That is the hope! Here's what I've come up with for the first build using just one city block and addons in a 2x2ft space. There are a few bits and bobs left but this is most of it. I'll probably have to tear this down to build what I want for the 4x4 but we'll see. Eager to do more but I'd like to paint some minis soon too.
More photos when I get a chance.

Very Post-Apocalyptic, so many possibilities with that scape.

Thanks guys. Not much visible progress. I got another block punched out and the items assembled, pretty much just have one more to do and some miscellaneous add-ons. I think I may have overestimated how much coverage I would get out of my add-ons (some of them, for instance, add content to the inside of a building, but no new walls for a separate building itself) so I may wind up having to do something like a small park or an empty lot or two. Basically I have three of what I've already shown and then enough bits guaranteed for at least a couple of reasonable sized buildings on the fourth piece, but most of my extra addons are misc scatter and 'enhancers' that make specific interiors for existing buildings like the police station and diner. May get a third building out of the bits that come with the fire station though.
And honestly an empty lot, demolished building or park in the middle of the board could be pretty nice anyway. We'll see, I'm slowly but surely grinding through it all.
Got to play X-wing today, took a wonky Scum build but Kavil saved the day while the rest of them got shot and died (they got in some hits too though). Yay Kavil. Favorite pilot/ship/build in X-wing even if I'm sure there are better builds of other ships.
Gonna try to either put together a Deadzone Demo Kit or get Imperial Assault organized to take to the library next time, what do you guys think?

Yeah DZ2.0. The thing only happens once a month and i don't always get to show up every month so for the sake of actually getting progress/repeat play it would probably be best to stick with one.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Although IA is more fun with 2-4 people besides me with four being best, even with a fifth helping me run empire. Deadzone is best for two people with me helping on rules, unless I wanted to drag out twice the terrain. Both fit into one of those Plano 4 pistol/XL Accessory cases and carrying two of those and my 7th edition whfb messenger bag thing isn't too bad I guess. Would have to familiarize with double the rules but that may be doable.
Deadzone has 3 factions and most of the required scenery painted, though I'd like to do the forge father team and paint the resin item crates.
Imperial assault is long done but I do have s handful of figures I could do for completeness, and I would like to come up with some kind of dashboard setup for the players like you get with Zombicide.
Hmm.
In other news I'm running out of sheets of card to punch so I'll be doing a 4x4 bate systems city soon.

Archer, I'm jealous of my hobby space, one of my favorite things about our house. Will probably lose some as the kids get bigger but I can survive some pruning.
Azazel simply put, Yes. The police building and hotel I plan to build will probably want to stay how they are but even those are readily able to be switched.
If I ever find the right situation I want to do a 2'x8' chase/flee zombies variant.

I'm gonna try a 2x4' version first as I can do that and have a more involved set-up while I slowly make the tiles for my bigger buildings.
Got 20 mars attacks dudes on clear acrylics. As 'finishing' models counts for Azazel's tale of gamers challenge, I plan to use those guys as either the first or both the first and second months' entries.
Third thought. D&D kind of on the brain. For scenery to make memorable battles... Do you guys think flat tiles like out of dungeon saga, 2.5D like on youtube, or some kind of fully 3D like it's underground warhammer scenery but done in such a way (that I would have to figure out) that players could actually sit and still see the action?
Think that's it... Actually...
How is the Age of Sigmar base game? Like if I just bought that game and never got any more models, would there be enough replay value? Rules solid? Forces balanced? I'd fail and get some of the shinies eventually but initially I'd be inclined towards the box if it were fun and balanced in and of itself.

Depends if you like the Stormcast Eternals & Bloodbound really. Though I have to say, the Lord-Celestant on his Dracoth mount is an awesome model, as is Khorgos Khul with his flesh pooch Grizzlemaw.
All of the models from WHFB have their own datasheet with exception to some of the named characters- they use whichever rules would be appropriate for their model. For instance, Vlad Von Carstein would use the rules for a Vampire Lord.
Bases and ranking up in regiments don't matter at all. You just have them in unit coherency like you would in 40K. General's Handbook is ideal if you'd prefer to play with points. There's a pretty substantial amount of battle scenarios available on the app or in the books (whichever you prefer).
GW have also started with their Start Collecting! range as well and there's some pretty nice deals in there too. Each of them gives you a fairly decent size skirmish force to get going with.
The app is free and available on iOS or android.

