*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ok so I am going to attempt to create a Sisters of Battle codex, now the question is... what do YOU want to see in it, was there any rules in the previous codex you were fond of before the WD updated codex? is there any rules you are fond of now in the new WD codex? was there any units that were eliminated from the new WD codex that you would like to see back? are there any units that are inside your own head that you would like to see in this fandex? any fliers that you would like to see in the codex? if so leave a comment in this thread, and lets get this ball rolling .

Cheers to all comments .

Edit: If there are any units that you have made up please leave the fluff in a comment and a key element that you want to see how this unit performs on the tabletop, similaray if there are any BL book Characters that you want to see in this codex leave a comment .

Again Cheers to all comments .

Bring back more wargear, cannoness more usable like getting back her jetpack. Pentinent engines in the elite slot. Make heavy flamers a little cheaper since it is part of their trinity bolter flamer melta. Let us take fewer than 10 BSS in a group so we can add an hq IC in a rhino with them. Add another troup choice Like initiates or fanatical followers similar to cultists. Some ideas I thought of. Do something with sister dialogus making her actually do something like reroll faith failed rolls within 12"

Why would you put penitence engines in the elite slot nooo /cue all competitive armies taking 9 penitence engines and 3 Exorcists/

Bringing focus back onto the Canoness would be nice though. On Horusheresy, there's an (to be honest) amazing example of what a SoB dex should look like, if you're looking for inspiration.

The reason I wanted them elite is because that catagory is rather... Lackluster. Moving PE there seemed ok since they are close combat and lack shooting( minus the flamer)Other codex have dreads in that catagory so why not sisters? More people would use them and not compete with heavy slots. It would offer more target saturation so they don't get popped 1st turn along with exorcist.
I didn't think of running 9 PE and 3 exorcist though. That route would scream cheese but would be so much fun to field. Being open topped limits durability so to me sounded better fitted to elite slot

I think that instead of generating a set number of faith points each turn, certain units should have an ability which causes them to generate a certain number of faith points per turn. I think that ideally it should be linked to mainly sisters troop choices and a few special units. I think that most cases should be 'this unit generates 1 faith point per turn', with an upgrade which lets it generate D3 faith points instead, but some units should generate 2 faith points for free. I would also like to see a special character (maybe celestine) be able to either generate a large number of faith points, or be able to spend faith abilities for free. I would also like to see holy relics with cool effects (my two favourite codices are DA and GK, both because of the number of cool effects that they have). I'd also like to see a sisters flyer, with options for either a more offensive loadout or cool support effects. I really think that sisters should be defined by faith, so really work on interweaving faith effects and synergies throughout the codex.

Take GK allies then (yes I know, but they've been made the full inquisition now), Sisters is a Church Army, not Inquisition, despite its superfluous manner of trying to shoehorn the inquisition in with them in their previous codex.

Ok thanks to all replies so far keep 'em coming, for Faith points I was thinking on taking on paying points for them but they would be like focus like from warmachine and you can pass them around to other units in your primary sisters detachment, its hard to say how the rule would work untill I have written it down, but on other news I was thinking on Immolaters making them (upgradeable) squadrons of 3 with twin-linked torrent heavey flamers, nothing too OP, nothing too bad either, its hard to get a good grip with Sisters untill I have the old Codex: witch hunters which I am going to borrow off a friend next weekend.

But on a note so this is what you all would like to see:

-Inquistion units
-Patent engines getting Elites?
-More options for Cannoness (which I agree with open arms with this one)
-sister dialogus doing something about the faith

Note: when I weas talking on the Faith points earlier on I was thinking only Sister of Battle can take them, Il make a rule called Sister of Faith, explainging this.

I want to have dual-pistol armed sisters on foot, can be option for normal sister squads, or alternatively another different squad. Generally more options and customisability.

Option for flamers and dual pistols for Repentia. Repentia should probably have carapace armour instead of being naked and embarrassing. (see Blanche's sister concepts in Inquisitor Sketchbook.)

Sisters on bikes.

