If you do change your mind about the Harpy, here's a recipe (just theoretical, never tried it):
Tyrannofex tail/pelvis, Trygon torso and head, Hive Tyrant wings, weapons made by combining Carnifex twin-linked Deathspitters with Heavy Venom Cannon or Stranglethorn Cannon barrels. For Cluster Spines, try studding the underbelly with Flesh Hooks. For the Spore Mines, you could magnetize removable Spore Mines on the underbelly, so as to indicate when they have been dropped.
Squigsquasher, resident ban magnet, White Knight, and general fethwit.

Since, you know, you sculpt better than I do and I have so much ungodly and obscure general WFB and 40k fluff knowledge that store staff ban me from quizzes after answering 4 questions correctly before they even asked the whole question. Mind you I did walk away from that quiz with quite a fair bit of shinies!

Vik, A dakka-fex (for me anyways) Is a carnifex armed with two twin linked devourers with brainleech worms and bio plasma. which gives out 12 S6 shots that cause moral checks at minus one, plus a small blast template that is S7 Ap2. bloody lethal imo, as you whittle the enemy down with the 12 shots at 18" then when you get to 12" you can unleash the Bioplasma attack to make sure you kill even more before charging into combat to smush the enemy lols.

Lols which Codex do you have? I have 3rd, 4th, 5th editions. Still need to get the old 2nd Ed one at some point to make my collection of nid Codices complete.
Thanks spartan, I think painting will be about 6 weeks off now, as I still need to buy bases, 30 more gaunts and another tervigon for the first 500pts.

Wooot, Dakka-Fex is finished... well finished from converting... painting will have to wait.
So here's a list of what I've done to the thing:
Added another layer of carapace to the back section.
Added a massive tail weapon for defence.
Extended the neck out due to the carapace extension.
Blinded the head.
Swapped the mini arms the Devourers had for a set that used to belong to some Scything talons.
Rotated the curve in the tail section to add a sense of movement.
