Always nice when the model you don't expect comes through. Looking pretty good, and basic troops still looking basic isn't a terrible thing!

I love that! A friend and I are gonna start a kill-team league once we can game again and that's a great way of adding a little personality to make your guys "your guys."

Thanks Vejut! Both times it was really fun, because my friends couldn't really believe it, as I needed a 5+ to hit, a 5+ to wound and than a 4+ to kill

Most of the times I can't even tell you who won one week after the game, but stuff like that sticks in my memory and is one of the reason why I love this hobby.

Go for it, it's very easy to add little detail and have the story of your guys evolve.

inmygravenimage wrote:Those are lovely, neat paintjobs. Really crisp cloth.

Thanks Graven! I'm not on the same side with you on crisp, but was and am still happy with their paintjob

And the assault marines are done, had to buy the jump packs, but the rest comes from deathwatch, primaris and mk 3 kits. I hope the primaris assault guys will also get jump packs with the full kit, so I can use these as acount as. For now they will assist my jump captain (picture not included) as his personal bodyguard.
Quite happy with those guys, experimented a little with their skin tones. And these will be the last models with Coelia Greenshade armour. It's too tiresome and I will switch to Terradon Torquoise and have ordered Akhelian Green, the Space Marine Heroes termies will get a light blue armour. Contrast is just better for this stuff.

I know what you mean. I personally like the assault intercessor model but they need both extra mobility and access to special weapons. I'm not super happy with the jump packs on the Suppressors and similar, the classic jumppack design is so much better.

Assault marines are looking really cool (I also dig the helmets, thanks for pointing that out youwashock), and the different skin tones each look naturalistic. I really hear you on Contrast being great for this sort of armor work - I've really been impressed with how Contrast paints, in conjunction with traditional paints and washes, can help save a lot of time in basecoating while still producing a high quality results.

Viterbi,

I agree with youwashock, some very nice work. Although my personal preference would have been to use helmets.

My two cents,

Thanks youwashock! They are very fitting heads for a jumppack strike force, although I may paint the teeth in to get a little more contrast.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! The squad was a good excuse to test some skin colors, I'm most happy with the marine in the middle, I'd have thought doing black skin and black hair that don't look the same and flat would be impossible, but with the aid of contrast is super easy.
I actually like both jump packs, the old ones are more brutal, but I have the surpressors and start painting inceptors now and I like the more rounded approach, it fits the primaris line.

Thanks Captain Brown! I'm usually with you and may give only the sarge and maybe one other squad member bare heads, but with this squad I wanted to convey the elite nature of them.

amazingturtles wrote:i like 'em! and the eyes worked out really well. I don't know why, but the shoulder pad with the... bumps? is one of my favorites.

Thanks amazingturtles! I believe those were the first shoulder pads on the Rogue Trader era Space Marines, they definitely have a lot of character. Also giving every bump a bright pink spot was not a nice task, I'm not one for precision in painting

gobert wrote:Looking good Viterbi! The dark green armour looks great, I hope your switch to contrast works out

Thanks gobert! Luckily with the sisters I already have proof of concept for green armour and already tested Akhelian Green (see picture).

Maharg wrote:Nice marines, look like they mean business. I like the dark green on the armour, hope the contrast works out as well

Thanks Maharg! They'll probably die instantly once we play 40k the next time, but yeah, they'll look menacing doing so

Very slow progress, but close to finishing the last four bolter sisters for the 10 woman squad. Also started work on my three entries for the painting challenge and tried Akhelian Green on the first marine and I'm loving it! The blue marines will be getting silver trims and aquilas. Now it's even harder to wait assembling the space marine heroes terminators, because they will be getting that armour color too and they will look gorgeous in it

Blue with silver? My imperial handbook says your traitorous hydra worshipping killers . But you can’t be all that bad if you got sisters of battle on your side . I like the blue on the NuMarine.

Thanks Theo! Well they are the Emperor's Fangs a loyal Alpha Legion successor chapter... or so they say It surely helps that they have close ties to an Inquisitor and she is coming from a knight house, so they are safe for now I haven't given too much thought on their backstory, but they have a little sinister element what with all their hydra logos on their shoulder pads.

amazingturtles wrote:Yeah, those are very nifty looking greens. I'm liking the navigator so far too!

Thanks amazingturtles! I will be glad once he's done, one of the four Blackstone Fortress minis left.

Powered through last evening and finished the four bolter girls and so have finished the full squad of sisters. And the squat is also taking shape, thanks foremost by the mighty powers of contrast who did some heavy lifting. No to finish the normal basecoats and start with some cleanup.

Thanks youwashock! The purple/pink and grenn/blue are my imperial colors to try and tie everything together. And need a little sisters break now, but they are very nice models and it'll be fun building the army up from the ground and the Seraphim from the army box are next in line once I finished the painting comp entries and the three inceptors.

And because when you're working from home and the wife has to go to the office this week and the kids are in kindergarten, you can use your lunch break very effectively, the squat is done

Thanks JoshInJapan! Yeah, that Blood for the Blood God goes everywhere. Once I hadn't realized that I had a significant amount on my fingers and when I saw it later, I thought I had cut myself... until I thought a little more and could solve the mystery of the blood drops

Thanks gobert! And actually that Squat is one of the few models with a real gun barrel (because it is actually modeled on, otherwise you would have been right )

And I finished the second of the Imperial trio, the navigator is done (although looking at the big pictures, he may need some little touchups, I despise photos of minis).

Very snazzy, especially his word cloak (that's my new name for the middle bit)

It's a rule of miniature photography that no matter how much work you do, the photo will always reveal something wrong somewhere. I think that the camera itself creates them
