Hello everyone,

I am assembling my mantic KoW models and decided to magnetize them to the trays as well as pin my metal arms to the goblins. That means an insane number of holes to drill and so I have started to search for a better way to do this. An electric drill seems to be the way and the Tamiya one seems to fit the bill the problem is that the only UK importer does not seem to list it. Does anyone knows of a place in Europe that sells it? I am trying to avoid having to import it from Hong Kong or the US.

You know - they do sell the equivalent in hardware stores across the world.

I use one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Drill-Chuck-Shank-Micro/dp/B0037X6NBM

in one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-PS21-2A-12-Volt-Pocket-Driver/dp/B003BEE12U

I had the Bosch before hand and found the adapter later on. Chances are good that you won't be needing to drive big screws though...so you can get away with a cheaper cordless driver and it will work just as well for drilling holes for miniatures.

I have that drill - it's great for drilling holes in plastic (where its slow speed is an advantage), but it's only powered by a couple of batteries and so is too lightweight for anything else. i wouldn't use it for drilling metal at all.

As Sean says, mains-powered mini drills are cheap and common at your local hardware store.

Thanks for the suggestion I will take a look at other solutions as it seems that the Tamiya is not a good option either. The model you mentioned it is not available on the UK either and the dremel that everyone recommends is not available either so I guess I will just have to take a risk and buy a small cordless a driver.

I got mine at Aldi's a few months back.
It's rechargable, variable speed & has a little led light too!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

My Tamiya drill works on metal just fine. If it slows down then just pop some new batteries in it.

Best tool I've bought for this hobby after my xacto knife.

Unfortunately not. I actually checked with the importer and according to them it is not available in Europe at all. No idea why

I'm a bit confused, why couldn't you just buy it from the site linked in the second post?

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

the store itself if located in Hong Kong. They do ship to the UK though, so I don't see any problem outside shipping costs perhaps.

Likely the CE crapola.

There are a lot of manufacturers who don't bother with the Eurozone anymore with electronic devices as a result of the regulations which are in place (likely why you can't find the Bosch Driver I linked to in the UK even though it is made by a German company...). I know when we looked into it a few years ago - it wasn't worth our while...so we just wrote off the whole continent as a place to do business.

It is more a gamble thing than shipping costs. Getting it to pass the customs might be no problem at all or a very painful experience. If they decided to pick your parcel and see its contents you might have to pay for their work (and it is not cheap) or actually have the product refused for not meeting the regulations of the EU

I am actually getting tempted by a Bosch PSR 7 2LI Screwdriver. Does anyone has experience with one of this and how easy it is to convert it for use as a drill?
