Readin through the rules I've come across the gunslinger rule. It states that a model with two pistols can fire both in the shooting phase. Therefore an odd idea came across - the danye bomb.

Dante + honor guard with 8 infernus pistols with jump packs.
Points 510.

Basically you hold in deepstrike and drop in with no scatter. You get 9 s8 ap1 shots plus 1 s4 ap5 shot.

You also have fnp from the priest giving a pseudo invulnerable save.

5 hit on average. Against vehicles you get melta in 3 inches which you are guarenteed due to no scatter.

I'm not saying its a good tactic but an interesting one for sure.

510 points. In a 1500 pts environment, you are playing with 990 points. And a killer deathstar. BUT invulnerable save exist. So Jink and Flat Out could ruin your day, Flyers ruin your day, and maybe even Terminators with Shields could ruin your day. Against everything else, it's good.

Not sure. A BA Honor Guard consists of 5 model. But your's carry 8 inferno pistols. Each Marine can shoot one weapon, not more.

Not true. If both weapons are pistols you may fire both pistols using the gunslinger special rule under pistols. Each model fires 2 infernus pistols.

Honestly because of the points its probably not reliable but still the gunslinger rule gives some tactical flexibilty to use multiple high strength weapons from a single model.

Captain Tycho + Sternguard Veterans w/ 4x combi-plasma and 2x plasma pistols on the sergeant + drop pod.

385 points.

10 plasma shots at close range, a CC powerhouse in Tycho alone, an accurate deep strike (not as accurate as Dante, mind you) and those wicked nasty special issue ammunition boltguns after you blow your plasma load all over the enemy's face.

Plus your sternguard sergeant is dual-wielding plasma pistols in close combat. He's a pretty bad dude.

If you are doing a Dante bomb run a Librarian with blood lance. Not scattering allows you to line up a good lance shot. That way you at least can hurt more than one thing when landing.

That's what Tycho is for. He ignores armor saves, hits most targets on a 3+ and wounds on a 4+ with a reroll, has artificer armor to soak up wounds, as well as a rosarius and Look Out Sir! if need be. He wouldn't stand up to some of the bigger, more expensive death stars out there, but for its cost, this is a very effective unit. The veteran marines aren't half bad either. They're far from a dedicated close combat unit, but they're not terrible.

You still get over watch with 9 s8 ap 1 shots. then just just have Dante for close combat. So yes and no. better than a ,normal assault squad worse than vv or terminators.

I'd run this, tack on a jump libby with divination powers (reroll saves or invun save preferably). Would be hella fun. Not competative in any way shape or form, but fun (you can get 10 terminators for the same cost)

To be fair, 9 S8 AP1 shots at BS1 are completely unspectacular to anything but other marines

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.

Would all the guys end up in '3 range though? you still hav to hav them in the deepstrike circle and the guy at the far end of it shouldnt be withing 3 inches, especially since the nearest model has to be '1 away from the vehicle

Somebody tried something a lot like this on me once, granted in 5th ed rules.

Dante, 5 Sang guard all rocking infernus, sang priest with infernus and PW.

Dropped in, roasted a serpent and some people inside. Next turn I put a fire prism template on them, and wiped the entire squad in a single shot.

It is almost certain to remove any threat it wants, but is unlikely to survive based on how high priority it is. I assume 10 honor guard, dante and a priest would be no different. A lot of armies can put down high S low AP templates, wiping this expensive unit off the table in a single volley.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I don't think you'd get 9 shots anyway as you can't equip the Sanguinary Novitiate with any additional wargear (FAQ'd).

Still 7 S8 AP1 shouts could do some damage if you wanted a vehicle gone or a death star unit whittling down. I would maybe run it for fun but it's far too much of a point sink to justify otherwise.

You get 9 shots because Dante has an infernus pistol (granted at BS5 when not snap-shooting) and then the rest are slingin'. The numbers are correct, only 4 honour guard are given dual pistols, the novitiate stands there and helps you feel no pain and furiously charge and such.

Then your opponent should have roasted that Fire Prism first.

This can be a fun drop unit but you have to look ahead to what can hurt you back and what terrain you can use to your advantage. Not scattering is a huge advantage and lets you place them exactly where they are the most deadly. And don't forget that they are very mobile on their next turn so dropping on one flank behind building and nuking whatever you see can be powerful if it makes your opponent send lots over to deal with it, or run away since they can't see it.

QFT on that. I'm seriously considering getting some bikes to have a tough, speedy ground force. Also I'm loking forward to taking Tycho as my primary HQ. He's soo much better now than he was in 5th, and rightly so as he's a complete dude!

I also like how Sanguinary Guard have better chances of survival (provided they aren't grounded by TEQ - that's just a case where you just don't put all your eggs into that type of basket) - Dante became more viable, and if you wanted to make more use of Death Company's bonuses, Astorath became much more useful now!