IIRC the Stormcast are about 100-150 pts better off than the Khorne models in the set if you go the points route.
I think it is quite fun in of itself, a year after release and I have only recently painted all of the contents. There is enough narrative scope for replayability and you could always add bits in from your extensive collection.
Thanks guys, figured I could count on you Having been out of WHFB since an edition or two before AoS was even a thing, I pretty much just rolled my eyes and moved on. But some of you have done some really neat stuff with them and seeing all the cool bits in the shop the other day piqued my interest. I mean obviously the guy with the wings floating on the ribbons or whatever and Archaeon and that elf/nature queen and the glotkin are all the heavy hitter cool models, but even the basic AoS stuff is pretty neat. And the pricepoint is good for the volume of minis etc.
Partly my interest is there because sometimes GW stuff can be had for fair prices on Amazon where I get some bonus points, and also because such a box is pretty simple and easy just in case anyone needed gift ideas
But I guess you give me more questions... so the rules and unit stats are available online? There's a book that has points now? That sounds useful. I have seen what look like army books, are those still necessary or can you get it online/the app/whatever?
Start Collecting! boxes are also usually a pretty good deal so I may have to investigate those as well.
Good to know it can play on its own. I guess the chaos forces could always borrow my dungeon saga demons if they needed a touch of backup

You don't need the army books, no. ALL of the models' datasheets are free to download from the app. They do have battle-pack bundles on there if you just want the formations/battle plans from armybooks/campaign books without having to fork out for the full books.
If you're into the fluff of AoS then you might appreciate the army books. They're not a must-buy-to-play purchase as they were/are in WHFB/40K.
Personally, I like having all my rules stuff digital, as it reduces clutter.

That's pretty spiffy, I appreciate that business model. Kind of more relaxed, buy our models and play the game for free and we hope (read that: pretty much count on because you'll get hooooked) you buy the fluff books. Infinity kinda works the same way really.

Yes, I'm fairly certain that GW has been taken over by Tzeentch. CEO Kevin Rountree is giving GW quite the overhaul lately. Chunky White Dwarf mags with free minis, free YouTube vids on how to paint your plastic crack. Social media interaction and the lot!

Yup, anything you need is available for free. That said the General's Handbook is great and a fair retail price. It was contributed to by a number of online (podcasts, websites etc) Gamers as well as GW staff. Therein are a few types of way to play (open, matched and narrative) as well as points and campaign and tournament systems. I also really like the Grand Alliance Death/Order/Chaos/Destruction books. Basically a collection of every warscroll available, it also serves as a handy catalogue of the range. Death and destruction are $16.50 each whilst the other two are 30 bucks odd.
There is a lot to like with GW's current direction. Time will tell.
I think 2.5D for dungeons and dragons is the way to go. Especially if you are planning on using any of the larger minis. Players can still interact but the extra bits allows them to suspend disbelief that little bit more.

You're probably not wrong, though it's harder to get excited for 2.5D. something about carving caverns out of 3-4" of foam...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh my, the way that dmscotty does dnd2.5 next is just about what I want. Does modular walls that go on mats. Hmmm. Still would like height but I like how it works.

He started out with cardboard tiles with 1 inch walls (just the illusion of 3d walls so you know your boundaries) and full height doors and gubbins. Then the Next stuff is different, it's custom floor mats and modular walls. Finally, the tilescapes is kind of like a more modular version of the first thing, more modular, and without walls except where necessary. Torn between the 2.5D Next style and the tilescapes style, or something a bit more wargamey and less next generation papercraft.
Basically would take design inspiration, I don't like white glue and cardboard as much as some folks.
