A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Just got an email from the Forum of Doom and it appears that Heresy have more financial difficulties. A real shame as they make some really nice models of which I have quite a few... Tried to check out the link to the Forum of Doom post but it's not responding, same with the Heresy Miniatures website. :(

Here's the email in full...

Well, since things are going very badly financially speaking, I have resorted to finally putting some of my unused-and-never-will-be-used GW Forge World stuff on eBay. This stuff has been sitting in the boxes since I got it back in 1999 when I painted a load of stuff for Forge World (It amuses me no end that for the last 13 years the standard template for painting a Drop Pod has seemingly been based on my design, and that my Ultramarines Land Raider was scanned into the Dawn Of War computer game for one of the animation cut-scenes - no credit given, natch...)

The collection includes a complete set of 40k Road Sets - the main Road Set, and the Bombed Road and Strafed Road sets, which as I understand it are very rare indeed on Ebay and thus very collectible - and very heavy, do the postage costs are a a bit scary for Overseas, I'm afraid, but we'll see what we can do about that after the auction is over (possibly splitting them into two smaller packages may bring the costs down a little)

The auctions are live now! I need you all to do me a big favour - If you're on any 40k or Warhammer forums and think you might know someone who'd be interested please start a thread and point them in the direction of

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Heresy-Miniatures-Ltd

10% of the proceeds are going to the charity Children In Need, the remainder less fees is going to Andy In Need! (Boiler repairs, Salute fees, car repairs etc etc etc, not to mention the costs for the Forum of Doom itself! Help me keep this place up by getting your chums to buy that thing they always never knew they wanted!)

Really hope Andy raises a load of cash from these sales, shame though that it's got to this level for him...

I just heard about this. Shame, I have tried to get on his shop site ( I need some heresy goodness).

Once its back up i'll place an order.

Shame for Andy as he always seems to struggle, it's part of being a one man outfit I guess.

C'mon guys! that defence line he has up on eBay should be well worth it, no dead cadians in sight!

Hmm, I know he had some difficulties late last year - early this, and there was a sale of Heresy stuff - not sure though if it was Andy personally or the business?. Can't be easy either way for Andy and good luck to him. I always wondered if he shouldn't go in with someone like Hasslefree or Black Scorpion to make the business more cost effective? BTW, have updated the thread title with a question mark as I have no inside knowledge of Andy or Heresey Miniatures finances and don't want to be making a false statement here...

Heresy Miniatures is a fantastic little outfit. I've ordered from them on a number of occasions and I suggest everyone else should as well!

The best way to help Heresy or its owner's personal finances is to order lots of figures from them.

They do a load of nice generic SF and "not" Dr Who and the like.

Get in there!

Agreed!

Let's mobilize the community and order up as much as possible from him, as soon as possible.

There's something for everyone in his online store!

RT @ukhost4u: @Heresy_Andy No power outage, uplink fault. Could be physical cable fault or problem with the transit provider. Still awaiting more info.[/qoute]

So hopefully nothing serious affecting the business - phew. Agreed though, let's get the troops together and give Andy a busy Christmas with lots of trips to the Post Office

Edit - updating the thread title again (!)

I buy quite a bit of Heresy stuff, I even bought a set of troopers I didn't want or need because Andy was having trouble, but unfortunately the main Heresy stuff I buy is now OOP (Netheraxe mould wore out, giant floaty flies disappeared) I think I'll have to wait for the plastics to be done before I buy anything else.

Such is the tragedy of Heresy, brilliant models but you rarely need more than a handful

I think that sums up the problem I've had with it as well, got a fair few of the dr who figures to make christmas gift dioramas for the family as they're all fans but I haven't really been back.

The figures are all really nice though, and he does seem like a hell of a chap will have to see if I can get an order together.

Agreed- just do NOT get in line for the dragon.

It's been years and he's made 51. It'll be years more till what was already paid for is delivered. He's hoping Ed at TFM can squeeze in a few parts for him.

So, anything but the dragon, I'd support. That model, don't touch with a 10 foot pole. I've been critical of his handling of that (spending the dragon money on other things) but obviously don't want him to go under. And the trenchcoat gangers are full of character (literally years ago, I swapped my dragon pre-order for some- a much better call than I realized at the time).

There is such a lot of competition in the overall SF 28mm genre nowadays.

Infinity, Studio McVey, Antenociti's Workshop, Hasslefree, Pig Iron, Heresy, Crooked Dice... and I am sure there are others I have failed to mention.

Does anyone know how popular SF role-playing (pen and paper style) is nowadays? I haven't played any for 20 years.

Just put an order in for the Predator model, and some of the sci-fi security guards (with a little droid thing). The latter will be perfect civvies for Infinity, the former because I've always wanted the mini but never got round to ordering it (although, thinking now it might be possible to make a cool Infinity scenario!)

This Zombie-halfling is absolutely inspired..

Same Ed who has two kickstarters and Defiance stuff to work on apart from Troll Forged stuff being 3 years on the shelf undone?

Kroot- Heresy has around 200 dragons, each paid for at 100 pounds apiece, overdue by Years. I agree Ed is a long shot, but worth asking at this point (as he has already) as his new spincasting method is Amazing.

The rest of Andy's range is characterful and people should Definitely support him if they can!

I've liked the idea of those not-Delaques for months. Since I first saw them.

Unfortunately, Kickstarters have been taking a lot of priority away from stuff that's out there now as far as moneys go, and an expensive but very cool-looking gang for a game I haven't played for years is low on the totem pole, though it's on the list and I do intend to buy them at some stage.

Not very. There's the 40k RPGs, Eclipse Phase and maybe a handful of other recent releases, but the major sci-fi games of the 90s are all gone. No more Traveller, Cyberpunk, etc.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Thanks to the power of Kickstarter Shadowrun is on the rise again. Who knows if we see more like it in the future...

Much as I want to hope I think all the 'redeux' RPGs on KS are just selling to nostalgic folk like me (who probably still have their original copies anyway)
