Hey everyone,

I haven't seen any Corsair army in action around town and I would like to know a little more about the pros and cons of running corsair vs running craftworld eldar army.

Anyone could give me a quick topo to help me define if I wanna go that way or wait for the new Eldar codex before pumping more money in the army.

Thanks in advance

Go for craft world. A lot easier because corsair is a fake army which isn't sold by GW. Craftworld Eldar are easy to play and there is no point starting a corsair army. I would wait for the new stuff and save up your money for about a year.

Forge World is a subsidiary of Games Workshop, and saying that Forge World models and lists are "fake" is like saying that Citadel Miniatures (which, btw, consist of ALL models sold by GW) are fake. Obvious troll is obvious.

As for the advantages and disadvantages of Corsairs vs Craftworld Eldar, I can't really say because I don't have access to the Eldar Codex or for the copy of IA with Corsairs in it. I do know that Eldar are one of the weakest codices currently available, largely due to outdated costs on almost everything and the fact that changes between 4th and 6th mean that their 'hard counter' units are no longer true hard counters.

Additionally, if you want to start collecting Eldar, it is better off to start now than it is to wait. Remember that the rumors about their update are just that, and I know I guy who put off starting a Tau army because they 'were just about to get an update' in... I think its been since 2010 now. In all likelihood Eldar are at least a year away from a new codex, so if you want to start them, I would start by picking up a small force to use as allies using models that are unlikely to be updated (Vehicles, Dire Avengers, Special Characters and some HQ choices), and then building from there depending on how much you like them.

Fake army...lols.

I think the Corsair army is a pretty good list, takes elements from both DE and codex eldar, you can even take some units from both codex's as part of the list (thats without having to use the allies system). Can also take shadow spectres which are rather cool.

Basically I see the list as either going smaller squads taking dedicated Venoms or larger squads with jetpacks and heavy weapons.

Wasp assault walkers are also troops for the army which is a bonus.

Downsides are the troops are still eldar, yes they shoot better than guardians but they are only t3 with a 5+ save so will die easy. They also basically have lasguns that are assault 2 rather than rapidfire.

At least with jetpacks you can JSJ.
