some eldar, mainly a seer council which he keeps rambling on about.

Now everytime i even look at my models, just out of admiration, he slates them. says he gonna just ' shoot em down ' and with this doom/foeboding combination thing he's got in his head he never shuts up.

Now im usually quite a patient type of guy but my friend is driving me to wits end!, now matter what i say he comes up with some stupid explanation on how he is going to beat me... i mean 3 broadsides, with strength 10 ap1 rerolls witha range of 70... a 2+ armour save and 4++ with shield drones. Seems like a daunting task to wittle down.

He is the soul reason i sold my dark eldar. His troops glancing my raiders on 5's...

I really like my chaos, please help me!

Your friend has a head strongly resembling male genitalia, let him know! Seriously, hes being a straight-up phallus-head.

i have to say, i enjoy those kinds of friends. They encourage you to learn and be better.

Dont let his boasting about stuff (that hasnt happened yet), even bother you...

And dont sell your army just coz he beat you, that seems like a silly thing to do..

Whenever he says stuff like that, remain completely silent. Let him talk on and on until he runs out of steam, then after a pause, smile, and change the subject. Nothing like making someone hear themselves in an echo chamber to make them realise that they are being a dick.

If this doesn't work, tell him that you're sick of all his nonsense and that he's ruining your fun. After passive agressive mind games, honesty is the best policy.

You sold your eldar simply because your friend played tau?

I can't help you then, you won't adapt your army on your own.

He plays Tau, finish your Chaos army and routinely trash him in CC. I'm guessing you and him are kinda young/new to 40K, just because there really is nothing daunting about playing Tau nor anything to brag about in their use.

Farseer and Fire Warriors is a decent combo but just put anything in the chaos army into them in CC, almost anything will run them off the board.

TBH i sold my eldar because im a massive fan of magic.

Im new to 40k, and since the rulebook changed as i was going for a raider dark eldar army, then tanks kinda got kicked in the balls, it was a double blow for me.

I'm making my chaos army a tzeentch theme. which il enjoy just as much as the gaming side of it, but as you guys have quoted, he's being abit of a pain.

The sheer amount of high strength low ap weaponry he boasts about is daunting to me.... he keeps saying about my terminator sorcerer... 'il just railgun that' instant death.... then laughs whilst i merely try and paint!

Is there anything i can do which would making him think twice?, i said i could use my daemon prince and a flying monstrous creature of codex: Chaos daemons, and he still thinks he could kill it.

Get into CC with him, seriously, as a Tau player it's my number 1 nightmare. There is nothing in the Tau Codex that a Tau player wants to get into CC unless it's a VERY specific situation.

Don't even worry about railguns, they can only shoot one target each. Take some Raptors or Bikers and just run at his Tau. Don't worry about snap fire, it's not that good,

Also if you take a flying prince, I'm pretty sure he can only hit it on 6's. He'll do everything he can to get that out of the air whilst ignoring your other units.

I wouldn't play with someone who insists on being as big a jerk as he apparently does. Let him savor his sweet railguns on a lonely table alone.

This is what I'm thinking. The guy's taking the trash talk too far, but you should at least adapt to his tactics and units. DE vs. Tau isn't a bad matchup, and considering how quickly you can get into charge range with Raiders and Venoms I wouldn't have sold the army.

He's a tau player, shoot his tanks with missile launcehers / lascannons, shoot his troops with pretty much anything, + get into CC.

Yes Tau have impressive shooting (boosted some in 6th, Firewarriors even become semi-viable I think!) But regardless, if you hit him with your whacky stick, he'll fall over.

Also, as someone who plays Dark Eldar and Tau, it's almost insulting you sold up because his fire warriors could hurt your transports...

SO CAN EVERYTHING ELSE. In 5th, Raiders could be glanced to death by bolters. In 6th, it's easier, but that pulse rifles could do it too is frankly irrelevant.
DE Vehicles are paper thin, but hella fast, with an invulnerable save to boot.
Deploy with vehicles behind things so out of LoS, fly in, assault stuff. Tau is a harder match up for Dark Eldar - but I haven't lost a game to another Tau player with my DE army.

Ultimately, every army has strengths and weaknesses, and every list has strengths and weaknesses, if you're finding you're having a problem with a particular list, you adapt and try again...

Short of your friend being an ass just wait a month or so til the new chaos dex comes out and makes tau even worse than they are already. Proceed to taunt him about your new unbeatable force so on and so forth

10x Plague marines + 2x plasgun. 260 pts.
10x Plague marines + 2x plasgun. 260 pts.
10x Plague marines + 2x plasgun. 260 pts.

Elites:
10x Terminators with mark of nurgle and 10x powerfists. 440 pts.

Heavy support:
Land Raider. 220 pts.
Defiler. 150 pts.

Allies: Chaos Daemons
HQ: Epidemius. 110 pts.

