As the title says; I'd like to compile a solid list of Warlord-killers per codex. It has to be a unit, including any special character upgrades, but no IC's. IC's count as a separate unit. Whether it's a particularly strong unit at challenges, or a precise unit for picking off characters, post who you think is the best in separate codices.

List so far:
IG: Medusas
Tyranid: Warrior Shrikes, LW, Bonesword
DE/Eldar: Harlies
SM: Chapter Champion

Thoughts, Dakkaites?

0 for 3?

Vindicare might take down a Warlord over multiple turns, but Look Out Sir! will probably stop it.
IG, CCS's can't take Harker.
Scout squad with telion might work, if not for LOS.

To kill a Warlord, you need something with a higher rate of fire and very low AP to burst through whatever they are currently surrounded by.

Alternatively, get in CC. That's what I usually do.

For Guard it's indirect artillery, hands down, with no other option even close. You can place the pie plate on the head of your preferred target, and if it doesn't scatter, every wound you do is applied to the target first. Artillery also has the advantage of being good at the "old fashioned" way of killing characters: killing the squad around them.

Hah, well I play guard, so I'm not much for specializing anyways

Ork nobs as part of a mob. If you get that PK into a challenge, the rerolls from the 20+ boyz should make it pretty useful.

my chapter champion in my honor guard have taken a couple warmasters down already.

reroll to hit and wound always in a chalange is ok. 2+ save helps.

How fare nob bikers? All characters mean precision strikes are flying left and right, and they're still tough to kill

For Necrons, basically any Lord or Overlord can be decked out to wreck any single model in 1-on-1 combat.

2+/3++ with Rezz Protocols, Toughness 5, Strength 7 AP 1 attacks, Mindshackle Scarabs, Tesseract Labyrinth.

Space Wolves have the character sniping JotWW. Also, a unit of Wolf Guard (all characters) can allocate 1/6 of their attacks and can be given nearly any weapon.

The medusa is a terrible warlord killer. A basilisk or colossus would be much better, with indirect fire sniping. Probably the best guard challenge reciever is a CCS, and the best at all is probably ratlings. Look out, sir! may be a 2+ against most warlords, but ratlings put down a lot of shots, and can accept orders to twin-link against monstrous creatures or make cover worse against things in cover.

For eldar, how could you possibly overlook pathfinders. 10 BS4 models that cause a precise shot on 1/3 of their hits? A few units of those, combined with an otherwise strong eldar list is able to pick out an awful lot. Also, I'd note mind war.

For CSM, say hello to gifts of chaos.

You ONLY get those rerolls if the enemy character is the ONLY enemy left in the entire combat.

Generally, it depends entirely on how the opponent's Warlord is deployed. In a vehicle? In a mob of 30+ models? In a unit of smaller, but elite and hard to kill models? A lone soldier not attached to any unit? They all require different approaches. Hive Tyrants and Overlords in Barges are both very different from the norm, and will need different approaches to kill them.

Another nice one for the Necrons is Deathmarks, I just started using them in 6th edition cause they sucked in 5th. 2+ wound on a marked unit, 24" range deep striking and rapid firing(double shots if you're brave enough to chance that deep strike drift and get closer), and you get to pick their warlord on a 6 to hit. I guess snipers in general are pretty badass with the new rules.

Death Marks with an attached Necron Lord (SW, MSS and Warscythe).

(hey, that's a normal squad with an attached character, no IC!)

Orks can use Old Zogwort for 145 pts. He has a psychic power that turn IC into a squig on a roll-off. Not the most reliable, even for orks, and I guess the warlord isn't really dead after...

Actually, it's better than dead. Bypassing all saves, and anything that could bring the character back. You're effectively removing the models wargear, special rules, unit type, and reducing them to a str3 t2 w1 model

For Space Wolves, Arjac. He's a pretty good beatstick himself (though an expensive one).

Edit: For Tyranids, it seems like anything with a Lash Whip/Bonesword combo could do it.

No one brought up CSM Salaanesh daemon sword lord? Strikes at I6 with instadeath on wound. Wouldn't use them against necron MSS though