An angry mob. Cheap and crappy unit. Similar to chaos cultists.

Lower level sister HQ. Not every small warband should be led by a Canoness.

I'd like to see the best of codex Witch Hunters and codex WD Sisters of Battle combined into one with the addition of Repressor (change front AV to 12), Drop Pods, and access to IG Vendetta. I believe a combination of the following will make SoB more viable and popular in 40k.

Codex WD SoB:
-Retain Saint Celestine (she rocks!)
-Retain Kyrinov and Jacob (Jacob would be amazing with old codex Witch Hunters faith system and Kyrinov has his uses).
-Retain points cost of Rhino
-Retain Frag and Krak grenades as standard load out for all Sisters
-Retain Retributor's access to Heavy Flamers
-Retain point cost of Seraphims
-Retain Scout for Dominions
-Retain FNP for Repentia

Codex Witch Hunters
-Retain point cost of Dominions, Celetians, Sisters of Battle w/ Veteran Sister Superior included, Canoness, Command Squad, Exorcist, Immolator
-Retain invuln for Repentia
-Retain Inquisition units
-Some how enable Repential access to Land Raider
-Retain Immolator (moving 12" and firing TL-Heavy Flamers was awesome!!!)
-Retain old Faith System and powers (especially Divine Guidance and Spirit of the Martyr).
-Retain Book of St. Lucius
-Retain point cost and retinue status for Canoness and command squad
-Retain army wide 5++ against psychic powers

Others
-Grant access to Vendetta as either Fast Attack or dedicated transport
-Grant access to Drop Pods
-Grant access to Repressor as a dedicated transport except beef up front AV to 12 instead of 11.
-Grant access to Battle Conclave from codex Grey Knights
-Change Battle Sisters default squad size to 5 and expandable to 20. This way IC can join Battle Sisters in Rhinos.

I would like to second the idea of Inquisition units. The way I see it the Grey Knights codex was supposed to represent the entire inquisition but failed epically because the only special character that allows you to take non-Grey Knights as troops is part of the Ordo Malleus anyway. So if you want to run an Ordo Xenos force you need to have Grey Knights with you or hamfist your way using Guard allies and/or Coteaz.

For me, the old Inquisitorial Storm Trooper squad served as a cheap scoring grot unit. I could commit all my Battle Sisters to the front line while keeping a small scoring unit guarding home objective. Perhaps "borrow" IG Vets or IG Storm Troopers (except make them scoring) will provide more variety of troops.

One of my old wish list items actually was SoB Noviate. I'd imagine they'll be AKIN to Scouts in any SM Chapter, except SoB version. Dark Heresy RPG could provide fluff to back this up.

Firstly, and this might be controversial i would have to say have a significant price bump for Celestine. She is the most under-costed IC i can think of in the game. I would happily still pay nearer the 200pt mark for her abilities in my sisters army.

Adding small things would help massively:
- Penitent engines in elites would mean people might actually start filling out the elite section of the FOC,
- Cheaper heavy flamers throughout the army. Maybe 15pts each
- Repressors as dedicated transports.
- Immolators to be fast or cheaper, or twin heavy flamer turret = torrent
- Sob vehicle upgrades (holy promethium,
- Decent armoury/choices for canoness such as jump-pack and special sob only equipment
- Make sister Dialogus and Hospitaller optional in the Sororitas command squad
- Celestians that can take ccw and bolt pistol.
- Faith points to d3 per 1000 points per turn.
- BSS to be 5 minimum but max 20.

