I inherited this nice Seiko from my father, and I've been wearing it every day for about a year now. I didn't really like wearing watches before I got it, but now I find myself looking for new stuff to buy, mostly things in the 2000$ up price range...

I'm interested to know what kind of chrome dakka wears on it's wrist. Please share

Haven't got a photo of it right now but I am wearing an Omega from the '60s that belonged to my grandad. He bought a his and hers set when the family lived in South Africa. Worth about £1600 apparently. Its kinetic and it keeps lousy time.

Only if James Bond constantly finds himself being five minutes late because his watch loses time.

Why do you think M is always so scowly.
Or why he's the last 00 to show up in Dr. No?

I have a fossil watch I picked up in the Bahamas. I don't really wear it all that much, because the leather strap bugs the crap out of my wrist.

I'm still looking for a timekeeper that is as sleek as my phone, but without being such a faux pas to pull my phone out during business or fancy things.

I used to wear watches, but that's what smartphones are for now. If I want to show some cool watches I pull out the ones I bought when I lived in Volgograd Russia. Not expensive mind you but I think they are pretty cool. They always start great conversations. My buddy who wears some pretty expensive watches is always amazed that my watches are better conversation bait then his, which is just great at client meetings.

I was recently given my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather's pocketwatch from the Rockford Watch Co, circa 1870. Doesn't run since my grandfather dropped it a few years back, but I'm looking toward getting it repaired.

This isn't exactly it, but it looks almost identical.

I wear a Fossil watch i got for my birthday last year. Its a nice piece. Don't think it was to pricey (certainly hope it wasn't). Not $2000 at any rate.

As to both Andrew and Daedalus, im rather jealous. I really want to start rocking a Fog watch but i know if i do i'll just look like a tosser. I don't have anywhere near the right amount of class to pull off one of them.

Heh, I'm not sure I have the class to pull it off either. They're one of those things like trenchcoats that requires a very specific look to not just look silly.

Also, I've heard good things about Fossil. One of my good friends received a Fossil kinetic as inheritance from his father. Certainly not a $2000 watch, but in the range of hundreds, at least.

My other timepiece is a Tourneau I got for my five-year anniversary at work. It's probably only worth about $50 or so, but as my Armitron finally gave up the ghost just recently, it was a nice replacement. Swiss movement, at least.

Yeah the Fossil watches normally set you back a couple of hundread. I think my sisters one set her back about $450 and i think mine was around the $200 mark. Good watches though. Would definately recommend them.

And yet, at some point in the not so distant past, fedoras, trenches and pocket watches were "required" wearing for any man who wanted to work, or had a job. (See, Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, and archival footage/pictures of Al Capone)

Ugh. Fedoras are the worst. The only people I ever see wearing them are greasy, anti-social types who somehow think pairing formal headwear with Halo t-shirts and grimy jeans looks cool. The people who could actually pull them off tend to stray away from fedoras because they've been appropriated by the pimply D&D hermit sub-culture.

Strange how things like that can happen. The leap from one extreme to the other.

I used to wear flat caps. I look good in flat caps. People tell me im the spitting image of my Grandad when i wear a flat cap. I don't wear my flat cap anymore becuase some hidious little cretin told me i had "swag".

I haven't worn my beloved flat cap in 6 months.

I have a weird claustrophobic like reaction to rings, ever since I got a plastic washer stuck on my finger as a kid. My finger swelled up around it and I ended up having to go to the hospital.

Suffice it to say that if I ever had a wedding band that I couldn’t get off my finger I would freak out.

Also I've never been one for wearing watches, though I do like the look of old time pieces. Especially when you can pop them open and see all the little do-dads and inner workings.

I have a couple of full watch boxes.
Depending on the mood of the day and what I'm doing I wear:
One of two Citizen Skyhawks,
A Seiko Sportura Chrono,
A Citizen Aqualand,
One of my three G-Shocks,
Tag Heuer F1,
Tissot PRC200
Traser H3,
Rotary half hunter Pocket Watch.

On the shopping list I have an Omega Speedmaster. I've nearly bought one three times now, maybe next time...

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

I've actually had better luck pulling off the fedora than the trench.

A nice black suit or even just a black dress shirt paired with a black pinstripe fedora goes a long way toward pulling it off.

Jeans are optional, but I'll even wear jeans with a sport coat if I'm feeling trashy hipster enough.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

All that stuff is nice little features stuff, bits of flair that draw your attention to, hopefully, an otherwise good looking, stylish man. The issue is if you're not a stylish, good looking fellow in general, then the hat/fog watch/coat isn't going to change that, and the whole look is just going to be silly.

Oh, I'm not Mr. Style, but a great conversation starter is a blessing in business. I can't tell you how many times a business dinner with a tough client turned into a conversation about me doing a foreign exchange program in Russia, and what a blast that was. The trick is to let them ask about it and not be obvious when you check the time.

I did however back in the day rock a trechcoat, fedora, suit, braces and even spat shoes to work, but that was only to Swing Dancing nights back in the 90s when I was an instructor at a nightclub. I never dressed like that for proper business.

I switch between extremes of very sophisticated and classy, and very grungy and obtuse. I think it's a talent.

Regardless of what I'm wearing, a good watch looks good with anything. A good watch will look good no matter what attitude you have as well.

My dad found my Mask Crusaders watch I used to wear as a kid.

Wound it up and it still works fine.

I used to wear a watch all the time, but stopped as it got broke so got used to not wearing one. My lovely girlfriend bought me one for one crimbo and got angry as I never wore it, so I started again. This one has ran out of battery and now I don't wear one.

I like to wear a watch, but I also like to not wear a watch.
