I'm going to be building an Iron Warriors force, and I could use some help for conversion ideas. I want to include plenty of bionics, wiring, mechanical modifications, etc to the army. I would love to hear your tips and tricks as well as suggestions for where to find ready made bionic parts.

Gw is releasing a pack of Iron Warrior bits that could be useful http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440160a&prodId=prod1710134a and probably take some Necron spines and metal body parts to add some extra feel to your guys

The GW Iron Warriors pack, obviously, useful. As mentioned the Necron Spines, also try the Iron Hands upgrade pack. Bionic Upgrade parts such as headdomes with wires, bionic limbs and eyes, etc. FW. Might do something as well but I'm not so sure

I'm in the planning stages of an IW Daemon Prince (New entry = win), using some IG bits, and hopefully I'll be able to double it as a hellbrute. I can post pics when it's done if you're interested

As others have already suggested, the Iron Hands upgrade sprue is awesome for Iron Warriors. Mixing in older marks of power armor (with no Imperial markings of course) looks nice as well.

There are plenty of third party companies that offer bionic parts as well so that is something to consider too.

There are also a couple of thrid party comapnies that do bionics including legs, arms, head and weapons.

try MaxMini

or you can buy a techmarine model and spread theservo arms across several models. There are quite a few Iron Warriorr model pics int he Gallery, and a lot fo the IW players on here have galleries in their sigs - browse away!

Grab some Spartans from the Halo Actionclix line off ebay for cheap. The legs & arms make great bionics. Additionally, you can outfit a squad with at least 1 bionic limb for each member from a pair of generic Spartans. I like to also mod power fists by replacing 2-3 of the fingers with a weapon so it looks like the entire forearm & hand have been replaced with a plasma gun or flamer, etc & this also allows easy magnetizing for being able to swap the loadout on your chosen.

With the helbrute model out this is actually an easier option now as well.

I've been so busy I forgot to check back in. I appreciate the input. The necron bits idea is outstanding. Definitely gonna use that.

Check out Maxmini's bionics, as well as Bitspudlo's bionic terminator kit. Also Anvil Industries makes PA and TA sized bionics.

I discovered (accidentally, like) that Crisis suit elbow joints make rather nifty bionic shoulders for terminators. Also if you cut slots in the shoulder pad, you can show off the mechanical gubbins more easily

Go to your fantasy range chaos knights, nab their full-metal helmets, and grab some guitar wire. Use the guitar wire to add the cables running from the mouth to the back of the helm, and there you go.

You could also use certain helmets from the brettonian knights. Just remove all of the dandifying elements from the top of the helm, and use that for your helmets.

Adding the archaic component to the head goes a long way to making your army look like iron warriors. For my army, I gave all of the important or "veteran" characters chainmail. Something a little extra to make them pop.

Another thing to do is to raid your champion sprue. Take a look at Mr. 3-eyes, and remove all of the nurgley growths. There's a couple of decent "iron" pattern helmets there too that are worth recovering by removing the excessive pointies from the top of the helm.

Another method of getting nifty helms is going through your khorne berzerkers, and lopping off their rabbit ears.

I've used necrons and spare parts for my bionics. Buy a box of praetorians and there's enough parts to do your entire army.

Maybe when I stop being lazy, I will post my finished army in the dakka gallery, as it is though, you can find WIPs of my army in my gallery.

Some "loyalist" models dont need much converting at all.

These are my Warpsmiths/Lords/Masters of the Forge models.

The one in the middle is just a normal techmarine with a different paint job and, i think, came out quite Iron Warriors-y

The one on the right has just been stripped. The plan is use the tentacles from a 45mm "Doc Ock" model as Mechatendrils for a warpsmith conversion - i'm just not sure if i prefer the "helmets techmarine" or the "bare head" techmarine model for the Warpsmith.

The shoulder pads are nice. The heads look like the belong more on cultists or IG sized model than SM.
