Cheers I put dirt on everything else, I figured this could be the pristine state before a battle, or after a fresh snow. Need to get off my butt and work out some scatter or something though, wasting time today.

Five pieces of snowy scatter. I figured I could snow up some pieces that were going otherwise unused. Most work for both sci-fi and post apoc, most probbaly for modern too really.

What are you using for the snow? That's not GW's new snow effect, is it?

Very nice. I can envision a lot of gaming happening on that board.

The snow is ostensibly a 1:1:1 mix of Elmer's glue, baking soda (not powder, the 100% bicarb of soda stuff), and titanium white acrylic paint from hobby lobby.

In theory. In practice it's probably more like 40/40/20 with less paint than the other two. Or possibly even a little heavier on the glue, I think the mix levels itself better if the consistency is close to that of the Elmer's glue.

It's easy, doesn't look bad, dries nice and powdery.

@Josh, I'll take even a little gaming

Alright, got it finished. Will make some more scatter eventually, but here's what it looks like in both post-apoc and fantasy modes:

Think maybe we've seen this one already?

This one too? But it just looks so cute and snug up there

And there you have it! Gotta find someone to play a game on it sometime.

You could make a few fallen tree scatter pieces, wood piles for the wood burning stove for cover too .

It all looks excellent, especially the cozy onthe shelf pic.

Thanks guys

Firewood stacks...sweet. consider me on it. Fallen trees too. I may pick up one or two single trees if I can find some when they hit deeper clearance. Slap some extra snow on top of them.

I'm also gonna look up something to do with snow drifts on an ice patch someone suggested in the Facebook group. Tie it in a little better. Got some time tomorrow, watch this space, if I'm not totally useless I may be back at doing terrain.

Great work, looks perfect. Excellent idea from Theo, look forward to seeing what you come up with. This is a stunning board, pond finished up perfect. Snow effect is spot on. Wish I lived around the corner so I could come over for a game.

just go outside and grab some small twigs, glue them to a base, possibly poly them and then as snow. Any gloss from the poly might be seen as ice.

Good recovery on the pond/lake, snow is still nice and white, all good so far Grim!

Maybe Theo, though I dislike using to much organic stuff as it likes to decay. That said I use wood to build stuff all the time so it isn't really much different. Poly for sure though.

The snow effect is superb. If one used a different color paint, it might look like an interesting desert/sand effect. I hate using real sand.

I saw something like those trees at the local Walmart. The 9" versions were $2 each, the 6" versions were $1 each and the 3" versions were 74¢ each. I may go back and get some, or wait to see what ends up on clearance. They fit perfectly on that board.

Davetron thanks

Yeah aot of places have the trees, I intend on getting at least a couple more for fallen scatter trees. Hopefully the wide availability means I can get as on clearance that someone else missed.

As for sand... texture sure. Colors? Ehh the mix is 20-30% white paint, plus white baking soda. I think if you mixed in brown sandy paint instead and painted over that same color it would work. I may try it. But what time for the sand? Martian rust red? Slightly more like sandstone? More typical desert sand?

Something canyon-like would scratch an inch I've had for a long time. Maybe another 3x3 with similar overall height but instead of trees it's the ground level that tall? Hmmm. But red, tan, light tan, more wastelandy, or even purple like netherstorm in WoW?

Some kind of canyon at least 6 inches wide crossing most or of the board. Could do a wood bridge, fancy sci-fi bridge, and rundown modern bridge and use the board for everything again

Hmmmmm I have the foam. I don't have a lot else to do this winter... I do have my factory board to consider though.

Still considering that other board but... What think you of a roof for my factory? Ofc it would it work as it is in one configuration. 4 separate roofs? How would I support them in the middle though? Hmm

The factory is in 4 separate parts correct? If so then you'll need a center post either in each of the four quadrants or a part of a center post in each quadrant that all go back to back when you have all four together making one larger post.

Thanks Az The factory board just got brought down from storage, it's nothing new, although I did put the sidewalks on and start doing the ground texture on one of the pieces.

Theo... that's my thought as well however... I don't like that aesthetically, lots of buildings have roofs without supports like that. I'm thinking of taking 20-40% out of each top piece, especially out of the center, so there's a big gap in the middle where the roof fell all the way through and the edges are still all intact. Kind of like what I did with the battle zones bits but more area. It would be easier to support so it's strong enough to hold models up, and look more broken down. The other thing to keep in mind is that any roof bits that cover more than what the battle zones roofs are currently covering would have to be removable for playability. So I dunno...in some ways I may as well leave it alone

We'll see how it goes.

Had to clear off the table to wrap presents and subsequently build Legos lol, so the factory board is on hold again.

Managed , finally, to get my BMG Suicide Squad starter buildings put together. I like them. I'd count them as a step behind battle systems, especially because of dat gloss... But next best thing. Photos below. Happy holidays.

The mat ties everything together too.

Those buildings are pretty nice, but they'd look better if they weren't so obviously slot-and-tab construction. You're right, Battlesystems did it better.

Yeah I like them well enough. I'd probbaly cough up for another set of they sell them and they're not prohibitively expensive.

I think the BS stuff is better but I can pick up and move the entire BMG stuff in one hand which is nice.

I like the change in tone though, and i have at least a partial mat to fill in so a little extra doesn't hurt.

I wanna try the game but it looks infinity level complex.

Great terrain setups! For some reason I haven't checked in here in ages so I'll have to have a look through the last few pages and see what else you've cooked up!

Batman is a fairly complex game to pick up, but once you're playing a lot of it is fairly straightforward (unlike Infinity, which I found counter-intuitive a lot of the time) and while there are a ton of special rules and such, the vast majority are tied to specific characters and won't come up unless you're using them. The basic mechanics aren't actually that fiddly or involved, it's only the odd interaction that really gets complicated. Since you have the SS set, try out some smaller games or even 1v1 matches between similarly costed models and you should get on all right.

This is a good 'quick reference' resource, any rule you need to look up can be found in the relevant section here, no need to flick through rulebooks:

Whew there went last year. Thanks for popping by all year everyone, stick around. I'm gonna be slow for sure, but I should still put something up every once in a while.

I need to get back at your blog Para too, my main rig has been down and I haven't been as active hereabouts.
