Well, here's the latest. Painted the fuel tanks, sponson bolters, drilled the barrels (still have the exhaust to do), and started some detailing.

I'm looking forward to unit markings and weathering!

Looking tres bon, mon ami. They're going to look a treat when your done

having recently had a discussion on a different thread i read about steampunking up some barrels by means of using chaosy muzzles...the ones choas uses for bolters and such likes... i bet there are even ones for canons...? that could be a nice addition to your tanks as well... maybe not for the main guns...but certainly for the bolters and lascanons...

i think those could work well, nice idea vik

Never thought of chaos barrels as steampunk , but it does fit very well.

welll some of them certainly give a bit of posh feel to the models...

I'll try not to make a habit out of non-picture updates, but sometimes the pictures just don't turn out. Maybe I should get one of these daylight bulbs that everyone keeps talking about...

Anyway, here's what I did tonight:

Went to the FLGS for a friendly game of 40k, but everyone was too terrified of the mean ol' Space Wolves, so I chatted for a while, checked out "Scourge the Heretic", and pawed through the bits box for an hour and a half (phew!). Came home to start painting.

Finished Petr Ychenko (I think). There were a few little things that I'd been putting off and I finally took the time to finish up. Baring any CC from you all, I think he's completed!

Painted more on the twins. I think I've finished base coating (though I keep finding spots that need another coat) and started highlighting. As for the posh-ifying the tanks, I found the aforementioned chaos bits, and it just wasn't working for me. Thanks for the idea's though. Keep them coming!

Sorry for the lack of photo documentation: I'll take some good pics tomorrow in the daylight.

here in berlin, where i live we have in the 50km distance three GW shops... all resemble a phonebox allright... i don´t understand why GW never opens up a shop in my more accesible area...that bothers me substantial...

and i definatly think an update is needed for your Petr Ychenko !!!

I washed the hilt of the combat knife, tidied up some of the highlights on his boots and pouch, added some highlighting on his jacket, and added a bit of weathering on his armor.

As much as I feel that I am finished with the model, the whole reason I keep joining these painting compititions is to push myself, so: Any last bits of CC?

yup... got some thoughts here for you...:

the backpack is a bit (acording from the zoomable pics) flat looking... care to give us greedy bunch some highlights there? also i spotted a hair on this very backpack...

but other than that...i only ahev to aplaud! the heft of the knife is looking way better now!

oh and a hair is on his left side pouch too... if you zoom in you see it pointing downwards...i really hate hairs no on bodies or brushges so this always kind a creeps me out... phobia of mine...^^

Viktor, do GW still have a shop under the Euro Centre in Berlin? I thought that was a decent sized one. Does it still have the life size Space Marine outside it? I seem to remember one at the far end of Karl Marx Allee near Lichtenberg, that looked quite small but I reckon if you have 3 GW shops in Berlin the gaming must be fairly healthy over there.

So, Petyr, apart from needing a shave ("Get a haircut soldier!") looks pretty damn good, well done Rawson

hey mate you are very good informed... in fact the one in the euro centre is better sized among the shops... but for some reason i am only ever drawn there by chance... if i am to do some shopping i go to the one in lichtenberg... you are quite the globetrotter butchy^^
the second one is indeed in potsdam... a smaller city near to berlin...for americans and other helicopter propelled nations i think this is only a small drop...but for me it means a 1.5 hour drive in the public transport... so not likley to be of choce for some gaming in the nearer future^^
that one in lichtenberg is tho really a shoebox... but the shop is always nicley filled...and if it weren´t for the pushy nature of the team there quite a nice bunch of peeps there too...

oh now i get it...hair...hare...no..er..do..no...whut? lol... but still nice punny^^

oh by the way.. yep that life sized doll is still there... last time i was there they had a BIG...even HUGE terrain of a fully insde viewable necron monolith or something similar in one of their windows... a tad messy done but still impressive...

Got friends in Berlin and in Copenhagen and, when I do my sightseeing bit I always like to pop into the local GW just to have a look see at the modles on display etc

well always good to know^^ there models by the way are fairly decent looking... i even come there with my kids to show them...imagine a father and two kids standing gawping at the window...each of them^^

yeah, Pop's gawping in the window and kids gawping at Pop's, one will be thinking "for goodness sake Father (I'm presuming they are well educated and well brought up ) you're starting to drool again!" whilst the other's thought's will be along the lines of "Here we go, it'll be a long spiel about rivets next!!"
As a doting Dad, I can empathise with you, I got into this wargaming through my son and now he doesn't play it (though he has 3 rather large armies; Orks, Chaos and Eldar. Most of which yours truly painted, oh how us father's suffer !! ) and we spent many an afternoon at the GW in Newcastle, not to mention a couple of trips to GW in Nottingham so I think it's nice that you take your kids to GW and share a moment

yep... strictly only for the kids... the things we parents have to suffer for the needs of the kids...after all the hobby does have such good educational sides to it... training hand to eye coordination...social skills training in frustration management and of course there is the whole mathematical side to it too... the list is endless... and that is why a good parent has to endure...yeah right^^ in all honesty... my kids are 5 and 3 years old, but both of them are even now in this age yearning for their own army... well the five year old will eventually get a a customized arbites force... and the smaller one i am not sure... i hve thought maybe i create him a sprue robot army for starters...the plastic crack definatly has them already...
