Hello Dakkanaughts! I've recently changed alliances as I've decided that i'm going to take the plunge into an army i've always wanted to collect but felt i didn't have the hobby skills to pull off.
I've decided on 1500pts to start out with, here's one of my final edits:
Archon - 115pts.
-Power Lance, Drugs, Shadow Field
9x Harlequins - 224pts.
- 8x Kisses, ShadowSeer
Warriors (10) - 180pts.
-Splinter cannon, Raider w. Night shields, Splinter Racks
Warriors (10 - 180pts.
-Splinter Cannon, Raider w. Night Shields, Splinter Racks
Wytches - 125pts.
-Venom w. Dual SC, Haywire Grenades
Wytches - 125pts.
-Venom w. Dual SC, Haywire Grenades
Reavers (6) - 156pts.
-2x Heat Lances
2x Ravagers - 230pts, (3DLs) + Night Shields
Razorwing w, Flicker Fields and Splinter Cannons, DLs - 165pts.

It looks like a pretty decent list, has a good coverage of anti-tank and anti-infantry, has 4 troops, good number to have for the pts level.
Iv always looked at harlies and thought these are cool, but, how will you make sure they get into combat?
I know in the Eldar faq they got an update to have shrouded and stealth, but I reckon someone will call you on the fact that the same update isnt in the DE faq.

If youre going for a competitve list i highly recommend taking a farseer for fortune. Once the shadowfield breaks, mass volume of shots will destroy the harles. Fortune makes it so you have a 1/36 chance of failing saves and dire avengers arent too bad either.

Yeah looks nice, transport for the harlies could be an issue though.

Apart from that's Craftworld Eldar, and whilst he can take them as allies it's not what the OP is looking for...

Thanks for some feedback. I don't see how dropping in a Farseer would benefit the list overall. In all honesty i felt i needed 1 dedicated close combat unit to clear my deployment/objectives on my table half. I looked at incubi but felt they were excessively expensive for the amount of hurt they bring, while the Harlequins (who will hopefully recieve the same treatment their less than savage clowns deserved) bring a ton of rending attacks with grenades! For roughly the same points. Adding a Farseer... sure i could fortune the squad attach the Archon, but then it becomes more more like a deathstar instead of its intended role of clearing the back field. Transport can be an issue, i could drop out a warrior squad in a building and pop the Harlies in, but assuming we'll have Stealth + Shrouded, it really shouldn't be an issue. @Kitch -- I actually have paid the points for grenades on the wytches, i will edit, thanks for catching that! I'll keep looking into a potential Farseer, mainly for the Runes of warding, but i'm hard pressed for points in this list already. Where do you see the freedom to remove some points to allow for the allies? The list is meant for competitive play, i'm hoping to nail it down, get some sweet conversions and paint job and run the circuit around the Pacific Northwest. Is it not very competitive? How would y'all correct that?

The thing with allies is...
the lists worked by themselves before. theyre designed too.
You can win games with purist lists you dont need normal space elves for Dark eldar to rock...
On the list...

Agreed with Lordjig (who might I add should in my humble opinion provide a much larger copy of his avatar, though that's beside the point...), armies worked well enough without allies, just because you can take them doesn't mean you have to OAR YOO WIL FAYULZ.
If you did want to include them I'd just add them as a 500 point addition, to give you a 2k list. Your DE list looks sweet, one consideration you might want to think of (though it's just a thought) is to fit in some wracks with a liquifier, purely for clearing out dug in squads. Another potential would be a Talos wth TL Liquifier, who can then follow up with beastly cc attacks. To get these guys in though you'd end up dropping (probably) the Reavers and in doing so lose a good chunk of mobility and 2 pretty awesome AT guns.

I also use 6 Reavers with 2 Heatlances, though I split them into 2 squads, having those 2 squads to harrass stuff is good fun and the heatlance makes them somthing you cant ignore.

but in all seriousness, i run a wrack list and they definatly would come in handy for you, but what you have over me is pure manouverability... some toughness/objective holders would be nice... definatly worth thinking about.

Thanks for the positive feedback! So the list looks good for competitive tournament play? And the last 10pts? Maybe a splinter cannon on the Razorwing or grisly trophies on a the Raiders.
Hmm using Eldar to upgrade to 2k. I'd probably seriously look at including the Seer Council on Jetbikes and taking minmum troop requirements. Thoughts there?