Troops: 5x plaguebearers. 75 pts.

again i didnt mean to insult any1 by selling the DE army, it wasnt just through my friend, i was a mixture, like the lack of psykers.

im making a tzeentch army for that very reason! and i love the ahriman model, although seeing as though i need cc units i dont suppose that would fit into a tzeentch theme really...

By all means have your tzeentch army. For cc, you'll need a good defiler or three

Let him know in graphic detail, just how the Daemon Prince will defile the corpse of the impotent Farseer, while delicately breaking the puny Eldar's soulstone, freeing his soul to feed Slaanesh.

Say something along the lines of:

"First, the heavens will open, as warp storms tear open the sky, as my daemon prince forces his way into reality. He will shrug off your gunfire as if it were no more than dust, and when he gets close, he will rip apart scored of your puny forces.
He will stride across the bloody remains of your army, find your commander, and shove his 10-foot-long sword so far up that f'king Tau/Eldar's ass, that it will exit through his/her own mouth.
Your commander's intestines will then be sacrificed to the dark gods, and all that remains of the body will forevermore be worn as a trophy on my daemon's armour, as proof of how inferior you are!"

I suggest that as soon as your friend's commander is dead, you find a model that looks sufficiently like him, break it apart (if already built), paint with a corresponding colour scheme, and carry out the threat by sticking the body parts on the prince's base, and the head on it's back or belt.

Tau can never have Doom and Foreboding in the same army.

Tzeentch is a good choice these days for a few reasons. You can take allies yourself, and yours work better together. Play Chaos Demons as your main army and ally in your CSM, honestly the points values will be about equal if you want them to be, pick up fate weaver, and toss your Demon Prince into the heavy support slot and give him wings (flying MCs are great, and under the current faqs CSM daemon princes are jump, and CD daemon princes are flying...)

Next time he starts talking smack about re-rolling broadsides, you can give him a warm smile, and tell him that that is just adorable, and that you wish him the best of luck hitting your Flying Monsterous Creatures on 6s, and that even if he does you'll just be re-rolling a 4++ invulnerable save on eternal warrior models. Also tell him that you wish him the best of luck staying out of melee range with you, since most of your army will be deep striking right into his face and your fliers can move upwards of 24 inches in a turn. Oh and your ally CSM thousand sons and Mark of Tzeentch Terminators also get re-rolling 4++ save in Fateweaver's bubble.

Tzeencth armies should be able to beat the Eldar and Tau-hilariously lacking in anti air unless they take an imperial bastion- duo.

EDIT: Also ask him if he finds the idea of boon of mutation turning his farseer into a spawn as hilarious as you do . The best way to really troll an opponent is buy some chaos spawn, and an HQ model from each of their factions, then kit bash them together so that you can put down a spawn model that resembles their beloved HQ! That way when you successfully boon of mutation somebody, you can put down your "Eldar spawn" or your "Tau spawn", or if you play against marines, your "Draigo spawn" or your "Calgar Spawn". You get the idea!

Go 1K Sons on his butt, and laugh at his ap 1 railgun.

At the end of the day the general is much more important than the army.

The Chaos dex has more than enough options (even without including Daemons like bloodletters) to deal with Tau.

I'd chalk his constant trash talk up to him being extremely nervous. Get your army together and crush him.

I had a little 500 point game with my DE against some marines the other day. The marine player was trash talking like you wouldn't believe. So I just smiled and tabled him at the top of turn 3; I think the game lasted 20 minutes. Honestly, the game was over at the end of turn 1. It just took a little bit for him to notice.

Fortunately he was a good sport and just laughed about it at the end. Ultimately it was a fun game.

Tell him to STFU.

Then, get your Daemon Prince in close combat with his tau. Also, blast away his broadsides with your Obliterator squads.

Then, tell him to STFU again.

Chaos Space Marines is an excellent codex. Have fun with them, man!

Sit, and silently smile whilst plotting his demise...

...slowy build your CSM army, buying generic things, and when the new 'dex comes out, buy what you need to curb stomp him.
(If you dont play him untill the new 'dex is out, you can act like a smug after you win )

Very much in this vein, Buy a big solid dice (like a 12" solid dice made of wood) challenge him to a battle.



Ask to do a pitched battle.

Setup your army, and then let him setup his army.

Suggest you roll-off for 1st turn.

Produce your big die, launch it at his army, smashing and crushing his most expensive units. Then declare the number you rolled to shine him on.

Then point out he doesn't have the monopoly on being a dick and he should treat others how he would expect to be treated. You reap what you sow in this life.

I say, as he's talking walking over and poo in his shoe. See how long he boasts after that.

Impressive considering most people wear their shoes, (I cannot remember ever playing 40k bare foot - the thought of treading on a Metal miniature makes standing on Lego sound fun). However the sentiment is absolutely right on
