I have several DE reavers and im allied with the Eldar. I plan to use reavers but I dont know if there is a use for the guardians on jetbike.

I was wondering what is the big difference between reavers and guardians on jetbike? I am new to this game and I see the stats in the codex and noticed the points are the same per unit (22 cost), the guardians stats are exactly the same as Defender guardian squad and those guys are supposedly useless.

I have been reading that guardians on jetbike are pros at anti-hordes especially with warlocks im sure thats because of the shuriken cannons and the warlock. Reavers have better stats and the same or better weaponry from what I see, is there a point or advantage in making guardians on jetbikes at all?

Thanks

Well when you're playing as pure Eldar with no allies, they're good for the extra mobility, better save, and of course the shuriken cannon upgrade. When compared to reavers I think they're pretty much outclassed except for the fact that the cannon can take down light armour.

Main differences I see are:

Guardian Bikes:
-Are troops
-3+ sv
-Shuriken cannons are good for anti infantry or very light vehicles

Reavers:
- More attacks and better WS/BS
- Combat drugs
- Better at anti-tank (blaster, heatlance)
- Damage when they turbo over units

Overall I think you get a better deal with reavers, but both units have their uses.

Yeah them being troops are nice though and everyone says defender guardians are useless but people speak highly of guardian jetbikes.

Would it be pointless to field both classes at the same time? From your comments it looks like Guardians maybe better at anti-infantry and if not then maybe they are point less. well maybe not useless because the troop option is really nice.

I plan to field scourge also.

DE have enough anti infantry unless your trying to stay away from it specifically. I'd say take the reavers beacause they could be used for something else

Yeah I agree with bob, if your doing a Eldar/DE force, then DE have plenty of anti-infantry on their basic troops.

My favourite role for reavers in the 3 man suicide squads with a heatlance. They are enough of a threat to draw fire from other units and if they are actually ignored then they can be a real pain by getting rear armour shots.
They are also cheap enough that you dont need to worry much if they die.

I'm currently building a Jetbioe army. That will have 18 reavers 12 guardian jetbikes and a jet seer council. It seems to be doing pretty well in testing it is awesome at late game claiming/contesting. So they can both be used.

Okay, im thinking the only reason for guardian jetbikes is to fill in the troop spot. Correct me if im wrong but it seems as though this is from worst to best, Guardian defenders<Dire Avengers;<Jet bikes.
If this is true then I should probably just use jetbikes and rangers to fill in the troop requirement which is 2 when I allie my armies.>

Biggest draw to guardian jetbikes, they are Troop choice so you could keep them in reserve and bring them on to contest. The three plus save is the best you're going to find as the highest reavers can have is 4 plus after turbo boost, I'd say that you can field both

Reavers actually get a 3+ cover from turbo because of skilled rider.

Problem is as soon as you slow down to shoot you lose your save, guardian jetbikes dont suffer from this.

Skilled rider gets you to 5+ normally. Jink gives a 5+ cover save, turbo boost a 4+...I didn't think it added all together

Under jink it says if you turbo you get a 4+ save, skilled rider states you get +1 to your jink save.

Its not really stacking as such just the jink save is different if your turbo boosting.
