Not sure if goes there, or in general discussion...
Consider all below for WSIWYG games.
So I have Chaos lord with a cool whip modeled. It represented Blissgiver (slaanesh demon weapon in 5ed CSM codex).
Now I look at 6ed CSM codex, and there is not just no Blissgiver, but no whip-like weapon whatsowever.
So how would the model count in WSIWYG? does it makes it illega under WSIWYG
Am I effectively forced to remodel it?

I think it would either be a generic daemon weapon or a unusual power weapon. Or a counts-as Lucius, I guess.

Sadly there ain't no "generic" demon weapon either. And lucius is power armoured, while my lord is terminator.

And now it's just a power weapon(probably sword counts-as). Though I suppose you might be able to get away with it as a lightning claw counts-as.

Considering it is like nothing that actually DOES exist ATM, I suppose you can get away with having it as "count-as" or "alternate modeling" of anything that resembles the same logic (melee weapon, and whatever it looks like)

After all, nobody can accidently think it is a whip when there is no whip.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

I would say it would be a Sword. Whips are a cutting impliment.

Could easily be a maul too.
It can definitely trip up an enemy and when swung well hits very hard.

I see the OP's problem because competitive gamers (or just That Guy) might try to call him out for having an imprecise representation of the model's weapon. The same way people are suggesting it could be a Sword, Daemon Weapon, Lightningclaw or Maul. If he felt dickish he could suggest it was one thing in Game A and another in Game B. And that isn't kosher. Not saying he would. . .

Just saying I see his problem.

But I'd say as long as you play it consistently and your guys at the FLGS aren't total douchenuggets, you should be fine. Call it whatever weapon you want and stick to that unless you choose to remodel.

Incorrect, whips are actually very flaccid lances.

I don't see this being an issue.

No one can really say anything to a CSM player with a fully painted force when they have reasonable "counts-as" weapons on a Chaos Lord.

If they do, they're probably the kind of player who has cardboard cut out Necron flyers.

Well if they weren't so dang expensive...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Ya that sucks. I would let you call it a deamon weapons personally but you may always end up facing that guy.

Some whips break the sound barrier when they "crack". Clearly a sonic weapon

I'm not buying the limp lance argument.

I suppose it nothing else, it can just be a CCW. Lords come with power weapons standard though, right? So then couldn't it just be a power-weapon?

Unless it's on fire, shooting lightning out of the tip! In which case, I might call it a daemon weapon.

Just remodel and avoid this sort of debates. I personally had to remodel a tons of Tyranid carnifxes when the douchebag the wrote the new codex decided carnifexes would no longer wield 2 heavy guns....my poor sniper fexes

This is a part of the hobby. That's why magnets work wonders.

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts

OP is probably like me and would run this through his mind EVERY time he saw the model. I had this syndrome with my Crysis suits, they just look so damn cool with a bunch of weapons on them. I eventually cracked after explaining it for the hundredth time and broke the crap off and wsiwig it

Use magnets that way they can have all the guns on while you display them.

I'd be fine with the whip counting as pretty much anything as long as it's written in your army list. If it's not, there's an obvious trick you could pull where you say it counts as one thing against one guy and a different thing against another.

Generic demon weapon sounds best, since it's the closest to what it did last ed.

As long as you're clear with your opponent in each game, count it as anything you like.
