Hello,
When I was a student in the late 90s, I used to play Warhammer (fantasy battle) and man o war. I was interested in 40k but never actually played it.
Now I recently discovered paper modeling and my son (13) is insterested in 40k as his friends are playing it so I bought him the new 6th ed base set and
I am building vehicles out of paper for him (and for the fun of it).
As I had questions about colors for the vehicles another member of my paper modeling forum (silveroxide who is also a member of this forum) directed me here.
I am attaching some pics of what I have done for now.

Whoa, the paper models look fantastic! Welcome to Dakka!

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

^ Definitely, I actually wouldn't be able to tell if that was paper or actual model kit, such is the fine craftmanship.

Kudos to TerrineCold!

With that said, I shall back away slowly and ominously and disappear in a puff of smoke, then smuggle some fruit across the border in order to stay competitive with the veggie cartel.

thanks for all the compliments. I am working on another stormtalon (blood raven and I will give it a clear cockpit).
Paper vehicles can be made nicer if they are painted in the end but my painting is not so good and I have never done vehicles so I don't paint them, this also give me the time needed to build more and paint miniatures (although right now I am painting a Super Dungeon Explore set and I am letting my son learn to paint his own figs).

not really playing yet but I will play at least with my son once he has painted his mini from the starter box.
Regarding the money saving it depends on the worth one give to his own time as this takes much longer to assemble than a plastic kit and if painted the paint takes as long.
The thing though is I really enjoy building the paper models.

Never thought about it but I'd say no to most fair price. I don't have too much time so for now I build some which we intend to use.
But if I continue building some regularly I'll run out of place so it may change.

looks great. Welcome to Dakka.

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.

Wow, Terrinecold, some really cool stuff there. Welcome to Dakka, btw!

I'm partial to the odd bit of papercraft, now and then, and it is amazing what you can do with a bit of card, scissors and glue.
