Games & Gears are back with a smaller project now, to launch a new line of mini painting brushes. I figure these are part of the larger product line they had planned that hopefully would have been funded along with their previous attempt for the game boards.

The brushes are double ended, for wet blending or just to double the life of the brush. They come with the usual plastic caps so you can store the brushes upright on either end. They have in the past been active on these forums so I assume they will also post here if anyone has any questions about quality, manufacture etc.

Stretch goals are on the way, no idea yet what they might be. Thought I should post this here as the numbers of available slots are dropping faster than I would have expected.

Pledged to follow it, shame I missed the early birds as that looks like it was a great deal if the quality is there.

I would suggest that they chose the wrong colour for their brush strokes/splatter though...

Hmm seems interesting I guess

I dont know anything about brushes though. 5-7 years ago people say "use series 7" and that probably still is just as valid today. I'm not sure if this will change the not very changing aspect of hobby brushes (in my mind, since I do not know anything about brushes besides get a series 7/the smallest brushes possible).

The double-tipped brushes are cool, but I buy my brushes in cheap little packs of 3-4 for around $3/brush from the art store, so... well, I just don't feel mine are that bad.

I'll keep an eye on it, because their concept seems well thought out, but it'll be a tough sell for me...

They have said they will be attending Templecon. Just checked and that's going to be on during the first half of the Kickstarter. I'm hoping that someone who attends will be able to put up a review / impressions of what they saw.

The double tip looks quite intriguing for blending and for fixing mistakes, for me especially the second function was quite an incentive.

The double end confuses me. I feel like I'm not going to be able to hold brushed in my mouth anymore. And what the eff am I going to chew on with I"m frustrated with what I just painted?

You know, this is a fairly good idea. I know I also find that the brushes I use are too thin to use for a very long time. My solution was to get some of these:

But just plain wider would be nice. I found some "Master's Touch" brushes that were almost perfect - short handles, but as thick as a round Bic pen - but the bristles were totally unacceptable nylon. Since this is still not in development yet, how wide do you plan to make the handles, precisely? I saw the comparison pic, but no numbers.

Good idea.

@ Ouze,
Overall our handles will be thicker/wider than standard Kolinsky sable brand hobby brushes. We will be @ Templecon and will show the comparison with brands most hobbyists used from W&N & the miniature hobby brush brand brushes.

@Scrub! We thank our first 300 backers. Who will get their Pro Studio Sets shipped within 3 weeks when our Kickstarter ends

For those after our initial 300 backers. Fear not!! Only 4-5 week till your Pro Studio set(s) will be shipped once our Kick Starter ends.

Nice idea, but there are a few problems:

Paint will be running into brush and ruin it.
Letting the water drip from the brush when not using it does not work, it will run down the grip.
It takes more time to handle a double tipped brush than two seperate brushes.

That really does depend on how much you thin your paint, and how much of it you take on a brush in one to doesn't it?
I mean, for hlending it's going to be upside down for a few seconds at a time, at most.

I think they would work well for 2 brush blending. Personally I wouldn't load up both sides of the brush with paint.

I'm torn on if I want to pledge for this or not. Just not seeing a great way to store them (other than by going out and buying a paint brush stand (Unless they are going to make it a stretch goal...HINT HINT)...

ERRRR fine you got me, Pledged at 25 Pounds, and I hope they are as good as my Raphels

If the belly is properly shaped it can hold the paint, if the paint is properly thinned it should not be that runny, but posture and how a brush is held also affect that, personally I see more use for the second brush as a quick clean, quick water/ additive applier than a second colour carrier, but I can see the validity of this usage.

The hair holds the paint, as long as you don't put excessive amounts of paint on the brush which like any brush will have the same effects. We will demonstrate this at Templecon. The list of benefits of the two head brush system is not exhaustive and there are many different styles and preferences to the painter .

These are awesome for two brush blending.

Lastly you do not have to load up both ends with paint. =)

Thank you for your backing!!

Allot of exciting things to come here on this Kickstarter & for 2013!

yeah,
I plan on using as a normal brush... and maybe occationally using the other end slighty moist with water to quickly remove excessive paint...

They had my pledge at "Kolinsky". Anyone who takes their painting even slightly seriously should be using Kolinsky sable hair.

Double set gets a extra brush.

Its a little strange that the double and triple get less rewards than the single set.

From the discussion the x2, x3 will get more with new stretch levels, logical as this must be an expensive brush.

I would not use that for drybrush as suggested though, I am expecting it to be a really fine brush for base-coating large areas.

If you are in at the 45 level, 3 of these soon means you will technically have 6 ends to use, one for a drybrush could work.