A few new units might help out too:
- A militia type troops, like the 2nd ed Frateris militia, for a cheap/crap troops choice
- A fast moving non-jump pack unit such as bikes would be lovely
- Different types of standard HQ such as Palatine instead of just Canoness
- A Canoness that can alter FOC, either a special character or standard. For instance a Canoness with jump pack can make seraphim Troops
- Possible variant on the exorcist platform. Either on that fires a blast missile (firestorm-type missile maybe)
- Some type of very rare and revered machine on the scale of a dreadknight, but more crazed/fundamental - Maybe called something like "The Emperors Will". Could be as a special HQ choice or a one-off Elite/HS slot maybe

What i really dont want to see:
- Land raiders - SOB are not space marines
- Vendettas/Stormtalons/Stormravens - SOB are not IG or SM. If there was to be a flier then something that is very sob specific (but doesnt have candles on it because that would be stupid)
- Drop pods - i cant see sob as a rapid insertion force beyond that of drop-ships. Drop pods screams ultra-elite close combat troops, which sisters are not

Just my thoughts. If im being honest im pretty damn happy with the current white dwarf dex, it is extremely versatile even with so few choices, and can compete with most armies, but it does lack a lot of flavour

10000pts - Sisters Venatores
2500pts - Imbros Irregulars
- 3000pts
Alpha Legion (HH era) - 7000pts finished
Army of Mousillon - Bretonnian Black Knight army - 3000pts (66% painted)
Host of Xblanque - Lizardmen Army - 7000pts (50% painted)

Frateris Militia put back as an option for troops - I don't think you should drop Sisters squads below ten models, since this is a point of differentiation from other 3+ armies, but if Frateris Militia were included then at least there would be another option.

With Faith Points, the secret is to make it take the least dice rolls possible. The system at the moment is actually pretty good - you just have to roll one dice, and if you forget it at the start of your turn it doesn't really matter if you take it halfway through. Easy.

Changing it to 'units generate faith' or 'd3 points per turn per unit' takes time away from the turn - you have to remember to go through the entire board generating faith, and there are more things to get wrong. Remember when BA had to do their Black Rage at the start of every turn? It was really easy to forget, and it screwed the game up.

DE got around this slightly with tokens. How about this - every time a unit makes their 6+ invulnerable save, they generate a faith 'token' for their next turn?

What about pre-game generation? Like, for every Faithful model in your army, you gain 1 Faith Point. End of Story. Of course that would mean some increased resource management for the SoB players, but you can counterbalance it with much more powerful Acts of Faith.

So they only generate faith if shot at by Ap3 Ap2 Ap1 weapons?

Sisters are smaller than marines... maybe a rule that allows 10 sisters plus 1 IC to fit in a rhino?

Drop armour saves to 4+. The Power Armour's so much smaller and they're unenhanced. However, high leaderships and slightly higher initiatives than a basic Marine.
Change Repentia from half-naked to wearing robes... seriously, cloth wraps and chainsaws? Maybe give them a "Smite Mode" style rule, where they are I10 for one turn?

Power Armour is what defines them though. The fact that they're unenhanced doesn't reduce the protection offered by it. Sisters just aren't S4/I4 because of it.

The current faith system is fine, just the implementation is buggy. Some squads have faith powers that aren't useful (Celestians, +1S for a non-CC unit?) or too restricted (faith powers don't last till next turn unlike psychic powers, which kills Repentia for instance). It just needs some tweaks to be useful.

Inquisitors as HQ unit.
If you take an inquisitor, you can take inquisitorial warbands a la codex grey knights, and, like the old sister dex, allied guardsmen veteran squads.

I've never heard of the milita before, but I like the idea of massed 'Imperial citizens' being led by an individual Sister and/or priest. Fill a role similar to Chaos Cultists.

More Witchhunters stuff returning.

New types of flamers as they are THE masters of flamer and melta weapons, they should have some neater weapons then even the Space Marines in those two fields, but the flamer above all.

Something to make the Exorcist less of a crapshoot. Some combination of price cut, a more reliable missile count (2d6, d3+2, or a flat heavy 4), and a Skyfire option.

More variety in Sisters. Right now, the biggest difference seems to be "two special weapons, four special weapons, or two half-bolters and a jump pack."

Nah. She is just lucky and determined crazy person.

I don't really care for bringing back the Inquisition stuff. Sisters are not part of the inquisition and should be able to stand on their own with only Ecclesiarchy support. I love the Inquisition but they need their own codex.
