This is a bit of a crystal ball thread for you gents to make your predictions.

For myself, I think Mexico is going to be huge along with the Middle East.
Mexico is getting worse, and it's right on our border with more and more cartel activity spilling across and deep into this country.
I say the Middle East because that place has been messed up for a few thousand years and we have too much at stake there now.

It's Abortion. It's been abortion since Roe v. Wade, and it will be abortion until either a) someone comes up with a way to bring an embryo to term in an aritificial environment, or b) the pro-lifers wise up and realize that Republican politicians have been riding the issue for all it's worth... without ever once doing anything about it at the national level.

Most of the big issues haven't changed much in the past couple of decades. As far as prognostication goes..

If Mexico or Hurricanes get significantly and consistently worse and more damaging to us over the next four years, I could see border security or the environment become bigger issues. Imagine if we were to get hit with something like Sandy again, that far up the Eastern (or Western, for that matter) seaboard, next year? Between Irene last year, Sandy this year, and if we had something big next year, maybe we'd start seeing climate change get a little more traction in this country. Hard to imagine, though.

The summary for how the Republicans have operated since Reagan seems to be, "We want to be the party for big business, looking after large corporations and giving tax breaks to the rich right? But, if we just do that, no-one will vote for us? OK, let's just oppose the Democrats on arms control and abortions."

Mexico/The Cartels/The War on Drugs, Technically also a domestic issue, this one will be a priority even over the Middle East if Iran manages to keep their collective panties untwisted. It's not too far from the truth to call what's going on on the southern border an invasion and I don't mean by a bunch of guys named Juan who just want a job. The Cartels are ONLY going to get more violent and more aggressive.

Election season 2016 will be all about whoever has been shown as willing to sincerely work across the aisle and move past gridlocking the system along party lines. (read: the "hard men" of the GOP vanish from the national stage)

I've posted the video in a few other threads, so I won't post it here as well, but this video will give Christie the 2016 GOP nomination.

There is a very intelligent "college crowd" right now, who are generally considered apathetic at the voting stations. But sooner or later, they are going to figure out that it was the GOP that gridlocked the federal government for the last 2 years. They will want to find and punish those responsible, and when those college kids figure it out, there will be Hell to pay for the GOP for years to come. The stalwart "defenders of the faith" in the Republican party will be ousted internally once the GOP realizes that those candidates are virtually unelectable in the eyes of the younger crowd, as the voting numbers of the conservative elderly succumb to time.

I'm pretty sure that Google has been paying something like 3% tax. I know in the UK the 60 richest billionaires had the combined effective tax rate of less than 1% - I can't imagine it will be different in the US.
