Hey everyone. A friend and coworker of mine picked up this awesome model for his army and has given me the opportunity to paint it!

Here are some progress shots of where I am so far.

Thank you for the compliments! Yes, I'm using an airbrush. I'll be getting in there with a paintbrush for all the little bits.

Huh. I'm not a fan of all those faces melded into the skin. Really let's the miniature down. However, what's let down is brought up by your painting! I can't wait to see the finished product!

hah thanks! Yea, on the privateer press board there is a thread where people are all showing off their Mountain Kings. A lot of them actually filed off those little imps.

I think he's ready to have the skin masked off and have the rock work started.

Looking great. Many painters don't do enough with the recesses on this big guy and he comes out looking a little flat, but you have avoided that pitfall with style. He'll be really striking once the other details are in place to give more definition to the fig and will really make the work you've done on the skin stand out and shine.

Thank you! I'm nervous about masking his skin all up to do the rocks! Recently I finished the Khador Colossal for one of my other friends. It was the biggest model I've painted.

It wasn't so bad since it's a machine and has a lot of metal. With the Mountain King being more organic, I was nervous about how the flesh would come out vs what I was imagining in my head. I found minijunkie.com and really liked his version of the Mountain King. I also was greatly inspired by Schnauzerface's version as well!

Thank you! I should be able to get started with it this weekend! He needs a lot of putty work. I am/was torn with how much of him to assemble at first. I think I might have to put him all together even though I was hoping to avoid it. He's got way too many seems that would drive me crazy to have to fill/touch up after painting the whole thing. Gonna be tricky to paint imo.
