I'm going to have to try mixing some gloss varnish and white paint and airbrush it on to see what happens.

I'm mainly interested in the PHR but if I were doing scourge i think a black and yellow/orange wasp like look.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

almost certainly going to have to pick up a scourge force, even though certain aspects of them really don't appeal to me (Really don't like the Marauder, and seeing as dropships are a big part of the game that may be an issue, and lopsided turrets irk me)

definitely like the look of the beveled bases better than the clear perspex ones

Seriously reassessing my opinion of the Scourge now. These alternate schemes make them look way cooler / more intimidating! DT, I would follow such a blog intently, here or on your site. Even if you do it here it will drive traffic to your site as you get exposure through it (see Warmill's efforts). Really hope you will blog it, wherever you choose to

No, your spelling is fine. However your malapropism checker is malfunctioning.

OT: I'm liking the Scourge more and more, esp. with those ones on the WM bases that have a lot of organic "goo" coming off the dropships.

I just want to weep. For the first time in a long, long time, I have seen a game that really impresses me. This is that game. Normally, I'm the kind of cynic who wouldn't take the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow for fear of being taxed, but this is good stuff. Great looking models and hopefully the rules will match.

Anyone want to biy 25 yeats of 40k collection? This just looks like the game epic was and should have remained.....

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

And yet more awesomeness for DZC

Now it's time for special infantry.

Praetorians,UCM special forces, what you want when you need to clean buildings.
According to Dave, garrisoned troops are a huge pain to dislodge, especially if they're hiding far inside the structure rather than shooting from the windows... although you can always level the building!

I predict the PHR Syrens, Shaltari Firstborns and those worms they scourge have, next. All of them spotted in the OP's BoW video.

I guess its fine for 10mm, but the Praetorians are the first model that doesn't impress imo. But I havent been too interested in the UCM thankfully.

They have some great models, but Im personally not a fan of the faction as a whole.

The guns look a little wonky, kind of like a mix between a 40k Plasma gun and a somewhat futuristic take on the f2000

They actually remind me of the P90, with a horizontal magazine atop the weapon.

The paintjob is just not up to scratch on those guys, makes em seem gakky compared to the rest of the range.

They are designed for a 10mm game Have you seen how small Flames of War infantry is?

Yes they do look a little gakky, but I'm willing to give them some leeway based on the size of the model... Lord knows I couldn't paint that detail lol...

Oh i know lol! Its just the other infantry sculpts look far better painted.

These are the first DZC models ive thought dont look particularly good, something about the head looks weird.

Still, not criticising the game.

It's probably the fact that the details are all in the night vision goggle, leaving the face rather lacking in the details department, but then again, I wouldn't want to be the one to sculpt a nose and mouth on something that small.

Haha true true, the goggles are definitely cool.

Im really torn now after seeing the alternate scourge schemes, i may have to get a force for each faction

"Praetorians" - odd name for commandos.
They have the same proportion issues some of the other infantry have. Still, I think they will look fine at 10MM. Remember you're seeing them magnified something like 5X.

I think you're right that the paintjob isn't flattering on those guys, Vitruvian, but as pointed out they're really small. Infantry in this game won't push me either way, since you'll barely be able to make 'em out but definitely looking forward to the "razor worm" infantry for the Scourge!

I know a few times I've cursed the heavens while reading a rulebook.

Probably not what he means though...

Edit: To add my own two cents on the subject, I'm definitely interested in the PHR and maybe the Shatari.

Would it be bad if I painted the PHR to match my Tau?

Not a fan of the new infantry, they just aren't up to the same standard as the tanks etc. its a shame really :(

The infantry look uniformly awful to me, but I don't really care.

I imagine that hand-sculpted 10mm infantry is just something that is and will always be impossible to do justice to.

Does anybody know of any 10mm miniatures systems that actually have what could be called "great" / "gorgeous" / "realistic" / etc. infantry sculpts?

It's 10 mm scale, it's always going to look dodgy when blown up to that sort of size. I'm sure they will look awesome on the tabletop beside the larger models. You will barely be able to see them at tabletop range anyway.
