So you all got TFG stories(and the last one got locked, so lets keep this Civil)

Ill start with one last night. It was an apoc game, 2000pt per guy 2 people on each side(we thought more would show up) The guy brings an all flier list with 2 ally detachments.
He also brings a baneblade, He uses his baneblade on me with night fighting in effect. he tries to use his searchlights first, but i tell him he cant, Queue a 10 minute rant about how im wrong he isnt, i have to get the rule out saying he cant until he is done firing all his weapons. So then he is pissy at me the rest of the game to the point where everyone wants it to end.
And this is the second time i got into a rules argument with him. both times i show him and i have to get someone else to confirm that im right even though im showing him the rule right there.
So what are you TFG story?

Most of my experiences have been positive in 40k.

There was this one time I was new to the area so I got a pick-up-game with someone when the new Tyranid Codex had come out. I made a list and brought my models.
Other guy complained about the Doom of Malantai, and I assured him I wasn't using one.

Anyways, the guy really didn't want to read or hear about all the extra rules around Tyranids. He told me to tell him when it would become relevant; I at least made an effort to explain to him how Shadow in the Warp works. Much of the time, he spent distracted with talking with other people and generally not paying attention to the game.

He takes Mephiston, has it move near my Hive Tyrant, and then activate a Psychic Power. I explain to him again how Shadow in the Warp works. The guy complies, rolls 3d6, and fails the test with a perils. He becomes tremendously whiny the rest of the game in spite of him doing well; his complaint is that I didn't tell him about this ability earlier.

Not my fault.
Unpleasant experience for me, but meh.

Some people may argue that I was also the TFG in this one, but here goes.

There is this one player at the LA bunker who likes to think he is a hardcore competitive gamer, even though he is bad at both list building and playing. He also has a huge ego. Over time I've gotten increasingly pissed watching him bully middle and elementary school aged gamers over their list choices. A few days ago, I get told about how he cheated in a local tournament. Story goes that after getting spanked by Vendettas, he subbed out, mid-tournament, a dreadknight for a storm raven. Versus other Grey Knights. Then convinced his opponent that mind strike missiles effect all models in the unit, not just the leader as per brotherhood of psyker rules. He then proceeds to vaporize a Draigowing list in about three turns using the mindstrike missiles.

Here is where I come in. I see him again at the store, and decide it's long past time for someone to say something. I walk up to him looking really excited and exclaim, "SEAN! Thank you so much! They told me about the tournament, and now when someone asks me about the difference between a competitive player and a WAAC player, I have an example of the other guy!"

He mumbles that he didn't have a choice as other players near by ask him if he understands that I am saying. Later on he was having trouble finding a game (surprise!) and he had a staffer try and find a game for him in my club (somehow he thought we wouldn't know it was with him), I replied that, "We aren't hardcore enough for him. We don't cheat at tourneys and bully little kids over their list choices."

Also, this guy is a grown adult.

I like going to the "other" store about an hour away. I also enjoy accepting challenges.

So I start playing a guy and right away I see how this game is going to go. I use the Hallucination power on one of his units when it goes to my 1st turn. After measuring 12" for a 24" power, I resolve the effects. Before deny the witch is rolled, he checks the range. Clearly, I'm within 24" inches.

Not good enough. He asks me to open the rulebook and show him the power. Well, he's got his own damn rulebook in front of him.

Oh, guess I didn't mention to you guys that I offered to hand him my "40k Psychic Cards" for the spells that my army had access too. He waived them, and was not concerned with what they did at the time.

Until it made a TH/SS terminator squad hit attack itself and kill half its numbers.

So then I had to hear about how terrible the Dark Angels codex is and how Thousand Sons are overpowered and need a nerf.

This guy also made my friend's girlfriend cry during a local tournament because he thought her painting was terrible and would "never get better".

I would rather take shrapnel again than play 40k with him, and others feel the same. I said "you win" and went to go get some dinner after 5 turns of a terrible 3 hour game.

