Thanks a lot.
Though a slight decline in updates, work haven't stopped. The Rangers are finished - a bad sneak peek pic for show untill better pics are taken.

They look fantastic Manus. That brown really works on the cloaks with just a touch of red on the shoulders. Well done.

The brow gives them a very realistic look, as you would use muted colours on the battlefield.

Simply couldn't wait to get this started. However the first few licks of paint doesn't say much.

That is a really cool figure. Going to be stunning when completely painted!

I'm liking every except the winged horse. I find it too large and out of place. Probably restrictive in battle. I also like the black. Like a matrix leather coat

Thanks Gitspiltta, I hope the painting will own up to the build.

@styrofoam04: thanks for the CC. I absolutely see where you point is valid. However kind of the whole idea is for it to large and out of place. I, as heaps of others, am a big fan of JBlanche's art work and minis. One of the things I really like about the stuff he makes is, that the characters are filled with bits that seem to have no practical use what so ever - and often completely out of size - just there for the bling. We could not agree more, that it would probably hinder his vision and he'd bang his head every time he turns it, completely irrational for living and fighting. On the other hand I think it's over the top detail like this, that makes a model stand out and bring that baroque feel to it.

Painting has gotten a little further. I usually paint somewhat cleaner than the classic inq28 style, so I find this slightly difficult. Hence CC on painting most welcome.

Cheers styoforoam04, I hope you are right

Wasn't happy with the dark metal bionic arm, couldn't get the right dark color, so I have changed it to a dark bronze instead - well at least it will be once washes and highlights have been applied.

Cheers.....well I take it that's a good thing

Not really knowing exactly how I felt about the paintjob so far, I decided to do a bit of experimenting yesterday.
The bronze on the emblem was given a stippling of orange before the final wash was applied - though it washes out somewhat in these phone photos, the effect is quite radical and good. Really adding a second layer of depth - I believe that even in these photos you can see the difference between the arm and emblem, which have otherwise been painted in the manner.
The other experiment took place on the red armour on the left arm. I was trying to use the bold-highlights-washed-down-method, it wasn't really working though as I kept getting either soft pinkish highlights or getting the highlight too red after washing. Then I decided to give the old complementary color a go and added some green wash, initially as shading, but soon I splashed it on the edges/highlights as well - worked a treat I think.

Just lovely. Love the detail on the red arm. How did you get the look on the backpack?

Thanks guys.
@Gitsplitta: I'm not sure if you mean the surface or color? Anyway, the surface looks a little odd, as this is a 3d printed bit I got of shapeways. I have actually tried to get a smoother surface by adding a few coats of varnish, but it didn't help much.
Color is achieved with vallejo bronze, washed with GW agrax earth shade and then a couple of washes with GW something-camoshade.

Ah, must be the 3D printing. Looks hammered... very interesting, I kinda like it that way.

Must be differences in the printings, as I have stuff from shapeways as well with a very smooth surface.

Detailing is underway - really think that with every little piece added more character is added too.

Finished The Bastard and I think he really turned out fine, I enjoyed this one model at the time instead of painting up units at a time. So not my last venture into Inq28 land.
