Some of the post here talk like making a "WAR" on obesity is the way to go when in reality your proposing that we should make laws on eating food what people want! Also the outdated system of how they measure people with obesity is hilarious just watch penn and tellers BS on it and you will be enlightened.
Main point is this is america we should have as many freedoms as we want the only rules that are forefathers said was.
Do whatever you want to your body just make sure you endanger no one else when you do it (like i think drugs should be legal not only because are prisons are overpopulated with people who smoke pot. But because who cares as long as me and my family are in no danger from drunk or drugged people behind the wheel of a car)
The thing i will say is I think its wrong for corporation to sell substance that have addicting properties like some fast food restaurants have.
Parents allowing (more like forcing) their children into obesity should be held accountable for some degree of child abuse.
Actually three things, soda is disgusting, how do you drink it?
Open the can, or bottle, and pour it into your mouth; then swallow.
Also, to aid in flavor and digestion, one could also add Rum, or Whiskey to taste (most people only put about 1 oz. in theirs, but sometimes I get more of a rum/whiskey and coke, as opposed to a coke with rum/whiskey )
Pretty sure I have eggs for breakfast at least 5 days a week.
Depending on the month, you may die of cholesterol or something
It is one of the things that always cracks me up about how these "researchers" are always switching up whether eggs are good or bad for you.
Yeah, I mentioned that earlier when we were still going "BUT ALL THE INFO YOU NEED TO EAT HEALTHY IS ON GOOGLE!". But I love eggs, so to paraphrase Ivan Drago "If [they kill me]. they [kill me]".
Besides, I'm pretty sure the recent findings are "they're low calorie, the fat keeps you full, and dietary cholesterol has little to no impact on blood cholesterol". Lots of diets now push eggs over things like rice cakes (which used to be a staple diet-food) because they're lower calorie and reduce the desire to eat, rather than being low calorie and leaving you hungry in an hour.

Guidance on the NHS website regarding eggs is that saturated fats are the main cause of high cholesterol. So eggs are fine

I agree with trex; soda is gross. It's good for degreasing a grill or flat top and that's about it. And that should tell you how fit it really is for human consumption.
And adding soda to your rum or whiskey means one of two things: 1. You're drinking gakky whiskey or rum, or 2. You're ruining good whiskey or rum.
Whiskey is that stuff I drink a lot of really quickly to get drunk faster right?

I've been looking for quinoa recipes, so I'm open to anything you have.
The one I'm the biggest fan of is:
1 cup quinoa
1 cup orzo
Both cooked independtly, obviously.
Caesar dressing (preferably homemade)
tomatoes, onions, parmesan cheese, and olives all finely diced (save for the cheese, that should be grated or shredded); to taste.
One of the other things I do is make quinoa and use that as a bed for packaged (or ordered) chicken tikka masala. It also goes well in, or under, chili; but if its in the chili it needs to be added late in the cooking process.
Basically any time you can use rice or small pasta, you can sub in quinoa; just get creative.

Or switch over to diet soda.
I'm not a dietician and all I have is my own anecdotal experience. I've lost about 40 pounds, and a lot of it came from just cutting out soda, as well as moderate exercise and just watching my diet.
I have found that when I tried having diet soda instead of water, that my weight loss almost completely stopped. When I went back to water only again, weight loss resumed.
I have no explanation for this; but I have found that diet soda did not help me personally with losing weight nearly at all. I mean, I guess I didn't gain any, but it didn't help lose it the way a zero calorie beverage should.
Just my 2 cents.

I've only read one article on the subject... so Im no expert.... But, the one article I read on the Diet Soda issue basically said that the zero calorie sugars in diet soda are actually harder for your body to process than with regular soda, which is why it's actually even more unhealthy than regular soda... Basically, because it's harder to process, it takes longer and all that excess sugar floating around in your system that much longer has shown (according to the one article) an increased risk for diabetes over people who drank regular soda.
By 'soda' I assume you all mean pop and not soda water. Get yer terms right.
I cut most pop out of my diet a few years ago, but a good root beer or ginger ale/beer - always my favorites - hits the spot now and again. And for some reason when I go to McDonalds to splurge on some fries a coke is an essential part of the experience.

You'd be wrong if you lived in St. Louis...
I'll second Ouze's anecdote. If you drink soda at all, stay away from the diet kind.
In addition, after drinking soda, try to drink a glass of water shortly after in 1:1 ratio at least. (that's what my urologist recommends)

Does that mean you have to say Coke-Coke if you want a Coke?
Diet Coke-Coke? Coke Zero-Coke?

Besides how unhealthy soda is in terms of nutritional value... because of caffiene, it's a diuretic. Meaning, you'll dehydrate faster. Thus, drinking at least as much water as your drank in soda helps counter that a bit. I got the feeling that he wanted me to drink more than 1:1, but that's not quite easy to do at times.
When I recovered after donating a kidney, I maintained numerous followup appointments with my urologist to monitor my overall kidney functions. One of the thing I've told him is that I'm a recovering Soda-holic.
