Hello all!

I'm looking at the Gamesworkshop catalog since I'm going to be rebuilding a new 40K imperial guard army. I'm confused as to why there are only two Imperial factions in plastic. I really don't like metal figures and would much prefer having my army in plastic. And, as usual Gamesworkshop prices are ridiculously high. I'm really Curious as to why Gamesworkshop has yet to make any other sets in plastic. What do you all think? Do you like the metal figures? Would you prefer plastic or perhaps resin figures? Do you use proxy figures other than GW product? I'm going to be putting in a sizable chunk of change. I'm going to be married to this army with time and money. I want to explore all options. Thanks!

I'd say steel legion, but as FW have that covered, I'd go with Valhallan.

I'd like to see a complete redesign of all the the Imperial Guard factions to be honest. As much as I like the Cadians, the Catachan not so much, I'd really like to see other, well designed regiments of the Imperium.

The only thing I can think of is that you can argue the Guard has more variation of troops anyway. Any other army you have to be content to buy a unit and paint it different colours, but the Guard is the only army, maybe apart from Space Marines, where you get a variation of the same unit.

For example, an Eldar Dire Avenger Squad is just that, a squad of Dire Avengers, there isn't a choice.

But an Imperial Guard Infantry Squad can be; Cadian Infantry, Catachan Infantry, Vostroyan Infantry, etc, etc, etc.

An Armour Save? No, never heard of it. Me? I play Imperial Guard.

I'd like to see cadians brought to the level of quality of the 5th ed DE pieces. From there you could just use greenstuff to turn them into literally any other guard army, aside from catachans. All the non-DKoK guard infantry models look like absolute rubbish as it is.

I went with Steel Legion, but what I really want to see is a recut of the Cadian molds. They are wearing out and the end result is extremely heavy mold lines on each piece.

Valhallans! If you absolutely need a mindless infantry zerg rush army, that's the regiment to go to. Making them plastic would considerably ease acquisition.

Also, I'm biased, comrades.

If they made non-FW Death Korps of Kreig, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. A man can only survive on breakfast for so long, but Emperor willing, I'd endure!!

Games Workshop - Just because a dog is in the doghouse doesn't mean you don't care for them anymore. But when they crap on the floor over and over again, you need to make it clear that their behaviour won't be tolerated.

Of the choices, it's a tossup between Valhallan and Vostroyan. Personally, though, I'd most like to see plastic DKoK. Cheaper Krieg models would make me actually start an IG army. I'd easily pay GW MSRP - I just can't justify FW prices+transatlantic shipping.

I vote Tallarn. They're the only regiment that would likely have new stuff to bring to the table.

This is my hope:

GW releases 1 plastic kit to replace each metal 1.

Contents?

Enough components to create:

A Command Squad or an Infantry Squad
+1 Heavy Weapon Team

Price? Probably $33 USD, like most other kits.

from a practical point of view;
I'd like see two body types, Formal and greatcoat.
From those two, you can, with the use of different heads make many different regiments.
Formal does Mordians and Pretorians
Greatcoat can do Valhallans and Steel Legion.

Personally I'd want Tallarns.
They are a bit single purpose, but they are my favorites

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Aren't Renegades easy to do already? It's a conversion job with minimal effort. Even GW's own Blood Pact army is basically just Cadians in black and red, though I think if you'd want to get fancy there are always options like simply adding a few spikes here and there, experimenting with green stuff, or just carving a Chaos star into the armour.
I mean, Renegades essentially are just existing Guard who have modded their kit - seems to me the best way to do them would be to replicate their modifications.

But perhaps GW could sell something like special bitz kits with "Corrupted Guard" heads and stuff...
Man, I think they could do so much more to actually make people experiment and kitbash and customise their minis. In the previous years it almost seems as if they dropped this angle entirely. They'd prolly drop painting as well if they wouldn't make so much money from selling Citadel colours.

Whatever this is. Plus with other parts you could make Valhallens and the other great coat armies.
