Best deal?

They let me walk out with my wallet unmolested.

I decided not to tempt fate and haven't been back.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

When I decided to start Infinity rather than buy anything else from GW and got a 400ish point Nomad force (maximum game size is ~300 points) for £60, along with their rules which they (CB) publish for free online.

At one store I visited I mentioned my Warrior Prime needing a Lash Whip and Bonesword...So the guy in the store went and got a pair of Finecast Hive Tyrant arms. They were badly miscast, but seeing as they were free I'm not complaining.

Bought an Imperial Baneblade for 76€ (normal price would be 90€)
Also got another box of assault terminators after I bought one which was slightly damaged in the post. GW actually apologized and sent the new one next day. I didn't even call them

there seems to be an awful lot of consensus around the fact that GW provides outstanding service in the Customer Ripoff, Overpricing and Customer Lack of Appreciation departments...

Not according to my experience with them. I have always received a very polite and businesslike response whenever I have contacted the customer service. As for the ripoff, well, everything is expensive these days tbh.

I have a mixed CS experience. The first one was total abject gak, and the in-store treatment is just terrible. However, when I called to follow up on the status of my missing replacement, the guy was courteous enough to believe me that I DID in fact buy and send back a pair of boxes of defectives, and sent two replacements out without any proof from my end.

That said, I'll still be calling them next week to find out if they got the two boxes i sent them back as yet......

The best deal I have ever gotten was on the 2011 SM mega-force box. The retail price was a great deal (for GW) and then with 20% off from my FLGS, it was literally too good to pass up. Ended up being like 45% off of retail if bought individually.

I once got 50% off on my order direct from the GW site. I ordered 2 DE khymera and 2 Razorwing flocks, they screwed up and somehow dispatched the order twice, only charging me once

I remember those... I'm kicking myself for not getting the armored company.

Best 2nd hand deal:
I got a space marine mega force + 2 boxes of assault marines + Land raider at a local pawn shop for $6. They were assembled and primed thickly but still $6.

Best GW retail purchase:
Iyanden boxed army $250 got you 10 Guardians, 15 Wraithgurad, 3 warlocks, 1 farseer, 3 wraithlords, and 2 support weapons.

When Storm of Magic launched I was talking to a regional manager who happened to be in a local shop about how cool the new models were however I would not buy any finecast only plastic due to issues I have had in the past.

The RM grabbed a cockatrice from the shelf and handed it to me and said hopefully this model will give you faith in our product. It was pretty cool he had the store manager write the model off.

The funny part of it all.. I got home opened it up and it was a bloody mess.

Ah, I have a TON of those. Kid knocked over my resin rex and shattered him totally. The store manager gave me a baneblade and a retail voucher covering rex as as an apology. Now I have imperius Rex, and Inquisitor Rex.

Then my grey knights dreadnought, resin built. One of the store guys cracked the DCC arm in half. Again, voucher for the cost of the dreadnought (not just the arm).

Finally, I got given for FREE all the space ork 40K BFM pieces.

Right now the best deal I've gotten from GW is the Necron Annihilation/Command Barge kit. For $38, not only do you get the Barge itself but you also get a plastic Overlord figure for free, saving you from spending an extra $20 on the Finecast version. Also using the Lychguard kit to make Crypteks and Lords and combining leftover Deathmark parts from the Immortal kit with the extra Warriors I have lying around are money savers as well.

They threw metal farseers or something into orders for a while... Metal Eldar in the egg helmet with a pistol and spear, I believe. Some sort of random thank-you gift. No real use for them as I never played Eldar, but one did make a good core body for a conversion to my Witch Hunters Adversary force:Game him a Tyranid hand holding a Tyranid Warrior head in it and a bearded head, and he's a good heretic leader/genestealer cultist type.

(My Adversaries block was designed to be a few hundred points and had components from pretty much every faction in it, despite being nominally a 'genestealer cult.' Lots of Tyranid bits, but one guy with Kroot legs, a guy with some Necron tails for heads, s guy with a Squig for a head, etc. Host bodies were a mix of Catachans and old Necromunda plastics. Fun bunch of freaks I made one weekend when I was in a lousy mood and leaving the house wasn't a fun option.)

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Years ago, (mid 1990s.)I went into my local GW store , and got chatting with the manager about Dark Future, and how much fun it is with DMC and WLF add ons.

I said I know its OOP but had he got any old stock in the back store room...
He dissapeared and re apeared with a BNIB copy of DF, 2 opend boxes and about 50 blisters .

We played a demo game from the opened boxes, he sold the BNIB copy, and a half the blisters to a group of gamers, and let me have the 2 open boxes and the rest of the blisters for £15.(Full RRP £125).

Now I can not even talk about 'non core games' in my local GW ....(So I dont go in any more.)

Got $200 worth of vouchers from work, for free. Walked into GW and bought 2 boxes of Lychguard and 2 boxes of Immortals. Take away the $200 and the final price was $20. 20 models for 20 dollars!

The other great deal was on the Tyranid army box that came out for 4th Ed. I had sat in the store unsold for probably 2 years, if not more than that. They had it in their display cupboard with a heavily reduced price (yes, in a GW store!) and my friend managed to haggle them down further (yes, in a GW store!) so I could take it off their hands. Got it for around half if not less than half price!

That happened the weekend of the release and It stopped me from buying one.
So I just thought I'd email the dudely in charge of GW, let him know what happened and see if there was any chance of one being found for me.

Didn't hear anything back for a few days and then I got a big ass parcel in the Mail, they got my address from my Games Workshop account and sent me one! I even got an email back from Mr. Wells himself telling me that he sent me one because of what happened!

That can't be true.

Actually, I do remember something. At GamesDay they had a discount stall selling all of the OOP stuff at ridiculously low prices (WD, inks, 20-man cadian boxes, books) and I managed to pick up 4th edition 40k for £0.50. I would have bought more stuff if it wasn't for the hordes of people trying to get in on all the offers.

Strange thing is, I've been to GD twice since that year, and that discount stall has never returned

Remembered another one.

When the Defiler was released during the EoT campaign, there was some packaging SNAFU over in the UK. This actually ended up benefiting some players, as I got two Defilers in the one box. So I walked in, bought two, and walked out with three thanks to a packaging error!