My thoughts exactly lol. The Seer Council would help to minimize damage on the Reavers, who I think'd be a good target for a caltrops upgrade or something, get them to pin a big enough squad and have your wyches jump on them to mop up

I second the S. Cannon on the razorwing, great way to add more anti infantary dakka to a flier designed to waste troops. I would keep the darklances though, as your razorwing may be needed to dogfight another flier. The extra shots against teq are nice, but having no anti air can really screw you over.

My one concern is anti-air. In 6th edition, you really need them...
Seeing razorwings are great anti-personnel, perhaps lose the warrior squads for two more wyches in venoms. That should get you enough for almost 1 razorwing. Perhaps a second could be purchased for losing one ravager... That should be 4 dark lances for the loss of 5 between the two raiders and 1 ravager.

You could drop a unit of warriors and a raider for a
Farseer -90
-runes of warding
- cheap power to switch out for divination
Rangers x 5 - 95
With prislience on a Ravager you should be able to hit a flyer and mess it up Automatically Appended Next Post: Also you can drop the razorwing SC and the night shield on raider to make the rangers pathfinders

Here's what horror I had to face a few weeks ago:
Homunculus with flamer of killyoudead.
2 x 3 wracks left in reserve for min troop requirement.
Two units of firstborn with as many blasters and splinter cannons as they can carry in venoms.
Two razorwings with missiles.
Two units of the jump infantry with haywire blaster things.
Farseer with cheap power for divination.
Two units of pathfinders to camp objectives.
I couldn't get near him, his anti-tank is insane, and then comes the anti-infantry once my transports were gone.

Recieved a comment today over at the Dark City that the list was too busy. Not enough focus on shooting and too many things going in different directions. The main comment was that i barely had any Anti - Tank.
I suppose i could swap all splinter cannons for dark lance, drop the wytch and harlequins and bring in lance/blaster born in venoms in their place...
Thoughts?

Alright how about a focused CC army with anti-air.
2 x venoms w 4 trueborn w blasters 336?
3 x venoms w 5 wyches - poisoned blade, haywires.
390
3 x razorwings 435
This gives you a core to work around.
Razorwings - anti-hoard, anti-flyer excellent. Passable AT
Trueborn - Good anti-tank.
Wyches - Good HTH
Venoms - Great anti-personnel.
Now all this costs you a grand total of about 1100 points and allows you to go any direction you want to go.
You have both HQ, 3 Troops, 3 Fast Attack and 1 Elite to go.
So if you want to emphasize melee. Perhaps add the harlequins, an archon with his royal court in a venom and maybe one or 2 more wych squads.

Here's my normal list:
Archon (1)
- shadowfield
- huskblade
- blast pistol
- drugs
4x Incubi (1)
- Venom extra SC + CF
Haemy (2)
- power weapon
- liquifier
4x Wracks (2)...... have swapped these out for 5 Wyches with hydra gauntlets before, leaving the haemy at home
- (maybe a liquifier, can't remember)
-Venom extra SC + CF
10x Warriors
- blaster
- SC
- Raider with splinter racks, FF + NS
Razorwing
- standard load out
What I'm saying here is that this list has bugger all symmetry, but ya know what? I kicked ass with it when I've played it. The last game I had was myself and Tau ally (pre 6th) vs Chaos Marines and Orcs. We kicked ass against the Marines and boys on my side of the table; the Archon and Incubi were a bubble of destruction that cleaved through everything like it was butter, the Wracks / Wyches jumping out of their venom to pile in alongside them after their venoms had chain flailed over the soon-to-be-mush squad.
The key point you should remember is to go for what you like. Your list should be fun and attractive to you. You're going to keep getting stuck down by the next guy that says "this is better", which will always happen on the net, and you'll end up not getting anywhere.
Each of the lists that you've posted are viable, what you need to do is pick the one that seems most attractive to you and go pwn ass with it. Just remember that victory is [edit: NOT!] based 100% on the list taken, but the guy that's controlling it too.

Yes i know the archon is expensive, but is far more survivable than a Haem and what's not to love about a BS 7 blaster? I'm a little nervous not having any dedicated CC elements, it'll be like playing wood elves in 6th edition fantasy!!! I also squeezed every ablative wound and all of the night shield to make enough room for the Void Raven. I guess i could drop the Archon to Haemy with Hexrifle and save 40pts to throw night shields back onto the Raiders + Ravagers. But i'm kinda interested to see how well the Archon does. Plus what would a bunch of warriors be doing wilth those eldar of ill repute
