This may already have been done, yet I still wanted to ask the question. Personally, my favourite style is Mk 2. But what's yours?

Mk IV 'Imperial Maximus' has always been my favourite.

Link to various armour marks if anyone needs it.

VII and VIII seem to be the most efficient designs.

I started playing right around the time the MK VII armor models were introduced as the new hotness, and I've always thought it was the best looking. But VIII is so much more practical, which appeals to me. No exposed cabling, the neck guard, etc.

If I was a power armored super human, that's what I'd want to be wearing.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I am a fan of the Maximus armor, particularly the look of the helm. Though if you use Anvil Industries you can get a god idea of what a squad of MK1 armor would look like, and it's actually much more impressive than the single example GW made.

Mark II has always been a favorite of mine. I just love the look of the single eye lens. It also looks to have more weight to it.

Though it should be mentioned that Forgeworld broke the fluff a bit for MKII, because it didn't used to have a moveable helm. It was clamped down, and the head moved freely inside.

I'm a fan of the streamlined Mk 7 from the Space Marine Vidya Gaem. It's not quite as ludicrously bulky as the official art makes it, and it looks like something you could actually move in.

Think of something clever to say.

Probably because the proportions of the character models are more correct, lol.

I always liked the fact that space marines were big, super-human tanks. In the Dawn of War 1 and 2 video game trailers, I think they portrayed that feeling very well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0m28yz6kmg

To be fair GW broke it first - the original MkII mini was looking left over his shoulder.

MKIV because it looks more like "Space Soldier Armor" and less like it's trying to look angry/fierce. Just seems like the realistic variant.

MKIII is awesome too; love the up-armored torso idea for boarding marines.

I thought the only mini that had this armor variant with a helm was the one below in the 'Armor through the ages" set of armors 1-5, of which the MKII has the helmet bolted down and looking forward?

The only other one I can think of is the old 2e Long Fang Sergeant, who's helm is removed (and so is no help in the matter).

I am hugely fond of this concept art of a suit of Mk VIII 'Errant' Armor, but most of the other depictions seem to just show a Mk VII suit with a collar.

Honorable mention to the Mk VI 'Beakie'. Gotta respect the classics.

Most of the marines in that set are from the 2nd edition release, only the MkI is from the original RT batch:

I have 1850 points of Ultramarines, every single one of them wearing an MK8 armor (and to hell with background in this case).

So, yeah.

Believe me, I know! I have most of them from back then, including a Space marine with a autogun, and one with a shuriken catapult!

I'm fairly fond of the Mk.VIII helmets, the older stuff looks unpolished and chunky to me.
