Hey!

I've just started collecting Dark Eldar and I've basically been buying the models I've liked and got to about 1500 pts,
I've put together a list to get to my target of 2000pts and was hoping for some advice on whether or not it's any good!

HQ

Archon
agoniser
phantasm grenade launcher
shadow field
135 points

Succubus
agoniser
Haywire grenades
90 points

Elites

Inubi (9 to acompany Archon)
Raider
Flickerfields
268 points

Troops

Kabalite warriors (10)
Sybarite
Blaster
Dark lance
140 points

Kabalite warriors (10)
Sybarite
Splinter cannon
Shredder
Raider
Flickerfield
115 points

Wyches (9 to accompany succubus)
Hekatrix
Agoniser
Hydra gauntlets
Razor flails
Raider
Flickerfields
220

Fast Attack

Hellions (10)
helliarch
Phantasm grenade launcher
190

Reavers (6)
Arena champion
Heat lance (x2)
Grav talon
Cluster caltrops
196 points

Reavers (3)
Arena champion
Blaster
Cluster caltrops
111 points

Heavy support

Razorwing jetfighter
Splinter cannon
Flickerfields
Night shields
175 points

Ravager
Night shields
115 points

Ravager
Night shields
115 points

This comes to 1870 points, I'd like to round it off at 2000 with some more elites but I'm not sure which are the most effective,
I like the aesthetics of the mandrakes but they really don't seem too useful, so I'm a bit stuck! Any and all help is very much welcome!
Out of this list the only models I don't yet own are the 2 ravagers and 2 of the 3 raiders, so a lot of this list I would like to use,
however I don't mind relegating some units if they're really really useless :p
Thanks guys!

The Twilight Zone

I like the con build, but if you are running him with incubi I would take combat drugs. On the off chance you get FNP you are giving FNP to 10 expensive models. Pass 1 FNP save, it paid for itself. Not to mention the chance of getting furious charge. Worst case scenario you roll a one, but 2-5 means better con in combat.

I dont see the point to a succbus. You are at a large enough point level that you could take another budget 'con with a shadow field and venom blade for 5 points more. Or a hamey to give the wytches FNP, or the duke to benefit your kabbies and all of the wytches you have.

Not a huge fan of blasters on foot kabbie squads. I see the merits of the LD9 squad with a dark lance hidden somewhere, but if the blaster comes into range, then your either screwed or a splinter rifle can handle the work. Unless you plan on seeing deep striking termi''s, drop the blaster.

The kabbies in the raider don't need the syrabite. If the raider dies, so will 4-5 kabbies. At which point the squad is pretty useless, so spending extra points to keep them around only matters for keeping a scoring unit on the table. Not a terrible idea, but something to kill 10 points, not an auto include. Drop the shredder, and give the raider splinter racks. Let the kabbies do what they do best!

Flickerfields are only good on the fliers, everything else should just take night shields. Consider aethersails for assault raiders(your incubi and wytches)

Wytches need haywire grenades. They really took a hit in assault power in 6th, so I would run them without special weapons. You can only take 1 anyways, as you only have 9 bodies. A PGL will help you make it to combat, so better to buy one of these than hydra gauntlets.

The grav talon on reavers is pretty awful, cluster caltrops have their merits. Heat lances are better than blasters in most situations, but each have their merits. Reavers are really good in 6th.

Hellions are crap unless you are taking baron sathynax to make them troops, and have them in a large blob. I would drop these for more troops.

Ravagers look good. The razorwing is a bit point heavy-you will really only shoot the splinter cannon once you have run out of missiles, so it is a bit of a waste. A dark lance is better if you are shooting at something with 2+ saves. Night shields are not bad, but most things that can shoot fliers have long range or are incredibly mobile(like other fliers) so I don't think they will serve you all that well. Flickerfield is great for dark eldar fliers.

Avoid mandrakes like the plague, they are absolute garbage. Maybe get a squad of blaster trueborn in a venom as a second elite choice. Wracks work great as both elites and troops(access venoms and raiders, liquifier guns, decent assault units that can survive a round of bolter fire)

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Id agree with most of this, its pretty solid advice.

As for rounding up to 2k pts I would probably look at making the 3 reaver squad into another 6, drop the succubus and take the baron and add more hellions to the unit, 15-20 for the unit size is good.

Im all for cluster caltrops on reaver squads.

Generally I play with 3x6 man units of reavers using 2 cluster caltrops per squad. Use these guys to turbo boost turn one and do some damage, they distract the enemy units and can take alot of fire off your other units so they can close the gap. The main ways the reavers will die when they do a slash attack on turn one is either flamers or assault, otherwise their 3+ cover save will keep them mostly alive.

Thanks for the reply, the Combat drugs will definitely be going onto the list, thats a potentially massive bonus which I'm pretty sure I'm going to need!
The only reason for the succubus is I wanted her to fit into the wyches squad a bit more naturally than an archon but she might get shelved for the 2000 point until I've got enough for apocalypse :p I'm not a big fan of the hamey, don't like the looks of the models tbh.
Blaster will be dropped from the foot squad then, and good trade on the raider kabbie squad, makes a lot more sense now i think about it :p

wyches were meant to have haywires, forgot to note that down and I'll swap in the PGL for the hydra's.

with the reavers i was hoping for the smaller one to go (hopefully) pretty much unnoticed compared with the bigger squad so i could do a bit of tank hunting, just ideas, never played with this army so I have a lot to learn!

I love the look of the razorwing (plus I've already bought one) so I'll keep that in and give it a few tweaks.

thanks for the idea's, I'll post a new list up tomorrow
