working on an apocalypse force, and am going to be bringing my necrons to the party. i was wondering if necrons actually use titan class or titan style weapons platforms. i couldnt really find anything either way honestly.
i realize its apoc, and pretty much anything goes, but what kind of any titan would a necron force bring? pylons are a nice idea, but im not a big fan of them really. so any ideas?

Right now I think their choices are limited to Pylons (think really BFGs) and the Tomb Stalker, or at least those are the Apocalypse sized models available from FW.

You must build additional pylons! Got that out of my system.
But yeah, Necrons get little love from FW. You could always make your own. Lots of concepts to work off of. Though making rules for it is tricky since the Titan rules are already pretty nuts and anyone trying to bring something close will probably get told its OP.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

i would probally just "count as" a phantom or revenant...
but what im wondering, is more towards the fluff end of things. yea i know they like to use pylons and whatnot, (and i have 3) but those are more defensive structures, then actual assault forces. i was looking more for something they would teleport, or drop in, and just have it scour the battlefield with crazy gauss blasts or something. how do the necrons, in general deal with an apocalypse size invasion as the aggressors? i realize they will attempt sanctions and negotiations to other tricks, but when push comes to fight, and the defenders are well entrenched, what do they do?
im also wondering if they ever employ aircraft bigger then the scythe platform. i know the BFG fluff has multiple class of spacecraft so that could lend one to believe they may also have various styles and forms of attack flier. although probally the same general you shaped hull design.

In terms of gameplay they lack real dedicated titan-class stuff. In fluff they have Megaliths, who knows maybe FW will come out with one someday....

When I was looking into this thing, what turned up for me in the department of assault units, was the apoc formations. I can't remember what it is called, but there is one that involves a Destroyer Lord and several units of wraiths that can be quite brutal. It increases their invuln save to a 2+ among a few other things. There is also the resurrection warcell if you have the models, allowing you to flood the field. The Monolith formation is fairly strong as well, especially with the new teleportation rules for the monolith portal, could easily deliver a strong host of your Dynasty anywhere on the map to right into those titan's faces, then just let gauss weapons do their thing. Also the Apocalypse Monolith, whose name is escaping me at the moment, works decently well from what I recall (Though that was back in fifth for me, not sure how it holds up now).
So, bring a few pylons to sit in the back, monolith formation, and rush your undying forces into the enemies face. That would be my guess as to how they would handle an apocalypse size battle as the offensive side. Given their mastery of teleportation, makes sense to me.

The next FW book is all about necrons, but the concept book they had was filled with scythe varrientes (there was deffinatly a bomber) and more canoptek stuff.
It was a shame to not see any titans but they will be getting more apoc units, which is always nice.

Also, IIRC the Tomb Stalkers from FW are waaaaay smaller than they are in the fluff, at least in some cases.
Maybe it's just a baby Stalker, but I remember reading something that there are huge Tomb Stalkers that are more than capable of taking down up to Warlord class Titans. There might be something in the new FW book, though.

Well, in the old fluff (not sure if its obsolete) the necrons did have quite the array of war machines and other death dealing devices. There was the abattoir (giant floating temple thing. Had a bunch of tentacles that are used to harvest souls, and it could spawn waves of scarabs.) http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Abattoir#.UJ0vOIbXt60 There was the obelisk (Basically a mini monolith. Why it didn't show up in the codex, I dunno) http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Obelisk#.UJ0u7obXt60 And there was the Aeonic orb (Basically a heavy anti-tank platform) http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/%C3%86onic_orb#.UJ0uu4bXt60 I think there are some epic rules for these, but not 40k rules. Oh, and the megalith. That's a new thing, though there are currently no rules for it, and it just exists in fluff. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Megalith#.UJ0vVobXt60 And of course, there is the pylon. But everyone already knows about that. I believe one of the apoc books have rules for something called a doomsday monolith.

I would also suggest that Necrons would work pretty well with a Revenant or other Eldar titans, as it fits their style.
It would also present an amazing conversion oppurtunity. If you could sculpt or convert the front of the head to resemble a necron head, and paint them approrpiately in metallic colours you end up with a massive necron looking robot, which is entirely plausable in a fluff sense.
Otherwise, yeah, grab yourself 4 monolyths, glue em together with the GW bastion on the top, possibly some sort of green crystal on to of that, and you got a megalyth. Possibly run him as an abbatoir.

They've got something called the Pylon, which is an absurdly large Strength D gun that startlingly enough can target flyers. It's stationary, but it provides some defensive bonuses to Warriors nearby, making it actually a really, really good defensive cornerstone.
Also keep in mind the Necrons' best Apocalypse formation, the Monolith Phalanx. 2-5 Monoliths that project a no-psychic Reanimation Proctocols-on-4+ zone between them is pretty damn good.

Isn't it 3 monoliths to form the no-psy/ bonus RP zone?
