Indeed, here are better photos.

Bit of a rush as most of my recent projects have been. But still happy enough with them. The wolf needs teeth, just noticed, and the black guns need an edge highlight. Otherwise they will do.

I could finish another 9 model warband by painting two skaven and dipping the lot. May do.

I'm up to 4 ratfolk based factuons in theory...caravaners, peacekeepers, rat tribals, and rat raiders now. Need to build them before the ideas dissipate. Joined by the forge father preservers and my sea creature mutants all six basic factions would be represented for an underworld sub campaign. Because I don't know why.

Thanks guys

The sewing machine thingies are actually not that..as far as I can tell. They're from a line of scrapbooking bits. The line is called Spare Parts. So while they're basically those thingies that go atop the sewing machine, bobbins I think? They kind of aren't Basically overpriced junk for those who don't have the original junk laying around. But they were heavily clearanced and look very much like cable spools

Trying to get myself to finish an orc boss so I've got *something* done for Az's tale of painters challenge but motivation is lacking. The little one is very snotty and not likely to stay asleep or be kind tomorrow, so even though it's a holiday I'm not likely to get as much done as I'd have liked. Ahh well, 9 barbarians is something, though it's my weakest month so far painting-wise.

Can't decide if I want to do 6 more months of Orcs for the second leg of the challenge, or if I'd rather focus on a new project along the lines of a new TNT warband each month, or a batch of Infinity figures each month. Those two would be different month-to-month and a bit more free with stretch goals and side projects. Of course, doing the orcs would probably give me a sizable fantasy army by the end of the year.

Probably Gonna have slow progress for most of the year anyway and then slightly better November/December. The real progress months will be January, February, and maybe most of March. And all dependent on the whims of the children. The smaller one will be getting more and more mobile and easier to feed in some ways..both of which can *potentially* free up more time. Of course if she's needy then nothing changes

Was poring over 4X space games for an hour or two today. Been reading a really neat scifi series and was in a space mood. Stellaris looks cool but my tabtop surely won't run that and I watched a lets play of Endless Space and when they got to the guts of all the crap you could/needed to know about each planet in your empire my eyes popped open and I closed the screen. Too in-depth for me. I like the idea of a space empire in theory but I dunno that was too spreadsheety for me I don't really want a space combat or flight simulator though. Something like the 4X but smaller in scope. Like FTL if you had a planet or something. Or that old smugglers game, kinda reminds me of the buy stuff at X and take it to Y for profit thing you can do in games like Mount and Blade. I guess I want to build something...just not a whole freaking empire with too much handling going on. Not like I get a lot of time to play anyway, loading up one of my almost-finished JRPGs instead lol.

Thanks guys.

Not been much going on. Been mildly sick (again lol) and picked up Stellaris which has consumed my scant free time. Usually too tired to paint anyway.

Need to do an orc unit this month and finish that other rider so I can say I did one each month for Azazelx's tale of painters challenge. Trying to decide which project to swing for the second leg of the challenge, the next 6 months.

Could do:
More orcs, have a proper fantasy army by years end or

Infinity teams/bunches, because I have too many or

TNT warband each month, possibly the six rat/underworld
themed groups or

Forge father army including various infantry walkers and big guns (tanks dint exist yet) or

Maybe another fantasy Army to go with the orcs.

I think I pretty much let you guys decide what I did last time and that's mostly worked out soo... thoughts?

Well, being as Dakka is a mostly started as 40k site, Orks with k is normal, but yeah fantasy Orcs works too!

So. Theo didn't vote (unless the Smurfs get their own honorable mention category) though he did mention the orcs too

But that leaves us with 4 for orcs, 2 for TNT warbands, and one for the forgefather army, if we're counting wishiwashiness or multiple votes

Orcs still in a pretty strong lead. I'd probably have to do the smaller stuff in the first couple-three months due to time constraints. A rough guess would look something like..

Skulks Troop
Trolls Regiment (still just 3)
Giant
Skulks/Ax/Greatax Troop
Ax Regiment
Greatax/Morax/whatever Regiment
Chariot/Fight wagon regiment (or whatever 3 is)

Obviously all 7 would require getting above and beyond goals completed, or just dropping a duplicate. The gore riders seem like they'd be lonely without something else at least kinda fast. Would also make sense to do some minor orcy terrain too. Something simple like huts/tents or objectives. Just to cap it out. Nothing ambitious though due to time.

On one hand, I'd like to see you bump up and get the Orc army to a point where it's a mean green smashin' machine.

On the other hand, I've seen that you've run out of steam a little on them, so maybe it's not the best project. You'll have much more fun painting something you're enthusiastic about than something that feels like work.

I'd suggest an and/or target, which is similar to what I'll be doing for the latter half of 2016.

1 "unit" of Orcs and/or <insert thing you really want to work on.>

That's a good idea, maybe a nit of orcs and an infinity model as you've been knocking some of those out. Plus I think you have a drawer of them still too

I might be a little late, but I’d like to see you do some of the Infinity stuff. Cool looking minis.

Back to the 4x question, have you ever looked into Sins of a Solar Empire? Older game that was recommended to me when I was looking. Pretty fun.

So now we're at 5 orcs, 3 TNT, 2 Infinity, and 2 forge fathers.

Given the facebook groups I frequent, I'll proxy vote for those and bump it to 5 orcs, 4 TNT, 2 Infinity, and 3 forge fathers.

So orcs do seem to be gaining some competition. And nobody is late to the party, very unofficial kind of voting here, none of it matters for another month (although getting some prep work done now would help grease the wheels of future progress..).

@Nev, I did consider Sins of a Solar Empire when I was looking these up. And I've been enjoying Stellaris quite a bit so I may want another game in the genre afterwards. I initially skipped Sins because it appeared to only have three races/factions and I wanted off-the-wall crazy alien stuff. One of my favorite things about Stellaris is how procedural it is. I've made two random races in two different galaxies and neither has encountered aliens or events quite the same way. A lot of replay value and it's neat. Once I don't care about that as much, I may give Sins another look.

Hmm... I've been letting you guys do all the voting, I haven't really considered what I actually *want* to do the most. A non-orc fantasy army appears to be off the radar and I can agree with that. I like having big shelf-dominating armies though they're more work so I'm kind of more neutral on the orcs/forgefathers.

And the other two options are much the same, just different systems. I mean, I could even migrate them into a more generic category "Monthly Factions" and then they'd be slightly ahead or Orcs between them. Of course spreading the love between different systems loses a lot of the appeal of 'building an army' that the challenge originally entailed.

Hrmrmr. Your inputs are greatly appreciated (that's what sh...no, no we won't go there), I'll figure something out

Orques.

And what you want to paint takes precedence, naturally.

I think the sewing machine things are called bobbins.

Nice group of barbarians and amazons (IIRC, amazons did wear armor with the left breast exposed, at least according to some classical source-- Homer?-- I read many years ago...) Are you going to pick out any details on the wolve's faces? A quick dark spot with a small white spot in it for the eyes would do wonders. And nice yellowish teeth.
