I'm a space marine player who is playing my friend (ORCS!) with bombers tomorrow. I don't have my stormtalon ready to go yet, and I don't have any fortifications. All I have to combat his bombers (I think) is the trusty space marines ML. But I'm not sure if flakk missiles are in the space marine loadout yet. The pictues in the BRB (pg 55) show all three missiles, and the weapon stats on pg. 415 also show all three. Can I assume that a model with a missile launcher has access to flakk missiles now?

Death to the Xenos!!!

No. Codex Space Marines (or any codex at the present time) does not have the option to take Flakk Missiles.

No, you cannot use Flakk missiles - the BRB says some launchers can pick them as an optional upgrade, and you have no rules to govern such an option.

Weight of fire should be fine - they're AV 10 so even mass bolter fire works.

No you may not, Imperial scum. There have been several threads on this already and I'm sure you can find a couple if you flip through the first couple pages of YMDC. Basically, if read the rules on pg 55, they tell you that the Flakk missle is an optional upgrade. Unfortunately at this time, there are no codexes that give you that option. You cannot go by the fact that in the back of the book it lists all three missles, because there are other instances in those lists where they list a weapon with purchaseable firing options, and do not indicate that they are an option.

6's to hit, 6's to glance. That sounds like a lot of wasted bolter rounds. Anything else I could use besides the stormtalon or fortifications?

On pg. 57 of the BRB under the missile launcher stats, it reads "some have the option to upgrade to include flakk missiles." And since none of the current codices have that option, that would mean there are no Flakk missiles currently in the game. It's just in the rulebook as a reference for future codices, something GW has been know to do before.

Assault cannon would be nice. Still 6s to hit but 4 shots to try and glances on a 4. Or a dakka predator. 2 autocannon hits at str7 and 6 heavy bolter hits at str 5.

Aegis Defense line with flakk gun or lascannon.

Should do the trick, and really simple to rep on the battlefield. (Even if you do not own the GW model).

Take a small contingent of IG. Make the HQ and Troop as cheap as possible, and as a HS choice take 1-3 Hydras.

Are Hydras in the IG codex, or are they some Forgeworld concoction?

IG Codex, but Forgeworld has the actual models for them. Plenty of kit bashing ideas on the web though.

Just a bad case of IOM entitlement

AV 14 does not a good tank make, especially when those AV 10 turds are toting Dark Lances

Ork fliers aren't too shabby. They are relatively inexpensive, pointswise, and look awesome.

The Dakkajet can put out soem serious firepower, especially on a WAAGH turn.

The Burnabomma carries a decent payload of AP4 /ignores cover. Marines might not worry overmuch, but other races surely will

The Blitzabomma is a fair to decent tankhunter, and can kill you by getting too close on a flyby while (sometimes) just getting shaken itself..

Are they BS-powerful and cheap like the vendetta? No

Are they useful to the Ork style of play ? Hell yeah!

Well, the current DE dex never really struck me as a CC orientated codex. More of a circle-around-the-enemy-and-shoot-them-alot-and-then-charge-the-survivors sort of army.
A finesse army, basically, relying more on speed and accuracy than brute strength.

Depends on whether i was sneaking up on someone quiet-like, to launch a surprise shivving or not..as DE prefer to do

Scalpel - *tiny noise of flesh parting, occasional quiet bubbling sounds...*

Chainsaw - ** VRRRVRRRRVRRRRRRRRRRR ** - target turns around as you step up, and shoots you dead.

My DE like scalpels

My Orks like Chainsaws

'Chainrip?? Are you insane?'

Scapel mate.
They make excellent throwing knives, and there's a subtle psychological horror behind it.
Now all I'll need is a surgical table, some leather straps, a camera, and some way of avoiding War Crime trials.

Horrible? Yes. But considering who we are talking, its certainly appropriate.
