Ladies and gentlemen we have gathered votes from the 4 corners of the globe! .... well, Australia, America, England and...... Canada! I have put the data into my Nerdputer and waited patiently while it dissected the entrants images and found secret footage of most of them in compromising positions ... o.k maybe not the last bit, but we do now have a winner!!

I have to say it was interesting to see that all of the judges scoring on 4 criteria with no interaction voted in a quite similar fashion with some very close results, less than 15 points between 1st and 2nd and less than 25 points separated the next 6 entries!

I shall now announce the winner of the 2012 'Golden Bathtub' competition

First place is.... Ramos Asura

wooooo hooo, great job Ramos, the clean paint and extensive conversion added to a dynamic and cinematic model that we all enjoyed! I hope you add the 'Golden Bathtub' on a shelf for all to see and wonder at your mad skills with the brush!

But wait!.... who got second? third? I rummaged through my Nerd room and have managed to secure a small prize for second and third place too

Second place goes to Anunearthlychilde who wins this, a lovely purity seal to remind him that the Emperor is the only truth

Third place goes to Flinty and his prize shall be this rather nifty picture I drew of a dog wearing shorts.

I ask all winners to PM me with the postal address and i shall attempt to mail your prizes soon!

thank you everyone for your encouragement and effort, I shall be hosting again next year if you all want to attend the fun and cheek fest that we have going on?

regards

Damian (Nerdfest09)

Congratulations Ramos... well deserved mate. Everyone did such a fine job and obviously put fourth tremendous effort. One of the best dakka competitions that I've been associated with for sure. Really cool to see how far some of you have come in your painting skills in the last couple of years.

Thanks Nerdfest for including me as a judge. Great experience and a pleasure to be able to help.

OH, and I love the 3rd place prize!

Oh wow! Thank you so so much, Im honored!!
Id like to congratulate everyone who entered- You guys made some wicked looking models. The judges' jobs could not have been easy!

Thanks to the judges for a fine job, and a BIG thanks to the nerd for hosting this comp (and Im TOTALLY looking forward to next year). I love the second and third place prizes xD
I think a few of my favorite conversions have appeared in this comp. Like the Tau Ork (a Tork, if you will), and the starcraft marine!

In any case, Thank you all so much!

Mostly, on my phone.

Grats to the winners, and great work all round! Painting competitions really do bring out the best in people, on all levels.

For those of you who might be thinking of sponsoring painting competitions in the future... you should know that one of the things (from a judges perspective) that made this competition go so well is that Damo gave us an excellent series of judging criteria from which to work. The fact that the judges had scored the entries so closely and similarly is not an accident. Nerdy set out a set of criteria organized in categories with specific things being worth certain points. He also included areas where we could award points for things that weren't as easily defined but where we could recognize things that "just worked well" about a figure without having to assign it to a specific criterion. This way, he can lay out his priorities (as the sponsor) in the types of things we are to judge and the point values assigned to them. There were however, a significant number of points available to the judges for purely subjective assessments. Both tools make for consistent and thorough judging while keeping us focused on Nerdy's priorities for his competition.

I encourage Nerdy to share his criteria so you can take it into account should you ever plan to sponsor or volunteer to judge a competition like this. It makes things easier for the judges and increases the equity of the process for the participants. Also keep in mind that I'm a biologist and this method suits my training and mind-set. A trained artist might have a totally different, totally valid opinion of this judging system.

Sick competition guys, and congrats to all the winners! This was a fun experience. Cheers Damo and all the other judges!
I'm surprised Reaper Man didn't get a placing though
