First complete shot I'm happy with. This thing is the devil itself to photograph. Scored silver at GDUK2012, beaten by the Sword Winner. More photos will be added to this thread as I get decent ones.

That's simply amazing winderdyne. Tiny details abound yet the overall impact and magnitude of the piece is simply stunning. I know you're disappointed in not getting the gold... but really... %99.99 percent of people who've ever played 40k can only look on that with awe, knowing we could never approach anything like it.

@Gitsplitta; No, I'm stoked to get a demon at all. Before the event I predicted a Silver at best, more likely bronze, if the competition wasn't too fierce. It was pretty fierce, Mario Delgardo (another Platoon Britannica regular) had a lovely piece built into a picture frame; we were trying to defer to each other behind the stage until the actual order was sorted; it was all really friendly and fun. As for the winner; I can't state enough how sharp and just plain perfect the banner on it was (to the point of me not even looking at the poor vamp's face); two very different styles of model; mine with action overload and the winner with far far superior technical work; different styles; different feels. I really like diorama as a category, short of open it's an excuse to go nuts on something.

If that only got the silver then I daren't wonder what got the gold. Superb work!

Oh man, I was about to say, what could possibly have beaten that diorama of yours to get the Sword?! Then I remembered that vampire, that was definitely a great piece of work, but yours is so awesome to look at. It was really great to see the work in progress. Congrats on getting the silver though!

That is awesome, how long did it take to complete the diorama?

It's a slightly modified Legio Astraman (Morning Stars) scheme, with black/grey and pale grey striping rather than blue and white. Total time is somewhere between 400 and 450 hours over 4 months, not including the several months it took to get a fully workable kit.

For me the entry that won gold should have been in WHFB Monster as it wasn't really a diorama despite how amazing it was, though it was slayer sword material without doubt.

Winterdyne your diorama is so full of character and all the small details just make it, like the fire from the flamer and water from the water bottle. Really well done, and congrats on the silver GD. Just awesome. Consider loads of ideas stolen!

I agree that that dragon was not a good diorama. What story was it telling? Awesomely painted monster/rider, yes, diorama, not so much.
