So guys,
I was wondering,
What is the best deal GW have given you on a miniature?
If you know store managers/staff well they will sometimes do you deals on minis.

My best 2:
I got a metal Skaven Warlock Engineer for £4 because the blister pack was slightly dented.

I got a finecast Space Marine Sternguard Veteran for a pineapple. Best. Trade. Ever.

Come on and post your own wacky trades/prices you where offered!

Cheers,
TMP

Dark Eldar: 10 Wyches, 1 Succubus
Skaven: IoB, 3 Extra Rat Ogres, 1 Grey Seer, 1 Warlord

I've never been offered anything apart from retail price, and I'm a bit of a regular.

That being said, if there is a price rise, and the old price is on the box, then he does it at the old price.

Yeh, I have had the wrong price on boxes before.
It's always good when that happens (unless the price is higher).

I got Ghazghull and 9 MANZ for free, all I had to do was paint them and let them be the store unit for Armageddon campains during the second war for armageddon. After the summer, they were mine!

This was 15 years ago when they let us pick our own bitz and pay by weight too so it was a different age.

Well, do you remember when all the natwest nonsense went on and people had accounts Hax000r3d essentially?

That happened the weekend of the release and It stopped me from buying one.
So I just thought I'd email the dudely in charge of GW, let him know what happened and see if there was any chance of one being found for me.

Didn't hear anything back for a few days and then I got a big ass parcel in the Mail, they got my address from my Games Workshop account and sent me one! I even got an email back from Mr. Wells himself telling me that he sent me one because of what happened!

16 guys came in a box for 20 dollars. I picked them up before they started the "Anial Price Rise" BS.

Then they used to sell tanks for 20 bucks, as well. I got two or three for that 20, by the way.

THEN., blisters used to be around 3 to 4 bucks. They had three to five guys in there, as well.

The brest deals I got from GW was when they were closing their local store. Everything was discounted at 10-20% off, and whatever you bought, before final sales, you reached your hand into the bucket for another 5-50% off. The tables were raffled off too, so I won one of those along with the terrain that covered it. Decent deal all told.

The other time I got a bumpin deal was when there were running an anniversary event. They went and took the apocalypse army kits, busted them open and sold contents individually. Command squad, tac squad and rhino for $15 each.

I used to get many great deals dire toy from GW when they had store opening 3 for 2 deals and the like but that was 10-15 years ago! Most of the stuff I got was like that.

Since then not allot except when they give you free stuff for damaged/ballsed up orders or packing errors.

Two weekends ago, actually.

Went to Warhammer World with the girlfriend and my sister. Purchased some Mk.IV Assault Marines, there was no price on the bag and another employee had turned off the FW website on the terminals they have for price-checking. Not sure what happened next as the chap proceeded to sell them to me for £20. It was either a slow day, he so loved the Emperor's Children that I had just shown him on my phone or he was busy watching over my girlfriend and my seventeen year old sister.

RRP £32.

Bought two Laser Blasters at Warhammer World, each costing £50.

Guy opens the box so we can check they're fine, hands it over and says "That'll be £50 please."

Speechless, I hand over the money and cheese it before he can realise that he's £50 out of pocket.

My local model shop had a stack of 6 GW Rhinos old and new shape and they were sat on the floor as they had no shelf space, i took all of them to the counter and there was no price tags and i got them for £10

But from GW themselves, nothing , i have never seen them having a sale or any kind of discount.

I got the best deal on a box of 20 Necron Warriors. They cost maybe $25 bucks but I got to assemble them (2 hours), Paint them (2 hours) and they have been in every tournament I've played in for 5e. Which would be about 20. 20 x 8 = 160 tournament hours. Plus a monthly pick up game (4x12 = 48 pick up games at 2 hours each. So 96 +160+ 4 = 260 hours out of my $25 box of figs or about 9 cents per hour for entertainment.

Sadly my local GW manager has been told specifically NOT to sell damaged boxes, which is unfortunate as his store has to write them off as losses. He has quite a few in the back room that can't be sold or even given away. I think he ends up using them for bits for in store terrain and such.

A Sale!

I remember that!
While I didn't get anything for free, I recall the GW stall at Orgins in 1993 (when it was in Dallas Texas) having a sale on blisters of the old lead based models. By the last day of the con' they were giving them away at 50% sticker price. I loaded up....well as much as I could as most of my con' shopping money was gone by the last day!

As to more recent purchases, I guess the last good deal I ever got from GW was the last bag of plastic slotta bases I bought a cuople of years ago. I buy alot of second hand minitaures that often lack their base and for a long time I was also using GW bases on my historical skirmish stuff as well. (WW2, Modern, etc) That all came to a screeching halt of course when GW dropped the bags of single base sizes and started selling those awful moxed bags instead.

Way back when they sold carboard terrain, my brother and I were given the stores Bastion. It was a little beat up around the top of the battlements, but otherwise in good shape.

The rest of the staff were annoyed because the manager promised them they could jump on it, but then decided to give it to us.

My FLGS once threw in an opened and returned but new on the sprue devilfish with my first initial (and somewhat huge) army purchase back in the day. Along with 50% off of all the blisters. Musta saved me like over a hundred bucks easy on my $500 splurge.

Not technically a deal from GW though, since they aren't into the whole "sale" concept that seems to serve the rest of the retail world so well I doubt I'll ever see a deal from them.

that's not so bad, there's a fair selection of choice bits in most of the fail cast, that are ready to be used for terrain, so in that regard, it's better than using intact product for stuff like this. Still, it is a shame that it can' tbe used as even a pool of replacement parts. If I could walk into my local GW with a box of damaged goods and get replacements from them for bad parts, it'd be awesome.