We had a 1k tourney I think it was 2 weeks ago for everyone to learn how to play. Guy brings 2 vindicators a dread with autocannons and some marines to go with it...I mean...it was an absolute WAAC lists for a "learn how to play 6th" event

What exactly does TFG stand for anyway. I gather it's something bad but a definition would be most helpful.

I personally don't see anything wrong with that. If a guy brings a good list to a tournament, why whould anyone else complain provided the guy acted in a sensible and mature manner. If he's smashing someone's face into the table repeatedly (metaphorically of course), but doesn't bring it to light other than to use it as a teaching moment or to report the score, then what's the problem? I should note that to learn 6th, my face was smashed in repeatedly through 5th and on up 2 games into 6th before notching a curly "W" in the books.

It doesn't really look too much like a WAAC list either.

What better way to learn how cover, large blasts, tanks, Instant Death and walkers work in the new edition? Seems fine to me.

There's this one guy I've been seeing at my local store recently.

He plays a 6 flier list at 1850 points for nercons.

I'm told he's a very friendly guy.

Makes sense, he never loses.

I don't see why bringing ANY type of list would be TFG as long as it is NOT illegal, if you don't like his list then don't play him.

@Makutsu: I think you meant to say "...as long as it is NOT illegal." or "...as long as it is legal."

And I agree.

While i might occasionally (and deliberately) go rule nazi and TFG when im mid way through the game and my mate wants to role for his combat drugs (it states i must be done before deployment!) but that's the only irk i have but ill admit it, am i wrong? everything else is fine, this is the only little bit that annoys me x) then we have a fun game again. (i only do it because he's been playing them long enough that he should know better!)

but in all seriousness i have only ever met one TFG, thankfully i wasn't playing him, i wont mention the store location but it was a GW one, and this guy apparently ex staff and event manager for workshop was being rather quite.. what's the word... a donkies ass? well his behaviour was boastful, arrogant, stuck up and rather bossy along with ranting and bragging about the "2 thunderhawks" he has and rather than helping the kids, which he apparently came in to help with there lists and starter games, he was "Telling" them along rather then helping and advising, along with ranting about this that and the other how some armies are **** and arn't worth the plastic there made off etc etc, < compared to my self and my irk about doing combat drugs on turn 3, I'm a freaking saint! I must say i wont go into the store if he's there, and i say this as sincerely as it is possible, I'm not a violent man, but this man has me scrunching my fists and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Poor example of TFG IMO.

This. It's all in the delivery. A list shouldn't make TFG, but the atmosphere he/she creates should. I don't care what list they bring... TFG is TFG!

Hmmm, I've never really had much of an issue with TFG.

The worst I've had was someone came in for a pickup game of fantasy, and was fielding empire. I didn't know that off the start, nor did he know what I was using. Game was 750.

After deployment, he looks at my stuff, then declares what lore of magic he's using (supposed to decide at list creation). He also had luthor huss, and a level 2 wizard w/ gear (this puts him waaaay above the %'s for lords and heroes).

Don't know if it was ignorance or just powergaming. But he lost quite badly. Also, who springs special characters on you like that lol?

I have two

First guy: In a multi-week campaign in 3rd edition I was facing a Tau player with my Necron Army. In order to "win" my objective was to get to the other side of the boad in 6 turns (almost impossible with foot-slogging Necron) He had the first player turn. After shooting three Broadsides and a Hammerhead against my Monolith he Missed with two shots, failed to pen with one, and rolled a stun with the last (monoliths ignored that at the time). On my turn I ended up killing the hammerhead, two broadsides, a devilfish, three crisis suits, and a number of firewarriors. He instantly quits, swears at me and calls all Necron lists cheesey

Guy two: Once again in a multi-week campaign. At the end of the game we both managed to somehow have several units "sitting on the line" to see what table quaters where occupied. Depending on which quarters we declared our units to be contesting it would have been either a draw, his win, or my win. We agreed to a draw, but he then reported it to the league organiser as a win for himself, something I didn't know until the next week.
