Subject: Privateer Press: New Faction for Warmahordes on the horizon?
On the back of No Quarter #46 is a new Cipher. It appears to have recently been cracked on the PP forums.
It reads:
"Iterative successes converge toward our inevitable victory"
PP Is streaming their Keynote at Templecon on Feb 1st. Where they will reveal the big thing(s) for that year. Last year it was tied to what was on the back of NQ (Colossals). So far it is just pure speculation.
There is a new league called "Machinations" as mentioned in this PP Insider where the author writes:
"What’s Machinations you ask? That’s the question everyone will be asking. Machinations is this year’s organized play league, which is divided into four, four-week seasons. Someone, or something, is threatening western Immoren and it’s up to you to discover what that is. This league will have many features you’d expect, such as custom scenarios, models, and rules, but there’s so much more. One of the coolest features of Machinations is the online vault."
I'm going with the flow on the PP forums and saying a new faction is on the way. Cult of Cyriss [/pure, mad speculation]
Here's a little bit of Cyriss fluff:
yriss, Maiden of Gears, Mistress of Numbers, also known as the Clockwork Goddess, is a fairly recent addition to the land's pantheon. Her worship became known only a few centuries ago, at about the time Men and dwarves began to build sophisticated machines and delve into new kinds of math and philosophy. Cyriss is largely unconcerned with the fate of individuals. Most of her effort is spent writing and overseeing the natural laws that govern the realm of science and engineering, though she will take action directly or through her followers when something threatens the natural order of things. She appears as a humanoid, but she is not a human goddess; her worshippers are largely human but also include a number of dwarves and even some gobbers and members of other races inclined toward engineering.
Understanding the mind of Cyriss and revealing the true nature of the multiverse is a process of divine revelation to her worshippers. For this reason engineers and scholars often pay Cyriss their respects, but true fanatics and clerics are hard to find with the culture of Men and dwarves so dominated by their traditional religions. However, with the spread of science and mechanika across the land, Cyriss may soon begin to increase the size of her flock.
Many of the most devout followers of Cyriss believe that machines are holy, and those who build and tend them are society's superior caste. Some even believe that in mathematics there may be found some superior method for managing the world's affairs – a place for everyone, and everyone in their place, with some kind of divine calculating machine overseeing everything with cold precision. Cyriss' evil worshippers are taking steps to build such a machine, but luckily they are few in number and thought to be far from their goal.
Cyriss and Infernals and Thamarites have been on the horizon for so long. Who knows.
Cyriss would make the most sense though, and have the most gameplay differences. Rumor had it a while back though, that they'd make a 3rd spinoff game like Hordes. Only about cults and shadowy groups, which would then be compatible with WM/H.
Factions like Cyriss, Infernals, Thamarites and something else. Orgoth worshippers?

Cygnar is "We have the best technology"
Retribution is "We have the strangest technology"
Cyriss worshipers as a faction would wind up kind encroaching on both. Heck Cyriss technology is already in Cygnar - the squire.
Also they're just so disparate and small to be a real faction.
I like the rumors that it might be Infernals or Zu residents better.
I don't know. If they already have tech out there that other factions are using, I could see Cyriss having access to them since they essentially designed it. That would give them some already existing models to choose from.
I'm back!

A new faction should have distinct identity from all the others. It should stand out as unique in terms aesthetics, game play, and theme.

As long as the faction isn't solely comprised of already existing models, then I am fine.
Heck, it could be a new Contract for Mercs.

Psh, thats no rumor, thats an idea i posted on the privateer forums years and years ago when warmachine hordes were still young and new to the world. The idea was a force lead by a warpriest that used a faith mechanic. Faith was automatically generated by the warpriest in a limited quantity similar to focus, with cult units generating additional faith points similar to fury. The faith points were used to keep warspirits (infernals) materialized on the board, requiring over a certain number of faith points per turn in order to remain stable. If it dropped below the faith level then instability would set in, and you would need to make threshold checks otherwise the spirit would start withering (taking damage, losing abilities, etc.). It was supposed to be a fusion of fury and focus.
My other idea was that warmahordes is a setting built around nations, not faiths, so the entire third game could mercenary/minion faction for inclusion with the other games so long as animosity didn't prevent it. You could add warpriests, spirits, and cult units to existing forces in addition to your caster/lock to add a spiritual dimension so long as there was no animosity involved. Of course this was during mk 1 when casters/locks had a point cost...

"Our" (as the hint says) or "they" (as you say) must refer to the mysterious reveal, right?
I'm confused
Mysterious reveal, right! I am assuming it is a group since they used the term "our". But I was referring to whom ever they are that referred to themselves in the possive pronoun "our".
I am not sure what the software is either but I am leaning towards warjack programming.
I'm back!

Perhaps it's Rhul, with some backing from Cyriss making them a complete faction?
I imagine a new mechanic, the wind up. You have to have models base to base with friendly machines to wind up the clockworks so they can move. But wait! Wind them up too much and they can break down or go haywire, too little and they'll be ineffectual!

At this point I would be happy if some of the core stuff was available in plastic Cygnar Trenchers, Cryx thralls, etc. Just the core stuff you need a ton of. Some of the larger kits could probably benefit from plastic too, just the price reduction...
Looking for the Empire spearmen from the Warhammer sixth edition box set (empire vs orcs) Must be unpainted and in good condition. Also looking for MIB Empire State Troops boxes.
Looking for Battle for Macragge and Black Reach Tactical squads, unpainted and unassembled.

Essentially, if it's considered bad by a faction and we get access to it, we Merc players end up loving it.

Cyriss seems an odd choice to me. I can't imagine the clockwork army being a bestial Hordes army, so Cyriss would make for six Warmachine factions vs four Hordes.

Is this real? It seems really cool if it is, especially because by this time, the game probably looks even better. Weird though how they used the OG xbox "Live" logo at the end if it's for 360.
